This place is beautifully decorated and located to enjoy beautiful views of the Disney Areas. Valentina was our server, she was prompt and attentive. Very knowledgeable about the menu and was able to clear any doubts and document allergies accordingly. The food was amazingly delicious from beginning to end. Everything we tried was exceded our expectations. My kids being little sushi connoisseurs went to the bathroom and somehow ended up speaking to the chef about their beautifully curated VEGTARIAN sampler came back with a complimentary plate of each. Made a reservation here for a bachelorette and it was the perfect vibe for a girls night out. I requested to be seated where we could see the fireworks and had the reservation set for 7:30 to catch the 9pm fireworks. Exquisite Illume is a hidden gem tucked away in the JW Marriott bonnet creek. On the 16th (?) floor, you need to take a specific elevator to get to the restaurant. A bit of a hassle with little signage to guide guests. When you finally get there, that's when the unique experience starts. Friendly wait stop guided us to our table immediately. We got our orders promptly, it's nice to have the sushi kitchen in the middle of the dining room. The food looks like Art. Everything was presented beautifully. This restaurant is located on the 9th floor of the hotel. Great views and a nice place to see some fireworks too. Every staff member we encountered was top notch. The spicy tubs crispy rice was delicious. The oki and gyu were good but I didn't realize that basically would be similar rolls with different top so that was a tad disappointing- but that's on me. It's more of 3.5 but here's why; the views, the drinks and the food are good. it's on the rooftop of the JW and overall a great experience however it's just a little bit overpriced. Other notes- you can watch the epcot and Magic Kingdom fireworks from the roof so a few time your reservation correctly you also get dinner and a show. Wow. Wow. Wow. I was on a trip to Orlando to check out the new parks and rides and while the parks are fun, I was in desperate need of peace, quiet and real food. I found peace via a massage at this hotel following the massage I was starving but didn't want to find another lyft to another place. Plus, I'd read in advance about the rooftop bar. When I asked the young lady receptionist at the Spa by JW, she said the restaurant upstairs did have its regulars so I made a reservation. The earliest reservation was at opening so I had an hour to kill at the lobby restaurant/bar. When my reservation time came, I headed to their designated elevator. From beginning to end the service is welcoming and friendly. I opted for their omakase option. Everything was delicious; I apologize for not remembering all that I had but I included a picture of their omakase menu. The restaurant is beautiful and in a relaxing setting with amazing views and I got to enjoy a beautiful sunset along with and rain hitting against the window. The omakase was planned to perfection! For the main dish I had the Seared Branzino I mezcal dashi, sakura infused shoyu, charred baby heirloom tomato, crispy leeks, JW garden flower AND my goodness, I could've cried it was sooo good! I got the chef's choice of sashimi and an additional order of otoro. It did take a while to come out, including after everyone else in my party got their entire orders (multiple items each) since they have two kitchens; however, it was indeed very delicious and fresh. There was quite some variety in there with what appeared to be 3 kinds of tuna (including otoro), salmon, hamachi, scallop, mackerel, octopus, and another fish. It ended up being 19 pieces of fish. The ginger tasted delicious and not overpowering as well. Everyone else's orders did look and smell amazing, especially the yakisoba noodles and the drinks. After a relaxing day at the JW Spa for Mother's Day, I took myself on a little solo date up to the 9th floor to have dinner at illume. This is their Japanese rooftop bar & lounge, and I had been craving some sashimi all day. I grabbed a seat at the main bar (they also have some sushi bar seating) and their friendly staff introduced themselves, poured me some water and gave their signature rosemary nut blend of almonds & pistachios to snack on. I'm on a wellness journey, so I decided to start with their Kanazawa mocktail made with cucumber, rosemary matcha, grapefruit, and ginger. It was amazing and I would 100% order this drink again. I also ordered the spicy edamame for an appetizer which was super tasty (and a huge portion). This would be great for sharing with a group, but since it was just me, I took most of it home. I had my eyes set on the prize before I even arrived and ordered the Chef's Choice sashimi. Out came a gorgeous platter of 10 different types of fish & seafood which equated to about 18 pieces plus tamago sweet eggs. I can't remember every type but there was salmon, tuna, hamachi yellowtail, scallops, octopus, madai, otoro, chutoro fatty tuna, and more. It definitely hit the spot and cured my craving! Unfortunately, it was a rainy evening preventing the use of the outdoor space and the stunning rooftop views. Met up with coworkers who reserved the lounge for dinner to meet with clients. The Decor was very chic. The lounge was very intimate and had a large dining table with a living room setting and some extra pub tables along the sides. It sits directly behind the reception desk. The server was good actually she was great as was the manager. They asked if anyone had any food allergies, I told him that I have a Durham wheat allergy. They were sure to tell me every dish that included Durham wheat and recommended I do not eat those items. They did bring some items that did not contain Durham wheat, for me. Ambiance - 5 stars; beautiful setting and restaurant; the view from the rooftop bar is stunning. Service - 3 stars; mostly due to the runners who bring out the food, but our server Kristin deserves 5 stars for expertly taking all of our orders for the table of 14. Food - 3 stars; due to the hit and miss of some items as further discussed below. Drinks - 3 stars; specialty drinks are expensive and are light on the alcohol. You are paying more for the presentation. Credit card payment for a big group - 2 stars; you are allowed only 3 credit card payments per table so note that before going with a big party. Each credit card is automatically charged a 20 percent service charge even though my bill was only for three people. I gave an additional gratuity but be careful as you may "double tip" if you do not look closely at the bill. Overall, the four stars rating for the evening is mostly attributed to our outstanding server, Kristin. She handled our table of 14 boisterous individuals (birthday party celebration) with aplomb, patience and always a smile. Although she did a great job, the servers/runners who bring the food from the kitchen did not know where the food or drinks were supposed to be placed. We had several mix-ups, and the table was left to sort it out, including when some appetizers were sent down to the wrong side of the table. Illume needs a better system to identify where the food should be properly placed for a big group (especially when tacking on a required 20 percent service charge for a group of 6 or more). As for the food itself, I enjoyed the Chicken Potstickers the most. In fact, our group of 3 order it a second time. The Steak Bao Peis were ok. The bao itself was somewhat doughy and the steak in one was quite gristly. My friend loved the Oki Roll and, in fact, ordered a second one. The edamame was a big hit as everyone complimented that dish as we had several at the table. Comments from the other guests at the table said the food was good, but nothing to brag about considering the prices and the small portions. (Of course, you are in a JW hotel, so the high prices are expected.) Finally, Kristin informed us when the fireworks and the drone light display were about to start. She said we could leave our table to enjoy the light show on the rooftop patio area and then come back. Everyone agreed that was a major highlight of the evening. One last comment - the illume express elevator does not go back up after midnight. I took a friend down to her room (which requires you to change elevators). When I wanted to go back up to meet my friends at the rooftop, I found out the illume elevator only goes down after midnight. I texted my friends goodbye and I went to retrieve my car. read more

Not only did our server pay extra close attention to a food allergy but so did every member of the staff that came in contact with our table. We ordered apps for the table and every one that came out had an allergy flag on it so everyone knew it was safe to eat. And an avocado allergy is tough at a sushi place. But imma tell ya... the food was incredible. We got i think every app on the menu and all were so perfect i couldn't pick my favorite. Sushi was positively delightful, fresh, delicious. Perched atop the JW Marriott, this rooftop gem was a must visit. Despite not having a reservation, we were seated promptly and had the choice between cozy indoor seating and a charming outdoor patio. For a late-night snack, we ordered the bao buns, shishito peppers, and ikura--all of which were delicious. The shishito peppers were our favorite, and they were generous with the portion. While we had hoped to catch a glimpse of the Disney fireworks, they appeared quite distant and small from the rooftop. Located on the 9th floor of the beautiful JW Marriott Orlando Bonnet Creek, making the trip to ILLUME is well worth it for the view alone! The outside patio area gives a great view of Disney properties and the EPCOT Spaceship Earth. I highly recommend making a reservation as the place stayed pretty full most of the night. We initially requested a table outside but due to the high wind, decided to move inside and the atmosphere was great for our small group to talk and share food. The staff was very accommodating despite have a packed list of reservations. The Lychee Martinis were a hit amongst our group and they were able to accommodate making them with vodka instead of gin. It's a beautiful floral martini, not too sweet with a lychee ice ball in the center. The menu has a lot of great shareable items such as Edamame and Shishito Peppers, both cooked perfectly. We also tired the Sticky Ribs, with tender meat that fell right off the bone and had a flavorful asian bbq sauce. For entrees we split the GYU NO KANI, a snow crab and seared tenderloin roll along with a couple veggie rolls - the Wellness and the Crispy Garden Roll. The Wellness was light and fresh while the Crispy Garden had a perfect tempura crunch. Overall, it was a great experience with tasty food and drinks but the prices were pretty steep so most likely will save this one for special occasions. This is a beautiful Japanese inspired restaurant decorated with the most beautiful cherry blossom detail and twinkle lighting. It's a full mood! In the absolute best way. It's located on the rooftop of JW Bonnet Creek hotel. They have an incredible rooftop patio that overlooks both Epcot and Disney Springs so there's a full view of the fireworks and drone show. We ended up ordering a little post dinner grub - we have been dying to try it and I will say it did not disappoint. The sushi roll (oki) was so flavorful and tasted super fresh. The boa buns were perfectly soft, steak was ultra tender with light pickled veggies tying it all together. The dessert bar had mini portions which were just right. from patisseries, mini eclairs, cheesecake dishes, strawberry rolls, lemon chiffon cake etc. The service was great even if it was self served they had asked if we needed anything as far as drinks. Also they kept replenishing the dessert bar. Also if you go to the rooftop patio that connects with the lounge they have outdoor seating and you can see the greenery and the disney springs park from a distance. This is really a bar, with bar little tables, not suitable for a sit-down dinner. Main attraction is the view but there is no outside service nor heaters (temp 63 degrees in a wonderful night). Drinks (Illumenare; their version of passion fruit margarita) were mediocre done with low quality concentrates. Their ribs are OK but at an exorbitant price. Same their salad. We left after two appetizers and two drinks and ate dinner elsewhere; not even waited for the fireworks. It's sad because the actual Server and Hostess were great.
