We were all VERY pleased with our variety of meals, which were chosen from the 'lunch specials' menu. The server was very patient with our many questions and efficient with service. Okay after 10+ years this is still my favorite place around. The food is fantastic and consistent. Great service always I doordashed my order today because I am housebound with a newborn. The food was nice and hot and delicious. I ordered the Chicken Sutani Combo (chicken kabob & chicken koobideh with rice, grilled tomatoes, and pita bread) and Mast O Khiar (Persian cucumber mint and green onion yogurt). At dinner there was one server for five tables and she was overwhelmed. The service was awful, either due to understaffing or inexperience. She practically threw our water at us (we requested it three times before she brought the glasses), they were out of at least two common beers on the menu, and she simply could not determine who ordered what. Let me start by saying it's a good thing I like Persian food--because I literally eat it 24/7 because I live with a Persian. I've had ample opportunity to try a wide array of home-cooked and restaurant supplied Persian food and Kolbeh Kabob is on the top of my list for the Sacramento area. The restaurant has pleasant atmosphere and the prices are comparable to other Persian restaurants. I believe the reason that prices for Persian food skew higher is because of the quality and freshness of the ingredients. Persians are incredibly selective about the food they prepare and it all starts with the best ingredients. They bring bread, fresh herbs, and cheese to your table when you first arrive. You can eat it as is, or hold off until you get your entrée, and combine it with your entrée. Koobideh (ground beef kabob): The Koobideh was amazing. Best in town. Fresh taste, moist, perfectly balanced blend of spices. Rice: I upgraded to the Zereshk Polo (rice with Barberries) because I LOVE it! Zereshk adds a slight burst of flavor that is sweet and tangy at the same time. The rice was cooked well too (restaurants tend to undercook it). Joojeh (chicken kabob): I was disappointed by the joojeh kabob. It was covered with cayenne pepper and extremely spicy as a result. I've never seen joojeh kaboob cooked this way. I think the menu should have given a warning because it's completely outside the norm. I gave Kolbeh Kabob 4/5 stars because of this. It may be their "trademark" style, but it needs to be called out to level customer expectations and warn those who can't eat spicy food. Overall it was a great dinner and we'll be back for sure! read more

Despite lots of lattices-- behind frames and on the ceiling with fake plants hanging from it.. I think it's a nice interior. Our server was very welcoming and nice. We didn't even try to pronounce names in the menu and she was fine with us just pointing, then she'd pronounce the words for us, and we nodded, "Yes, that one". (I appreciate her saying the word.. It steps us in the direction of familiarity.) The food was good. Dinner started off with pita bread, fresh herbs, feta, and butter. Our appetizer and entrees followed. The entrees were large portions. Like, eat half and take the rest home kind of large. I had a Living Social voucher, which, they run periodically. They automatically add gratuity to the check and then subtract the voucher amount. All in all, it was a good meal AND! We came here as we had a groupon but someone told me a few years ago that I should come here as we are vegetarians while we waited for our order we were brought pita bread with feta cheese and herbs. this was a nice touch and although the pita had been warmed it was a little chewy so it might have been better steamed. I ordered the eggplant and my partner had the Vegetarian Kabob with Addas Polo which is a cinnamon and lentil rice. The meals were huge and very flavorful. I enjoyed my food and ate too much. I loved the meal and will definitely come back. The only consideration is that as mentioned by others it is a bit expensive as our meal for 2 and one drink was $30.
