Love love love!!! If you are looking for authentic Hawaiian/ Japanese small dishes, then Musubi is where you wanna go! This location is well placed by the Royal Hawaiian Center. We came here in the afternoon time, which is a must, considering they sell out quick. We ordered Eel, with Egg and spam. Also their fried shrimp roll, and a few other onigiri's. Price is affordable and the staff are extremely friendly. They also sell some small souvenirs and gifts Love their food so much. There are many locations of Musubi throughout the Honolulu, Waikiki, area. Some places are larger than this location. Nothing satisfies quite like a walk over to Musubi Cafe for a little musubi snack! It's one of the things I look forward to most whenever I visit Waikiki Beach Walk. I stopped by Musubi Cafe Iyasume while visiting Waikiki after hearing so many recommendations on TikTok, but unfortunately, my experience didn't quite live up to the hype. Ordering was quick and straightforward, as you simply choose from the selection of prepared musubi at the counter. Service was average, and nothing particularly stood out during the visit. Avocado Eel Egg Spam Musubi: 3/5 The combination of avocado, eel, egg, and Spam sounded delicious, but the execution fell short of expectations. The biggest disappointment was the rice, which was noticeably firm and tasted somewhat stale rather than soft and freshly made. The Spam was sliced very thin, and both the Spam and unagi were somewhat dry, leaving far too much rice in comparison to the toppings. As a result, the generous amount of rice overshadowed the flavors of the different ingredients in each bite. While the ingredients paired well together, the overall flavor was fairly unremarkable and didn't leave much of an impression. Overall, Musubi Cafe Iyasume didn't quite live up to its reputation. While the concept and ingredient combination showed plenty of promise, fresher rice, a better rice-to-topping ratio, and more memorable flavors would have made for a much more enjoyable musubi. read more

I like this location, it's very easy to get too and there is a lot of shopping in this area. You are steps away from the Royal Hawaiian shopping center. They offer a lot of musubi's here, but I feel not as much as the original location of the shop in Ala Moana. If you are headed to the beach musubi is a perfect snack to grab for later or eat on the way! My favorites are the spam with egg bacon avocado, and the cucumber ume, but I don't think they have the cucumber one here. I knew I had to pop in and I'm so glad I did. They make musubis with Koshihikari Rice and they are all handmade. We actually saw a Koshihikari Rice delivery while there. What a great little musubi shop. They have all different kinds including more traditional ones to some over the top ones. They're priced right for being right on the beachwalk and make for a great snack at the beach. We grabbed a few different ones and took them to the beach nearby. The storefront is cute, the cashier was nice, however the ratio of filling-to-rice was way off. I love love love this musubi spot. I personally love the ones with cheese. I got a black and pepper spam musubi and it has cheese in there and it was sooooo delicious. I stopped by here on my way to the beach because of how popular it is. There's usually a long line, but I got lucky this time and there wasn't one at all. All of the musubis were tasty, though I do wish they'd cut back a bit on the rice and add more protein. That said, the flavors were still solid. After running the Start to the Park 10k race, part of the JAL HONOLULU MARATHON, I was gingerly walking back to my hotel from Kapiolani Park to the Hilton Hawaiian Village, I stumbled upon the Musubi Cafe Iyasume. I hadn't had breakfast yet, so, I got the original SPAM teriyaki, bacon/egg/SPAM and the shrimp tempura musubies to bring back to the room (and my sleeping wife). The musubies were Onolicious!!! As much as I hate to admit it, one of the more disappointing things I ate during my last visit to Honolulu were the musubis from Musubi & Bento Iyasume. Between all of the praise that I'd heard and my own excitement to finally try them, it'd be fair to say my hopes were pretty high. Which, in turn, contributed to why I felt underwhelmed by the experience. However, after making a point of checking out one of their sister locations with much more modest expectations, I'm happy to say that the food tasted far more impressive! Now, while I actually prefer the homely, hole-in-the-wall nature of Musubi & Bento Iyasume, nearly everything else about Musubi Cafe Iyasume Beachwalk is objectively better. Despite also not being all that big, just having the space to comfortably fit multiple customers inside at one time makes this location so much larger. As for the menu, it's all too familiar, featuring a wide variety of musubis, onigiri, (non-sushi) rolls, bowls, and a mix of hot foods, like miso soup, gyoza, and even TONJIRU! Plus, if you're looking for some souvenirs, they also have a great selection of merch, including t-shirts, spam musubi kits, stickers, sauces, seasonings, and a cute collection of tote bags. -- AVOCADO EEL EGG SPAM MUSUBI...$4.88 Spam, eel, egg. avocado...tasty individually and even better when put together. I also liked that this wasn't heavily slathered with sauce, but, compared to the slice of spam and the egg, I do wish the piece of eel had been larger. -- SHRIMP AVOCADO SPAM MUSUBI...$3.98 Although the eel one was tastier, we actually liked this one slightly more. Not surprisingly, the shrimp tempura wasn't super crispy, but it still had some crunch and I liked how filling this one felt, even without the egg. Along with how both of these flavors of their musubi were way more flavorful than the ones I had before (Teriyaki and Bacon & Egg), the thing I'm actually most impressed by is how little the prices have changed. In the last 5+ years, the ones I had before have only gone up by about $.25, which is pretty amazing given all that has happened in that time that has driven up prices for everything else in the world (inflation, COVID, tariffs, etc.). Sadly, despite how much more I liked the musubis this time around, my visit to Musubi Cafe Iyasume Beachwalk still came with some regrets (albeit of a different nature). Since we only came here to grab some snacks for later, we didn't try anything else, particularly tonjiru and bowls nor any of their onigiri or rolls. Spam and egg- 3/5: the egg layer make up for the thin slice of spam. Overall, just ok. Wish they had chicken musubis, but they only offer spam or the Onigiri style with very little filling. You can grab a ton for on the go and the beach. They also sell cute musubi apparel and stickers and such too. There isn't any dining inside but there's some benches and seating along this mall walking around stores and hotels. Service was quick and the ladies were very friendly!
