This place is an absolute treasure here in Longmont!! I love the energy from the workers, always serving us with smile, and keeping their store clean! They're kind, awesome, and you can feel that sense of community (which in my eyes means yummy food). We always order the combos, specfically the chicken/spicy chicken/beef/etc. And it always ALWAYS comes out the same; absolutely delicious. The food taste fresh, homemade, and is just absolutely amazing. This is a place that my family and I go consistently and the service is ALWAYS the same AMAZING!! I just happen to run into this place on the way to a baseball game so I of course had to stop and eat cause I love me some Hawaiian food! Immediately when you walk in there is a weird odor but it didn't stop me from ordering. I was immediately greeted and had my order taken. I ordered the Kona special which is where you order two meats and white rice and Hawaiian macaroni comes with it. The two meats got was Kalua pork and the chicken katsu which both didn't disappoint. It wasn't like the best Hawaiian food but it was pretty good tbh and I would definitely come back! The macaroni was creamy and was as close to the real Hawaiian macaroni as it gets! Food is acceptable but the real problem here is is the amount of single use packaging used, styrofoam trays, plastic forks, plastic bags...even for dine in. There are biodegradable options out there. Use them and I may give you a second chance. No matter how good the food could be, nothing could offset the feeling of looking at the pile of permanent trash created by each and every meal served here. read more

I've been in twice for lunch now and both times have been great. I neglected to add the photo for the second meal just to give some variety, but trust me when I say that it was just as pretty lol. Okay! So the restaurant is in a large shopping center that stretches for a couple of blocks in Longmont - stores like Lowe's, Best Buy, various clothing shops, and a Petco are just a few in the area. There are also lots of restaurants around and very large parking lots to accommodate people. We went in most recently after a nice walk along the St. Vrain Greenway just down the road; we were feeling like grabbing a quick bite of something that wasn't going to sit like bricks in our stomachs lol. Kona has a fairly small dining area that feels like what you might see and experience at fast food restaurants; there isn't an over abundance of seating and food is ordered at a counter up front where you're given a number to listen for when your food comes up. The menu is pretty simple, while also giving a good amount of variety, and the price point I pretty reasonable. Both times I've gotten the "mini" meal, and both times I have not finished my plate. The first go around I ordered the fire chicken; the second time was the grilled chicken (which I sadly don't have a photo of... yet). I was expecting the fire chicken to be spicy, but it was pretty mild. The grilled chicken was prepared in strips that were easy to pick up with chopsticks. The meals also both came with a good amount of rice, macaroni salad, a couple broccoli florets, and cabbage. Both meals have been hot and fresh, and the flavors of everything are great! The restaurant is clean, including the restrooms, which is always a big plus for me. All of the staff members we've interacted with have been extremely friendly and are always smiling while they're talking with you. Really disappointing food, very bland fatty slices of meat. They only had forks no knives though to eat with. This wasn't finger food size. Macaroni salad with no flavor. The rice was ok with their available sauces. Just one of those places I can't recommend but if you want to try do the drive through so you can take it home and trim and cut the meat. read more

Kona was a restaurant I had been wanting to visit the past several times I was on Longmont and I was so happy that I was able to finally make it. I ordered the short rib plate which came with 3 short ribs, 2 scoops of rice and a scoop of macaroni salad. The rice and macaroni salad were ok but the ribs were absolutely delicious but surprisingly the star of the show was the steamed cabbage underneath the ribs. More often that not at Hawaiian BBQ places ( and I have been to many) tend to ignore the cabbage or whatever else they decide to put under the short ribs but this cabbage was amazing. The short ribs fat and juices drip down into it so it takes on that flavor but the fact that the steamed cabbage was done perfectly with just enough bit really make it stand out. First I'm happy it showed up from my DoorDash Driver, I was worried watching him on the map but he eventually made it! Second, their food reminds me of my times in Hawaii, like those really fun luaus from the 80s when I was in college on Spring Break! The macaroni salad was spot on. Only issue was the condition of my meal by the time it made it to me. Which I primarily blame on my driver, and his weird trip to make it to my home. It is worth a try- If you're used to Hawaiian BBQ from a chain called Ono Hawaiian Grill, then this is essentially the same concept. The person who helped me was kind and patient, which I don't expect, but really appreciated. I got takeout, so I can't comment on the Ambiance, but it looks like a typical fast food place. The mac salad is legit as far as I can tell. Not sure if it's made with the same mayo as what I had in Hawaii, but it's tasty so I don't care. Food came out great and not a long wait. I'm definitely going to be back; I am even trying to find excuses to go to harvest junction, which is a bit of a drive for me, but hey if it's for this food, I'll make the trip. read more

I could bathe in the macaroni salad, the rice is perfectly cooked, and I just love their crispy fried fish and chicken katsu. The drive up service is quick (not McDonald's quick) and friendly. If your looking for traditional Bbq, this is not the place, everything on my platter had no taste cabbage was bland, didn't even have its own (cabbage) flavor, the three pieces of broccoli that came with order was just dipped in hot water then dropped in platter the chicken and pork had no smoke flavor, mac&cheese was an insult to American cheese disaster, the only sauce they give you is some under achieving sweet who knows what sauce, oh and let's not forget about the two full ice cream scoops of white rice they drop in the platter, who puts rice in a barbecue platter?? when I asked what they have close to barbecue sauce I was told to try the teriyaki sauce, "like really" teriyaki sauce, LOL, nothing had any type of spice, not even a dash of pepper, will not be trying them again, don't know what could possibly be good in this place. read more

In response to Krystal D., don't bother visiting the place, the ambiance stinks. It's as 'fast-food' as you can get. You have to eat out of plastic to-go containers with plastic utensils! As far as the food goes, the meats are done well for the most part, but the beef had unchewable gristle in almost every bite. The shredded lettuce salad is lame, and the macaroni "salad" was basically pasta and mayo; it was missing the shredded carrots, and the tanginess that you get when you properly mix the mayo with vinegar. read more
