Missing fries and soda, but food was excellent
    Heather B.

I ordered food from here through door dash. So to be fair, I'm going to rate the food and not the issue with the order. I ordered two wraps, one chicken wrap and a chicken Caesar wrap. Really really good. I've had others from different places and this was a very big portion size and it wasn't soggy. Very good chicken and greens. I appreciate it. The issue with door dash was that it was missing the pop and the fries. So either the door dash guy didn't pay attention, or the restaurant doesn't have someone checking orders before someone picks them up.

Very dry gyro meat. Plus side it's not greasy, nor are the fries but just a very dry old meat

If you're looking for a Greek spot to scratch that mediterranean itch, look no further than Koko's. This is another spot I seem to have walked or ran by 100s of times and finally tried it. Combination dinner was fantastic, huge portion size, and very filling. Mine came with Gyro, chicken kabobs, falafel, rice, vegetables, pita bread, and a side salad to boot. Everything was cooked well and had tons of flavor. The salad came with dressing as well as Taziki sauce. I can't speak to service as I only ordered delivery. The food was fantastic. Please give Koko's a try!

KoKos has an extensive menu and is affordable for the price but the food fell flat for me. I ordered the lemon rice soup and a side of chicken shawarma. My soup had hardly any chicken or rice and could hardly taste lemon. Not to mention it had a small chicken bone in it. Then I opened my shawarma to find a staple in it... thank god it was on top so I saw it right away. I removed it and tried the chicken... not shawarma style at all. It was fatty and so heavily sauced with a random sauce that was not very good. Normally shawarma is like dry roasted. Wouldn't order either again. I understand a bone or even a staple or something falling in the bag but into the food container?? I saw it right away so not sure how staff missed it. Either way, all put together... sorry but a very bad experience.

Was really craving gyro one evening and decided to try takeout from Koko's since I was nearby. The food was ready so quick and was a great value for the price as the portion was enough for 2 meals! I will definitely order from here again when I'm craving Mediterranean. Their menu is a mix of a lot of items as they are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I look forward to trying more in the future!

The service is quick and the food is amazing! Very fresh and flavorful. The uber driver was even telling us how he comes here with family sometimes because it's so good! So glad we tried something new while on layover in the Windy City.

I got the Koko's Combo Plate - gyros, pork kebab, shawarma It's a very reasonable amount of food for $15 and all tasty too! No complaints about any of the plate's components. Nothing was dry or bland. Employees were helpful and nice. I liked the decent amount of seating and cleanliness of the restaurant.

Came to this place on a whim and was surprised it wasn't bad. It seemed like another dime a dozen Mediterranean places. Koko's is actually one of the better restaurants in the Ukrainian Village area for sure. Has the favorites. There's falafel of course, coming on a plate or in a wrap. As we just needed something fast, we decided on getting something with falafel. It's was obvious. That's the best Mediterranean thing for vegetarians. Easy part. Question was would it be a plate or a wrap. We turned out to get wraps. It's about $9 for a pretty big one. These come with hummus, and a choice of tahini or tzatziki. I got it with tahini, which kind of got lost in everything else. There was a lot on it, and it was all good. For sure I could get something from here again. It's as good Mediterranean food as anywhere around here so it would be a place to get that, and maybe a plate the next time. There's good stuff like the falafel and more for vegetarians.

Reminded me of the coney islands back home in Michigan! Great gyro and yogurt sauce is fresh. It's a very unassuming place not fancy at all on the inside. The servers speak Spanish and English so that is a plus. I went for breakfast but I I heard the burger is also really good! Looking forward to trying more.

The place is beautiful with a lively terrace on nice days but also a very open and bright interior with modern decor. We were seated right away at a table off to the side of the bar area. We must have waited like 15-20 minutes before anyone even realized that we were there. It seemed as though none of the servers running around serving other tables around us had our table to service. Eventually we caught the attention of who I can only imagine was a manager or supervisor who finally came over to take our orders. We ordered the Smokey garlic hummus which fresh pita bread and this was very good. We also ordered the crispy potatoes and the Brussel sprouts as a side. These were also nice and crispy and the brussel sprouts had a tasty kick with the harissa honey. For our main we had the chicken kebab which was perfectly cooked and tender, braised short rib (not as good), and the shawarma skirt steak frite. We quite enjoyed our meal and everything very fast which more than made up for the initial delay in service. For dessert we decided to share a frozen Greek yogurt with Olive Oil and sea salt. This had an interesting taste with a tanginess at the end. I'm not sure I would order this again but you could tell the Greek yogurt was of very good quality. All in all we enjoyed our meal at Aba and would definitely come back if in town.

That part was lovely because often I find that with larger groups it's hard to ensure everyone is able to interact (especially since I was taking my parents) Lamb shakshuka was a winner in my book!! So flavorful and perfect hearty brunch. The skewers my parents got were wonderfully cooked. Others got a more standard scrambled egg breakfast that they said was nothing special. The biggest issue was that our drink glasses had a terrible odor, as if they hadn't been washed properly. We mentioned it to the manager, who promptly replaced the glasses, and the new ones did not have the smell, which confirmed there was an issue with the original ones. I ordered the short ribs, which cost $35 and the portion was extremely small. One of the pieces was also mostly fat, leaving very little actual meat. For the price, I expected a much better-quality dish and a more satisfying portion. Overall, the experience did not live up to the restaurant's reputation or pricing. Unfortunately, I won't be returning.

Made last minute reservations for brunch next day after the infamous architecture tour. It was quiet as we've put in an early morning. All the more better to savor all intricate dishes from start to finish. Like the name, The Purple Pig, their specialty is pork dishes so majority of our orders were this. Daily special of the bone marrow bacon jam toast - glazed, slippery off the bone, savory and sweet. Always love a good bone marrow dish to get the sweetness off it. This was so good that there were bits of the marrow and jam left stuck to the bone, I took a piece of the toast and scooped the bone dry. Nothing left for anyone to attack this. Non pork dishes were the Mushroom 3 ways and Spanish octopus. Mushroom dish was savory with all the coated sauces elevating this. Spanish octopus was kicked lightly and easily can bite in to enjoy the tender and charred portions. But the award went to my main course - the braised pork shoulder with saffron, apricots and Swiss chard. Aside from the rippable pork meat when dining on it, the sauces fused together on this dish elevated it and had everyone coming back for more. I needed an official Chicago culinary experience and found it at The Purple Pig without a doubt.

Though unassuming on the outside, this place serves yummy Lebanese food at high ROI. Of the two shawarma plates I tried, I fancy the beef, but I tend to lean beef. The chicken was clean and flavorful. The hummus is creamy and delicious and the plates are served with a balsamic fresh salad on the side. The guys behind the counter are working hard and if you're picking food up to-go, you're likely in and out of line with hot fresh food in under 10 minutes. This is about a 4.5-5. -arayes with meat 4 - this was not bad. It's like a tamer version of the meat toshka. -meat toshka 5 - I prefer this over the arayes because they add the Syrian cheese. It goes well with the pita bread. The meats were cooked medium well unless you want something. I think next time I'll ask for the shish kababs to be cooked medium rare or medium for a more juicy taste. The chicken tawook and kufta were both succulent. -fillet of basa fried 5 - the two pieces of basa fillet were astronomical. It also comes with two different kinds of rice.
