Stopped by for dinner about a month ago. My BFF and I had the chicken breast and koobideh kabobs. Both were delicious and the rice was perfect. The pre-meal bread and herbs were soft and fresh, respectively. The only thing I wasn't thrilled with was the salad shirazi. Seemed to have an overkill of herbs and spices, although its possible that's how it's supposed to be. I would definitely eat here again. read more

I discovered this restaurant a couple of years ago, as it's hidden in an odd location in town and is easy to pass by without noticing, yet I've made this a staple. The atmosphere is comfortable and inviting. They sometimes offer live music (they play softly in a corner of the restaurant) and live belly dancer(s), which makes it quite fun. The food served to me has always been fresh and delicious. I've experienced flavors and flavor combinations here that I've not experienced previously, which keeps me coming back. Their menu is sufficient, as you will be able to find something that everyone at the table will enjoy. Their staff have always been prompt and curteous. We love this place and have been many times over the last few years. It is great for dine in or takeout. The service is friendly. I recommend the eggplant appetizer or any of the kebabs. If you have 4 or more, the "sultan's feast" is great fun. This is a nice, locally owned restaurant with friendly service and very good food. This place was amazing. we had kashk bademjan which is eggplant paste.The dish comes with fresh vegetables and cheese and fresh bread from oven. Gormeh sabzi is vegetable from heaven with lamb meat melting in your mouth. Sultani kabob was delicious we had very good night. read more

I've never eaten Persian food before until tonight so I can't compare Kolbeh Kabob to any other Persian places. I got the Chicken Sultani and they warned me verbally that the ground chicken portion was spicy. Well it wasn't. At all. I thought the entrée was relatively plain with only the meats and flavorless white rice. The service was good, as has been said it was attentive without being annoying. Went for a late week day lunch. It was very quiet and we had excellent service. What I appreciated most was how willing they were to talk with me about the food! They explained what different items were that I was totally unfamiliar with and really made the experience a great one. I didn't feel embarrassed for not knowing, they were so warm and welcoming that it almost felt like eating at a friend's house. The food was very flavorful and delicious! I had a coupon so I convinced my husband to drive here from Folsom. The food was good, portions were huge. I too enough food home for lunch. On Fridays and Saturday nights they have belly dancers I was having dinner with my husband and found the belly dancer awkward for me to look at. My husband felt the same. She was very good and very pretty but as a women I feel weird when I am having dinner with my husband to have a half naked women dancing seductivly in front of us while I am eating dinner. This is my favorite restaurant in the Sacramento area. The food is outstanding and service is as well. I've known the owner since the early 90's when he began serving food in Lincoln when he owned the Zebra Town deli! He has moved to Orangevale and has the best Mediterranean menu in the area. I was looking forward to trying this place and even went twice to make sure our first time wasn't a fluke. Sorry but the food is bland and waaay overpriced. First, I've never had Persian chicken kabob with no sumac or spices -- it tasted like nothing both times. I was told the beef also tasted bland and half of it was thrown out. They are really cheap on the bread portions and the bread wasn't anything like what you get at most other Iranian restaurants do we felt totally ripped off for what we paid. We ordered one person who was on a Paleo diet, the kabob over salad instead of rice and they charged us $4 extra for iceberg lettuce! $21 for a chicken salad! My goodness! As if the rice dish wasn't already overpriced. Forget it. Despite super nice owners and staff, we are not returning again. No wonder it's always empty. read more

I don't think service is their strong suit. I asked them if they did take out and they assured me that it would not be an issue. There was only one other patron in the restaurant during this time. My man and I waited over 45 minutes for our order. They did not try to make amends. They told me that the wait was due to the fact that I ordered thigh meat as opposed to breast. Funny, you would think that if that were true (which it is not) they would have warned me because I explained to them that we were getting take out due to being on our lunch hour. We paid 15.99 for essentially a pound of rice and a few pieces of thigh meat. Never again. read more

I have been to this establishment twice now each time being a couple years apart and I was not disappointed. The first visit was with a moms group as we gathered for a fun night out filled with yummy food. The second visit was at lunch time with my husband and sister in-law. Both visits went great, we were seated promptly and the food came in a timely manner. This was my husbands first visit and our waitress was extremely helpful with his decision making, giving suggestions of what he should try and when the food came out she took the time to explain exactly how he should eat his meal. We just discovered a new go-to place to eat on Sundays after church. We ordered the "All Koobideh" which included the beef, chicken and lamb koobideh. We began our meal with warm pita bread, mixed fresh herbs and fresh paneer cheese. We had also ordered the "Shirazi Salad". This made a wonderful cucumber/tomato/onion filling for our pita bread along with the herbs and paneer. The main entree came out very quickly. All the koobideh were very moist and flavorful. I am glad we upgraded to the Stamboly Polo rice because it added an extra depth of flavor and moistness to the rice. We are always in the habit of sprinkling the sumac spice (it is in the glass container with the shaker holes in it) actually over everything on our plate (rice and meat). It is a very mild spice that gives a touch of tartness to the dish, in the same way a squeeze of lemon would. We look forward to going back and trying their steaks and stews. Enjoy! read more

I was wanting to try something new and yelp led us to yet another fascinating find! Talk about terrific service! When the waitress found it was our first time she went through the menu making sure we understood everything and answered all our questions. We ordered the chick kabob with the cinnamon rice and the lamb kabob with cinnamon rice. But first she surprised us by bringing out an appetizer for us to try. Pitas with feta cheese and mint. Very tasty. I was shocked when I saw how much food came out on the plate, we easily could have split a dish which made me feel better about the price. The meat was tender, juicy, and so flavorful!
