My family and I have been coming to Submarine Pier for over two decades, and it remains a local favorite for a reason. You should defiantly come to this location for small and large orders. They load the sandwiches with meat. They are delicious and you can get old fashion ice cream like Black Walnut, rainbow sherbet and New York cherry. They are always polite and recently i placed a large order for 30 sandwiches. Well I've ate here before- but it's a been a minute since then. Positives- Service was exceptionally fast and correct, friendly couple of ladies as well working up front. Negatives- parking lot remains closed from California side and chained off to alleyway as well. This is a corner lot meaning they sit on the corner of a busy intersection, one way in one way out. I'm not sure why this is never open. Very frustrating to stop if it's rush hour and you're driving of course. Also meats are on same level as like a Mr Subs. It's decent food - I would put them above the chain sub sandwich spots slightly. For the area not many choices. Pricing could be slightly cheaper. The restaurant is pretty small there only like seven chairs to sit at and eat there, the staff was friendly, the hotdog was okay,( a little on the bland side with the flavor) the milkshake was pretty good (too bad they give you a regular straw instead of those larger ones) they have a pretty big cookie that was delicious and soft, Price of it all was pretty inexpensive, but they don't take credit cards so there is that. This is my favorite sub place! Its a knock-off of Mr. Submarine Port but blows them out of the water! You 3 size sandwiches to choose from, hot or cold. I usually get the regular turkey, heated. Sandwich comes with shredded lettuce, tomatoes, onions & melted cheese. And do not forget their homemade soups! They usually have the Cream of Chicken & Rice on Saturdays and it is the best! This place used to be good a handful of years back (14) when I was a little kid. Now the ladies that make the food just smack whatever meat they want into your sub. I understand that English isn't their first language, but they need proper training. I just recently moved close by and every time I have gone, my order gets messed up and I don't realize until I get home and I'm not the type of person to go back and make a complaint but I would let them know the following time I went. I will no longer go because they do not have a clue as to what they're doing. The only reason it has two stars is because 1) for the nostalgia I get 2) and because whenever I do get my order correct, it can be a good sub. Prices are ok but if you pay more for something that is meant to be less then it isn't ok. If you do go, make sure to watch what they're putting in and correct them asap. read more

Awesome and reasonably priced sandwiches! $7.50 for a footlong, same price as Subway, but much better ingredients. I know that it is an expense to maintain a credit card machine, but it's 2017 so it will need to be done soon or a later. Submarine Port is a nice alternative to your typical footlong. It's a local joint that you would probably never think of going to. They stay open really late on the weekends for those craving a nice sub at 2-3 a.m. The place is really clean and the meats taste fresh too. A king size sub should do the job for the normal appetite, I recommend the King Port. read more

My experience here was a strange one. It was my first visit. I placed an order for a regular size corn beef sandwich only. The lady who took my order was friendly. As I waited (which didn't take very long :) ), a guy who I assumed worked there took over as I waited for my change. Not once did he give me eye contact. I thought maybe he was in training. It looked as if he took forever to count $14.65. As I stood and continued to wait, he was rocking as if he had to use the bathroom. I was confused. He finally appeared to be finished counting my change. As I put my hand out, he put the bills in a way as if he wanted to drop it on the counter instead into my hand. "Hmm, that was strange" I thought. He then continued to "give me" my coins. He drop the coins as I reached for them as if he didn't want to touch my hand. Now I'm thinking "This is really weird!" I'm not that person to play the race card, but it really was odd how he "handed" my change. He then walked away...still no eye contact and no "Thank you!" I asked the smiling lady who took my order if he was the manager, and she said "yes!" I was like WHAT?! (to myself)... I said "thank you" and walked out. Although, I had a very, very, strange experience... My corn beef sandwich was DELICIOUS!!!! It remind me of how a corn beef sandwich taste back in the days.
