Wow. Incredible food, freaky fast, and inexpensive! The chicken was juicy and fresh, seasoned but not too salty, and had a tangy, citrus flavor. All veggies were fresh and delightful and the rice was awesome. I got the chicken chopped salad and it was great! But my boyfriend got a sampler plate (I don't recall the name of the dish) and it had chicken, gyro meat, and falafel in addition to rice and a side salad. Everything on his plate was amazing and it was so much food for less than $10. We ordered off the Yelp app and arrived 5 minutes before the food should have been done, and they rushed to get it together for us. The store was clean and had nice decorations, and everyone there was nice. They sell beer if you eat in (and have Corona Light on tap which is a huge plus!). They have a TV and had the Cubs game on. Food eater's discretion advised: the lunch specials around here may put you in a temporary food coma haha! Wow- I came here on my lunch break with my colleagues. My colleague was concerned that the lunch lines would be a mile long so he suggested we call ahead to place our order. Let's just say whoever was on the end of that phone would not win customer service rep of the year. It was so noisy wherever she was standing while taking my order and she kept saying I can't hear you even though I was in a car that was absolutely silent. The attitude she had on the phone almost forced me to turn the car around and go somewhere else for lunch. Her mannerisms weren't professional but my colleagues talked me into going. When we arrived, we were actually rather surprised to see that it wasn't as poppin' as my colleague had talked it up. I ordered a gyro burger with fries and a drink. The gyro burger was okay but I didn't think it was as good as the one I had at Jubrano's. First of all, it didn't have as much gyro as I thought it would have and it lacked that special gyro sauce. Maybe it had the special gyro sauce on it but I really couldn't tell. The burger bun was a hit for me- it was fresh, it was chewy and it had a really great taste. The burger itself was juicy but it lacked flavor. There was just something missing that would otherwise make this burger a 5 star burger. I can't say I was blown away with the burger meat itself. However, whatever the burger lacked, the French fries made up for! The French fries serving is rather large and it definitely fills you up! My only regret is that I didn't try the Greek fries because they looked delicious. My coworker got the chicken kebob sandwich and he absolutely loved it! read more

Solid first outing at Koko's...and being a five-minute walk from my apartment, I think Koko's is gonna get a lot of work. First, it's cheap. You might even say it's dirty cheap, but it's a pretty clean space inside. I tried the #1 (gyro, fries, soda); my wife did the #2 (chicken schwarma, fries, soda). With tax and tip, it was just over $18. Me gusta. The food was all-around solid; fries were cooked perfectly, the gyro was served burning hot--perfect if you are taking it to go--and the soda selection worked for me (Coke products, so I could get Fanta, Zero, and Barq's). These guys are open early for breakfast...and if this can be believed, breakfast looks like the best option in terms of prices, with almost everything under $6 and some of those options included pancakes, eggs and toast on the side. I really like the food: gyro plate or dinner is the way to go. I've also had the breakfast burrito and it's pretty good. The salads are so-so and on the pricier side for what you get. But, if you're looking for a decent gyro with some solid tzatziki sauce, at a reasonable price, look no further than Koko's. I have had Koko's delivered a few times and normally the delivery is fine, but once or twice I have had an item missing from the order. Since I went through a delivery service (UberEats or PostMates), they were able to refund me. I never reached back out to Koko's to see if they actually forgot the item on my order. But, the place is worth 4 stars for the food and value. I recommend giving it a try! read more

Stacked with gyro meat, onions, tomatoes, and tzatziki sauce (white gold, as they call it), it may be the best-worst decision of your week. I was really excited to order Mediterranean food on my lunch break based on the good reviews I read. Unfortunately my experience was not that great. I ordered through yelp and asked for it to be delivered at 12:00 but it got there way earlier, which wasn't a big deal. But it didn't look too good. Tasted okay. A wonderful addition to the West Town/East Ukrainian Village 'hood. It's clean, the prices are cheap, the employees are friendly, and the food is incredibly tasty. I've had both the falafel and chicken shawarma, and both are simply outstanding. Better than any other Mediterranean spot I've tried, and that includes Sultan's and Benjyehuda. Plus, you get out of there for under 10 bucks, and that's including fries and a drink. They are a reliable breakfast spot as well. And burgers, and they have cheese sauce that I can get on the side for my fries! How can you go wrong? So back to the gyro - the main reason you should go to this place. The portion of meat is huge. Too much for me but it works out perfectly because I fork what I can't eat into my boyfriends gyro! The sauce - I forget what it's called but you know what I'm talking about. It's the best gyro sauce I've ever had. And there is enough on there that you can definitely taste it, unlike other places that hardly put anything on at all. The tomatoes!!! This one was introduced to me by my co-worker, as we all discussed a good place to have a nice chicken kabob . Her face lit up, and she delightfully exclaimed, "let's all go to Koko's!" I was a bit confused, as I wasn't expecting a place with this name to serve Mediterranean eats. To be honest, they serve everything here. I almost ordered a omelet for lunch, because I was having a moment. I was talked out of it, and I decided to go with the chicken kabob lunch combo. The service was quick, the prices are fair, and most importantly the food was quite good. Another neighborhood gem, in a place that is dotted with so many of them.
