My husband and I visited this place after a late night out and it was honestly exactly what we were looking for. Both of our orders tasted delicious and it didn't leave us with a heavy greasy feeling. The iced coffees were a little sweet for our tasting but otherwise they were great. We had never been to a Kolache factory before so we were unsure what to order but the staff were patient and were helpful with recommendations. Amazing fare!!! Want a twist on the traditional pig in a blanket Kolache, than this is your place! I didn't even see one kolache with a sausage sticking out of the ends, tho they do offer sausage kolaches, tho they come with cheese or other items included. The ranchero, I had the first day, WOW, it was so good. Eggs, rotten, sausage... I don't know what source of magic they use in the bakery, but this was absolutely amazing to taste! All of it's encapsulated in a soft dough, and warmed up, delicious!! We stopped by on two different days during our stay in Houston for a show we were hosting, and we got to meet one of the managers the first day and he was super friendly, and so patient with us as first timers. Answered all of our questions, he was a gem and full of smiles. The sitting area inside we didn't use, we got ours to go, tho the area is a bit small. There isn't a line area, although there was a line when we got there, it moved quickly as they had multiple cash registers open. The dining area is small, has hard plastic chairs, it's not meant for long time comfort. There is a very large selection of Kolaches and all are made on site. I came by at 1:20pm to get lunch and the doors were locked. However, the sign was showing that it closes at 2pm on both the door and the app. When I came to open the door, the employee was laughing and smiling, so I had to go to chikfila that was across the street instead. The Kolache Factory keeps it simple with the three flavors of coffee provided by Katz. If you want a nice Medium roast go with the Texas Pecan Coffee otherwise the alternative choices for a stronger blend are Cafe de Olla and the Columbia Tolima. Ordered the bacon, egg, and cheese kolache, the kolache of the month which was turkey and dressing ( which comes with side of cranberry sauce which I passed on), and cream cheese kolache. The cream cheese kolache was okay, but did not like well enough to get again. The turkey and dressing had a delicious taste, but the turkey was a paper thin piece of lunch meat turkey that was dry ( I saw a pic of this kolache online, and it showed slices of "real" turkey that was not sliced paper thin). I've enjoyed many Kolaches from various branches of this chain before! Kolaches are essentially slightly sweet bread dough with different fillings. Here's my thoughts: - egg/sausage/cheese: one of my standard orders if I'm coming for breakfast! Not much sausage but the eggs are not rubbery. I'd recommend either this or the egg/bacon/cheese depending on which breakfast meat you prefer - ranchero: I didn't think I'd like this one since it has jalapeños but they added a nice little spice without being overpowering. A new favorite! - fruit kolaches: overall I've found these to be very sweet, I wouldn't really recommend for breakfast but they'd be a nice afternoon snack! - Italian chicken: yum! Nicely seasoned chicken, would recommend if you like Italian flavors - sausage and gravy: a hit or miss, sometimes the gravy is a little dry/chunky but when it's done well it's good! Not a bad first introduction to the infamous kolaches I hear that are prevalent in Houston, thanks to their large Polish community. Kolaches, simply put, are doughy bread pieces balled up that usually contain a type of vegetable, meat or sweet filling. Very similar to the "perashki" or the "ponchik ". We decided to order some before our road trip and I was sort of underwhelmed to see the various types of kolaches displayed behind the cashiers with no protective containers...free for any flies or bugs to get on them. Not to mention, some of these contained scrambled eggs in them like the ranchero one I ordered. If we wanted then heated, they would microwave it in the paper bag and hand it to us. It just didn't seem like the most sanitary. The place itself isn't the cleanest. The ambiance isn't that exciting. The coffee options are limited and don't taste that great. The cold brew was in a plastic pitcher and the ice we requested was dispensed from the soda fountain machine that the poor employee had to awkwardly walk over to in order to fill up. Just wasn't an ideal place to come back to. The taste of the kolaches weren't bad though. EGG CHEESE SALSA (4/5): Pretty yummy combination of scrambled egg, melted cheese and salsa wrapped in a doughy ball of goodness. SAUSAGE JALAPEÑO CHEESE (3/5): It was okay. Nothing crazy. When my youngest daughter stated that she never been to one, we were surprised we had never ever gotten her kolache from there when growing up. So I treated her one morning to a Kolache Factory breakfast. She ordered beef sausage and I went with the sausage in gravy. I also got a large Katz pecan flavored coffee. My daughter fell in love with the large beefy sausage and regret not getting two. My kolache was also very tasty, just the right amount of spice in the gravy to give it a good morning wake up kick. Coffee was hot and really good. Service was friendly and efficient. The shop is small and does get crowded during morning rush. But there were enough employees to keep the lines moving quickly. I stumbled in this place on accident. It's next to AT&T and I was a little hungry so I went after leaving there. It's very clean in here. It was early, around 1pm, so I felt I would still have plenty options, but I didn't. So I tried the spicy chicken croissant. It was good, great flavor. I just wish it have more filling in it to compliment the extra bread. Needless to say, it held me over til I could get some real food. OMG! This is like the most addicting thing ever. I always used to get kolaches when I bought donuts, but they usually only carry sausage or ham/cheese kolaches. This is not bad but a place which makes JUST kolaches. Could this be a good idea? YES!!! You name it and kolache factory puts it in a bun. My personal favorite is the ham and cheese kolache. Yes this is a classic but they give a good twist. Their ham is chopped up into little cubes and packed full. These things are addicting as crack, I start eating one and the next thing you know the box is empty. They also make some of the best Cinnamon rolls PERIOD. read more

A most unsettling interaction. I say to the clerk, "good morning, may i please have 3 hot polish?" He responds with silence and direct eye contact. I say, "i am sorry i didnt hear you." He responds, "i didnt say anything". So here's the problem...where does this interaction go? Do clerks no longer say a greeting? Do they no longer ask, "Will that be all?" Great place to get breakfast. The kolaches were good as was the coffee. In shop dining is limited but most customers seem to get their orders to go, so finding a seat isn't too difficult. I was introduced to Texas Kolaches when I first visited to Houston... (back home they are cookies) and ever since I've been obsessed! There are so many different filling options (like Italian chicken, bacon egg and cheese, & jalapeño popper) that I have already tried and I haven't been disappointed in a single one (the jalapeño sausage and cheese is a classic & also my fave)! I also suggest getting your Kolaches warmed up. I really appreciate that the Kolaches aren't expensive, I think typically they're around $3 each, so you can get a variety for a good price. Their macchiatos are also very delicious and give me energy without feeling cracked out. Lol. P.s. check in on Yelp before your visit and they will give you a buy 1 get 1 free coupon! :D They do close a little early, around 1:30pm, and sometimes they run out of flavors if you dont get them early enough.. so just be aware of that. There are just a couple booths for guests to sit/eat at but bc of covid those are blocked off. The staff at this location has always been very kind and the environment has always been clean.
