BYOB & chill neighborhood sushi spot Great and attentive service Good quality sushi for the price (it's a very extensive sushi menu) There's a lot of different options, some classic combinations (spicy tuna, dragon, etc) as well as more adventurous rolls. Loved how they cut the pieces slightly smaller than other places so you're not taking forever to chew through a bite. 10/10 would be back

Delicious sushi, lots of vegetarian options, and a chill ambiance that is not overly pretentious! I did make a reservation not knowing how busy they'd be on a Saturday night. There was plenty of space but I sat at the bar (although it picked up a bit as the night went on) and was able to watch the chefs prepare and chat a little with them. The service was fast and friendly. Knowing they are BYOB, I grabbed a drink from Garfield's nearby and the server at Komorebi gave me a glass but also provided water. I got edamame, the tequila roll, and chili mango. Honestly it was all delicious, but the chili mango roll stood out to me the most as the perfect complement to the tequila roll. The mango was so fresh and tasty. Highly recommend ordering them together!

Komorebi sushi has a huge menu, including a lot of very good veggie roll options. They have the basic veggie rolls like a lot of restaurants, but then they also have SIX speciality veggie rolls, which I have found is very rare for a sushi place! I ordered the crispy rice as an appetizer (which does have fish) and then the inari roll for my meal. All the veggie rolls sounded good but I ended up going with the inari roll because I love fried tofu and kampyo. This was overall a really good meal and I will definitely be back to try the other rolls!

I was surprised by how much I liked this place. Their specialty rolls almost deterred me from trying it out because I wasn't sure how all the flavors would work but I recommend trying Komorebi! Fish was fresh, service was quick and friendly. It is a cute and cozy place. We ordered - salmon sashimi - aloha roll - this was my favorite roll. I love fruity flavors with my food - dragon roll - a good classic roll - garlic salmon - I took the jalapeño out but this roll surprised me the most and I liked it. The garlic was strong but not overpowering - tropical - a refreshing roll

The sushi deluxe combo was a great deal for 2. It came with 10 pieces of nigiri, a caterpillar roll, rainbow roll, and salad. All pretty tasty and no complaints. I liked how there was some wasabi underneath each slice of fish in the nigiri - not every place does this! Wasn't too busy on a Sunday night but service was a bit slower than we liked - could be bc we were sitting by the window and it was out of the peripheral view of the staff. They were kind and helpful when we did catch their attention though!

Everyone needs a Komorebi in their neighborhood! Finally had the chance to try their menu and was so impressed. After spending a sizable amount of time perusing the menu, I settled on the Smokey and Green In rolls. I ordered via delivery and both survived the trip well with a lovely presentation to boot. The Smokey roll was absolutely outstanding- the charred salmon was perfectly complemented by a creamy shrimp filling and crunchy spice of jalapeno. Generally, I am dubious about excessive sauces on sushi, but the wasabi mayo perfectly tied together the flavor notes. A sprinkle of cilantro really took the dish to the next level. The Green In roll was excellent as well and very refreshing- the veggies were so crunchy and the sesame sauce brought a refreshing sweetness to the spicy jalapeno. I really appreciated how fresh all of the ingredients were (especially the fish) and that the fillings were very generous. Still dreaming about this sushi and already looking forward to next time. Can't recommend Komorebi enough!

This is still my favorite sushi spot!! Not much to update from my last review, except that I've been here 4 times now and I love it more and more each time! The food: We tried some new dishes and they were all amazing and worth a try!! Ocean vinaigrette: A unique roll that features a blueberry ponzi vinaigrette. It was refreshing and fruity in the best way! Tequila: A very refreshing roll with a spicy kick, wrapped in soy bean paper, and beautifully arranged in a floral shape! Hamachi Carpaccio: Thinly sliced hamachi wrapped around thinly sliced radish with a refreshing sauce!! Baked Sake Roulade: A flavor bomb!!! So good, a must try!

Our server, Jacob, was helpful and his recommendation of the Lyonnaise Potatoes did not disappoint. My partner said the steak sandwich was the best they ever had. The filet was easily the best steak I've ever had though the dry-aged ribeye at Abrasado in Mendoza, Argentina is a close second. The grand martini was a perfect pairing for the chilled seafood. They threw in a complimentary brownie with ice cream for a bday dessert which was appreciated on multiple levels. We're not affluent and a meal like this was definitely a splurge but I have zero complaints and would 100% come back for a comparable special occasion. Since then, I've had crab cakes all over the U.S. and Hugo's remained my gold standard. Tonight, 12 years later, we returned to Hugo's on Rush Street downtown Chicago. We had a 6 pm reservation on a Monday night. We were given the option to eat in the special Elevator Car, so we chose it. It was a bit tight getting into the bench seating but once in, we were quite comfortable and it was really quaint. I'm glad we chose it. Our server tonight was Stephanie O and she was amazing. So knowledgeable, so pleasant and very accommodating. We told Stephanie we planned to take it a bit slow, starting with cocktails. She took our cocktail orders and we took our time enjoying them, admiring our special Elevator Car and pondering dinner options. Of course, a Crab Cake was definitely happening! Stephanie checked in with us from time to time and when we were ready, we asked her to drop a Crab Cake order. Oh my - it was amazing, just like the last time! Just enough breadcrumbs in it to hold it together. Baked, then seared on both sides on the flat top and served with their house made remoulade. For us, this menu item and a service as great as it was from Stephanie and the rest of the team was enough of a reason to come to Hugo's. After we'd finished sharing the Crab Cake, Stephanie stopped by with the fresh fish options platter to explain each one to us, how it would be prepared and what it would be like. We nearly went for the Snapper but dropped back to our original thought of trying their Shrimp De Jonghe along with a dinner salad. So glad we did as the Shrimp De Jonghe was really tasty and just enough food. The salad and shrimp meal were both kitchen-split for us. Nice touch - thanks team! I have to add that we've had Shrimp De Jonghe somewhere else and we recall it as not being as good as Hugo's. I like how their breadcrumb on the shrimp here was less a breading and more of a dusting. I'd like to mention the rest of the staff we saw in action. The hostesses were quite pleasant, found our reservation and seated us with pleasure. The table team from the water guy, to him and others clearing completed items was excellent. The chef or one of the cooks brought out our split Shrimp De Jonghe. That was a nice touch. And of course our server Stephanie - amazing. Great meal tonight at Hugo's and over the top service from everyone. We will be back - maybe even this week.

The food was good, but the service was mediocre at best. Our server barely checked on us, and we often felt ignored. We asked if they offered a complimentary birthday dessert after seeing birthday celebrations featured on social media and were told no. After we paid, the birthday girl spoke with a manager, who then offered her a chocolate cake and told her to ask for him if she came back. At that point, the moment had already passed. Our fries also came out cold and took about 20 minutes to be replaced. On top of an already expensive bill, there was an additional fee added for staff benefits, which we requested to have removed. The complimentary drink for the table and personalized birthday menu were nice touches and made us think we were in for a great night, but unfortunately the experience went downhill from there. I've had friends visit Maple & Ash and receive much better service, so maybe we caught them on an off night. But at this price point, I expected attentive service and a memorable birthday experience.
