I test-drove probably half a dozen cars, and decided on the one I liked best: a 2001 Mitsubishi Galant. It had a little rust on the outside and the glove compartment was broken so it wouldn't shut, but otherwise it seemed decent. The price was $2,999, and we offered $2,700. To my surprise, he immediately agreed and started on the paperwork. If I were bolder and wiser in the area of bartering, I would have realized that an immediate acceptance to your offer means you're not getting a good deal. I should have offered much lower, or better yet, just walked off the lot. At the time, I even thought the guy was being nice, because he said he was going to replace something on the car that was going bad, that I can't remember anymore. But then, within the three years I had the car, the battery, alternator, starter, all went out, and a handful of other things as well. I ended up taking the car into the shop probably six or seven times in three years, each time for about a $300 fix, and once was over $700. I know it was an older car, and I expect to have a couple pricey repairs in a few years, but I had to replace just about everything under the hood, and I was told that the car was in pretty good shape. I would not by a matchbox car from Triple M Motors, let alone a personal vehicle.

All I'll say is the offer he gave my dad was excellent. I had done my research on True Car, so I knew what he could expect in the way of discounts, and their first offer (albeit after two days) beat what I expected. The car ended up being too cramped for my dad's liking, so he went another route, but the lack of pushiness from the salespeople was really refreshing. They were very polite and professional through the whole process.

I went in the SAME DAY based on that approval. When I arrived, I dealt with Dean and another guy in the office. We submitted every document they asked for and sat there for THREE HOURS waiting for a "bank response." No legitimate bank takes three hours to respond. The next day I called and was told they "still hadn't heard back." Then suddenly they needed more check stubs. We sent them immediately. They said they'd call back in 30 minutes. They didn't. When I called back, they literally hung up on me. I called again and was told they were "VERY busy" and would call when they could. They never did. Then I get a notification saying the vehicle was sold. An hour later? The SAME van is back online -- with a higher price. The next day? Another price increase. So which is it? Sold? Or just relisted for more money? This dealership wastes your time, plays games with pricing, and treats customers with complete disrespect. If this is how they do business, imagine what happens after you sign paperwork. Do yourself a favor -- go somewhere honest.

My 2026 Subaru needed body work after a tree fell on it, and it has now been sitting in the shop for two months because there are no parts available. Two months. For a 2026 vehicle. I understand that accidents happen and that parts can get delayed. But when a nearly brand-new car spends two months sitting around because Subaru can't provide the parts needed to fix it, that's pretty hard to defend. To be fair, I don't blame Zeigler Subaru for the parts shortage. They can't manufacture parts that Subaru apparently forgot to manufacture. But the lack of parts availability is absolutely a Subaru problem. So, great car. Terrible parts support. If you're planning to own one, apparently the best accessory you can buy is a backup vehicle--just in case Subaru decides your replacement parts are currently on a spiritual journey. I like the car. I just wish Subaru would remember that eventually, people need to repair the cars they sell.
