This is a fabulous place. Ambience? Check! Friendly and knowledgeable staff? Check! Clean and well kept bathrooms? Check! Now for the food... Calamari ... now this is an especially important yardstick I use to measure the quality of seafood. The fried calamari was perfect. Yes, crispy yet not overly cooked. The sauce served with it, is to die for! The sushi is as good as the ones in Asia. I come from Asia and the options for good quality Asian food here is sadly, lacking. However, as I said, the sushi here is of high quality. Tastes fresh and they use real slices of fresh tuna instead of the mush that is served in too many places here. I got an order delivered to me (props on the speed at such a late hour on a weekday), but man was it garbage. I wouldn't mind how expensive it was if it was good, but it wasn't. I ordered: Brussels sprouts: There were so few (literally, I think 5) and they were SO dry, I wonder if they had been sitting out for hours before throwing remnants in a container and sending them to my house. $8! Avocado Egg Rolls: these could have been mediocre, but they used BAD avocado in it. Inedible. There were two of them and they were $17. Potstickers: Lousy Chinese restaurants have better potstickers. There were 6, making this the largest portion of everything I got, fried to a crisp and had nothing in them but chicken (or something that resembles chicken, anyway). No scallions or anything to add flavor. Most edible, but plain and significantly overpriced at $17 I don't care about inflation; these prices are absolutely appalling, and the food is horrible. I'm aware you get gypped when you order food for delivery, but this was out of control. Hard pass on ever trying this place again. read more

So I know will judge every steak I eat in El Paso by this place. I was not expecting to like their food so much. The vide is kind of edgy and modern with music that is loud but not to loud. We started off the night with sake and a cucumber southside to drink. We also ordered some calamari. Honestly looking back I won't order an appetizer cause of the portion size of the main meals . I ordered their surf and turf with the sunset roll and fillet(medium rare). He ordered the surf and turf with the spider roll and ribeye (medium). Literally we both agree the best steak we have had in El Paso (sorry west Texas chop house ). I also ordered a coconut rum cake for dessert. I ended up having to take most the cake home cause of the amount of food we received. Totally worth the price and will be back A LOT. read more

Let me just start off with... I love coming here during happy hour!! I've brought my mom here twice now for happy hour and it's been a great experience. I haven't made it for dinner here yet so I can't really say much on any other experience other then happy hour. The service is also excellent... both times I've been here our servers have been super attentive. Besides the service the food on the happy hour menu is on point delicious!! We were seated promptly on a Thursday night. Our hostess was welcoming and allowed us to choose our table outside. It was decently busy, but manageable. We gave our order to our server at 2050, after waiting about 5 minutes for him to offer drinks. Nicholas was pleasant, however as a former server, it's courteous to notify your guests of anything out of the norm. ie kitchen being backed up with orders. He only returned with our food 1/2 an hour later and left us for another 15 mins. It would be good for the manager on shift to advise their servers to continue communication at all times with their guests. It helps with the experience. We all get busy. Just a heads up and a little patience would have made our experience better. Other than the absence of Nicholas, our food was great! read more

What a great spot for a office lunch outing! Lots of seating, great service and happy hour starts at 2pm! I went wit some co workers and we had planned this weeks in advance, we all took leave for the afternoon so that we would not feel rushed and could really talk and visit with each other. It was great. I had the sea bass that was cooked to perfection in a buttery sauce . It came with the best fried rice I ever had and some bokchoy...just perfect. Service and drinks are consistent with any other Kona Grill, but the sushi rolls at this location were Not!! It's pricey, but you're not paying for the food quality here, you're paying for the ambiance & decor. Unfortunately this hasn't been a one-time instance, I really wanted to hold off before giving them less than 5 stars but I've been there at least three times now and the food has been consistently Off each time in different ways. Sushi rolls are made really heavy on things it shouldn't, like more cream cheese, certain sauces, or veggies than necessary. Sashimi looks to be either sliced smaller or at least once had an off-putting not fresh smell (yes, it was sent back). Other food on the menu is just MEH...it's not great. I've definitely had better made food from other Kona Grills. But hey if you're just looking for a nice place with an intimate feel to go for happy hour and order a few fried apps. Great server, no issues there. Super bland food. A manager called me offering a promotion and it was forgotten, however our server was willing to help accommodate. First got an over cooked steak, then an under cooked steak. Lobster butter is hot garbage and wasn't even taken out of wax paper wrapping. None of my kids finished their mediocre burgers. Cushions are gross and dirty. If it were cheap food I could let it go, very not worth the price. read more

Service was friendly, we ordered beer and skinny margarita. Beverage selection was enough to please everyone, but I wouldn't say it's extensive. We ordered the Oriental Salad, small, I added salmon to mine. Portion was perfect for lunch, and we split a flatbread pizza, which came out more lukewarm than hot. My daughter loved that they had kids meals (which come in a bento box) and included California roll cut. Only reason for the 4 star was delay in the drinks each round. I ordered my steak medium well and it' was more like medium rare, didn't have any flavor. At times the steak tasted sweet for some reason. I ordered a vodka soda and I got a vodka water. Went here for my nieces bday. Disappointed with the food is an understatement. For food being so expensive it's a shame it came out cold. There were 9 of us and 3 of our meals were returned because of the temperature. Prime rib, Surf and turf and the chicken with lime rice were the meals that were returned to the kitchen. The manager offered us a complimentary soup or salad, but for a bill that exceeded $450...not quite sure how a soup or salad would make up for it. Will not be returning. read more

Awful and disappointing. Nothing about the food is Hawaiian or grilled. The food did not taste fresh and the temperature was Luke warm. We got calamari and it tasted salty and liked old oil. I ordered prime rib and half of it was fat and it tasted processed and old, the a jus was weird and was supposed to be some kind of Japanese taste but tasted like watered down Worcestershire sauce. The mashed potatoes were miso flavored but just awful and dry. My daughter ordered the chicken and turmeric rice, just awful, chicken tasted baked from last week. Think I've had better frozen dinners from sprouts and it just missed the mark on tasting Hawaiian. Btw I lived in Hawaii 4 years so I know a little bit of the authentic flavors. It's sad if you are an El Pasoan and have only tried this and get turned off to Hawaiian food because of it. A little pricey too. I brought my mom here for Mother's Day brunch. I made reservations at 11am. When we arrived, I was surprised there were not many people yet. We ordered within 10 mins of being seated. As we drank our mimosas, the restaurant started to get full. Turns out it had been 40 mins since we placed our order. I asked our server to check, and she said they were backed up. She even admitted a table who ordered at 10:45am was still waiting on their food. Our food finally arrived after an hour and fifteen Mins. It looked delicious! Too bad it was COLD! I'm giving this place two star because we had a great waitress! I was not impressed at all. The fish on the sushi was chewy. So expensive for the quality. My husbands pasta had no sauce he had to asked the waitress more sauce. Not impressed with the food at all. This place is more like the hit and missed restaurants.
