Best coffee I had in Disney! And it was also a great spot to grab a muffin- especially the mocha muffin and blueberry muffin.

My husband and I stopped here for a quick breakfast since we had an 8:00 tour in the Magic Kingdom. It is set up as a grab and go with tables nearby or if you want you can sit in any of the lounge chairs. I had the bacon, egg, and cheese croissant while my husband helped himself to one of their pastries. The croissant was fair. However, they do sell Kona Coffee here which is indeed worth a visit. As a matter of fact if you purchase a bag of Kona coffee from the Moana mercantile, they will grind your coffee purchase here for free. Kona Island opens at 6:30 which is perfect if you need to catch the Polynesian Village monorail nearby to head to the theme parks. Most of the other establishments open at 7 which doesn't give you much wiggle room. Still this place fit the bill for a quick breakfast so we could be on time for our tour that day. I've been stopping in for a press pot for years. Today is the last time unless they get back to what they were. I had to wait 10 min so I did at the window that somehow only has 2 chairs now. 10 min later I got 2 travel cups to go, never had that happen before. The coffee however, not sure why I had to wait, tastes like it came straight from a drip coffeemaker. They used to be so good, not sure what happened. read more

This is a small understated coffee bar that people always walk by because the monorail is steps away. Picture this, you've been drinking sucky Florida coffee all week. Your kids want to see characters for breakfast and what they served you is yuckko. If you love coffee, you owe it to yourself to hustle over to the Polynesian hotel and have breakfast at Kona Cafe. No breakfast for you? Didn't your mother tell you it's the most important meal of the day? Fear not weary parent, there's Kona island! I've always known this little tidbit. The first time I ate at Kona Cafe and had the press pot I said, wow! And then the waitress pointed to Kona Island. That was years ago. I always make it a point to have coffee here. Now you don't have to get the $9 press pot even though it's foolish not to, they can serve you a cuppa Kona blend in a single cup if so desired. Kona Island also serves lattes with flavored syrups as well as fresh baked goods. If you're taking advantage of the Disney dining plan, you may use a snack credit for a sticky bun or croissant. As for me? I'm staying this year at the hotel. My wife and adult sons are asleep, I grabbed my Kindle and ordered a fresh pot of Kona. What I can't finish, I have a cup of ice and made my wife a nice iced coffee. That's how you vacation son! Always treat yourself on vacation. If you like to eat candy apples, they're everywhere. Kona Island is a small counter-service stand located adjacent to the Kona Cafe at the Polynesian Resort. In addition to coffee, they serve quick-service pastries as well as sushi and poke bowls. I stopped here twice during my stay at the Poly. Both times I ordered French-press Kona coffee. The coffee was good, it had a smooth, bold flavor. There isn't anything too special about Kona Island which is why it gets a 3 from me. Also I found the service to be a tad slow one of the times I went so, a 3 it is. Their Kona coffee is good which would keep this on my list of finds in WDW. In all honestly though I would only come back here if I was staying at the Poly or hanging out there for a while. If you find yourself in either of these scenarios, I suggest you pull up a stool for some coffee. read more

Outstanding sushi - probably the best in DisneyWorld or tied with the California Grill. I really enjoy eating here as it is a walk up countertop sushi bar and I have never seen it full and is a welcome oasis from the usually packed DisneyWorld restaurants. I tried the lava shrimp roll and the combo plate and both were fantastic. As I said, the sushi is super tasty here and very well done. I will gladly return in the future. read more

I reallllly wish I knew about this little snack/coffee stop sooner. The coffee is excellent and the pastries are equally as good. The line moves along pretty quickly as well. With this being right next to Kona Cafe, it gives the versatility of being able to grab and go instead of waiting and waiting as the cafe can be slow- and really requires a reservation. I chose the almond iced coffee, added my own sugar and all along the backside. I also got the chocolate croissant, TO DIE FOR. A must stop! read more

During our May 2016 trip we at at Kona Cafe several times and once at the sushi bar because the cafe wait was way too long. You have to be strategic about getting a seat here when it is busy though as people will just swoop in. We managed to secure 4 seats right in front of the sushi chefs and it was so fun. They chatted with us while they made sushi and answered any questions we had. We eat sushi a lot here at home in San Francisco and thought that the sushi was good. I stuck mostly with the vegetarian rolls (as I do at home) and they were delicious. My husband had a variety of rolls and loved them. They made special avocado only rolls for my boys as well as brought potstickers from the main kitchen for us. Eating at Kona is not fast, just be aware of that, but it was a great dining experience. My friend and I were resort hopping off the monorail resorts and decided to have dinner here. We wanted to try Kona Cafe but they weren't accepting walk ins, so we found a spot in Kona Island. I ordered the tuna poke bowl as an appetizer, which could have been a meal on it's own and the hamachi tuna roll that had cilantro in it, which gave it a nice crunch and bite. I also ordered a drink but I cant remember what it is called but it was amazing. Service was good but a little slow since they have one person covering the whole area. I would definitely come back and try other items and desserts. read more

Good sushi with quick service. You can order off menu if you keep it fairly simple (e.g. Spicy tuna). Top tip: get a drink from Trader Sam's and then head upstairs for some sushi because the sushi at Trader Sam's tastes like literally nothing. Good seating for couples or small parties, but not great for larger groups because it's a bar setup. If you have a large group I would recommend reservations at the Kona Cafe. read more

This is more than just a coffee bar or takeout spot; they apparently serve everything that the Kona Cafe (right next to it on the second floor of the main building of the Polynesian Resort) does, with counter seating. I had the Ginger-Soy Chicken which was just okay, but I'm usually not a chicken orderer so take what I write with a grain of salt. The Plum Wine from Japan was excellent, though very sweet. Would you be dealing with overwhelming sweetness or a headache with more than 1 glass? Who's to say! For dessert the Kilauea Torte was quite good. It may have been slightly under-heated because the chocolate didn't quite "explode" out of it like a volcano as advertised. Still warm and tasty though, the cake itself being on the more subtle and light side (which I prefer for chocolate cakes) along with the sweeter, gooey center. read more

Great little spot in the Polynesian resort! The service was wonderful and attentive. The large sushi combo was filling and very tasty. I recommend this spot for a casual / relaxing meal. It is the same food menu as the larger Kona cafe, and often has no wait at all. read more

This place is everything you fear when you think about Disney hotel restaurants. A cheap touristy vibe that surrounds you from the walls to the people to the plates. Sure, there are a few things that were good, like the pot stickers and the duck entrée. But apart from those, everything else fell somewhere between mediocre and pretty darn bad. From blah to worse were the Chinese noodles, the crab cakes, the pork and the apple crumble. The dessert even being a recommendation by our server, which was so bad we literally only had three bites between three people. On the plus side, the signature cocktail comes with a glowing cube inside that is programmable to different colors. I highly recommend for the kids. We got two and they were in heaven playing at the table as if they were light sabers. read more

This place is a mess and should be a last resort only. We found items to order on the "To Go" menu on the wall because the seating was full. Then when we went to order we were told that the menu on the wall was a week old and we couldn't get that item. Okay...we found something else. After we were done ordering seats became available, but we were told we couldn't have them because we had ordered our food to go. Okay...then I asked how we would know if our food was ready. "Just come back and see," I was told. "Is it by check number?" I asked. "We don't do it that way," was the answer. "Just come back in maybe twenty minutes and it will be ready." You can bet I held onto my receipt. When we got the food the sushi roll didn't really work and the salad that came with the wings was wilted from the heat. Wow, no reviews?! This is my favorite restaurant on Disney property. I love their unique take on traditional sushi. The volcano and dragon rolls are the best. Also, make sure you order the sticky wings from Kona Café. The only negative, not even worth losing a star, is last time we were at the sushi bar ( March 2013) they no longer make the sushi in front of you, but back at the cafe. BTW, the scenery and vibe of this restaurant cannot be beat anywhere on property. read more

This is the best coffee I've had on Disney property by far. I'm a bit particular about my coffee (I'll drink Starbucks with a the syrups covering up the overroasted beans but it's not my favorite) and this place is yummy. I got the plain cafe latte and it was sweet and delicious. This stand has coffee drinks, pastries, and also serves sushi a bit later in the day. Was just treated rudely for the first time at Disney. Sat at the bar, in the corner, waiting for our tables next door at the restaurant. When the waiter offered us menus, & we said we weren't eating, he said "I need these seats guys"... Stood up but looked around... 1 person in one of their 19 stools. I never would have sat down if they were hurting for room. Everyone ordering at the counter was leaving, not sitting. We has actually been considering ordering a drink, too. read more
