Fantastic Korean food in a cozy atmosphere. Please don't be scared off by the rough area this place is in or the worn exterior of the building, one you get inside it's a whole different experience. I went here for a friend's birthday party and we were able to get a small private room in the back for 8 people. I was surprised how busy it was on a Sunday night but that's a testament to the quality of the food and friendliness of service. I've spent several weeks in Korea so have high expectations for Korean food and this lived up to it. Korean fried chicken is no joke - the best fried chicken I've had was in Korea but the fried chicken we split here was also fantastic and far better than most places in the US, even in the Deep South. I was surprised that a plain scallion pancake/pajeon wasn't an option on the menu (it was listed with jalapeños) but they were willing to make it without jalapeños so it basically wound up being pajeon and that was also quite good. I ordered a hot stone vegetable bibimbap and it was just as good as in Korea although I personally prefer when the bottom of the rice gets nice and crispy from the stone bowl. That didn't happen but it was still excellent. We shared the corn/cheese appetizer too and that was a bit of a head-scratcher but otherwise it was an excellent meal and experience. Listen!!! I'm here atleast twice a week for the same meal everytime, kimchi dumpling soup(sometimes I don't get dumplings). Kong Pocha has some of thee best kimchi in Baltimore and that is a fact! Also they are open late night! Now it's not the most upscale place but who cares, the food is Excellent and it's very clean in there. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because the dumplings only come made with pork and the jjampong can't be made with only one type of seafood(it comes with shrimp mussels, scallops and squid but I only would like shrimp). My food is always DELICIOUS when I come and the service is always great!...I almost forgot, they also offer Korea bbq. The cooking stations are located in the front of restaurant as soon you walk in. Although I've never had it, I was craving Korean fried chicken. I ordered the popular omurice dish with the creamy sauce with came with boneless chicken pieces. I had reservations about ordering because I thought the meal was very pricey ($17) but I trusted the reviews and took a chance. Since I used a delivery service my meal took a considerable amount of time to arrive after it had been prepared by the restaurant. As a result the sauce arrived slightly congealed and was cold. The omurice was disappointing and the rice itself did not have much flavor. It may have been better if the sauce was hot and I mixed it together, but since it was cold I tried to eat it separately. Also the flavor of the sauce was too sweet for my preference. The chicken was good but was not very crispy because the condensation from the container and the sauce made the skin soggy. I resorted to just eating the chicken and leaving the majority of the meal untouched. My recommendation is that they package the chicken separately. The price is too high to risk getting a low quality meal if you do the delivery option. read more

I came here because I was hungry, and like everything else in my life, Yelp made me do it (YMMDI?). Kong Pocha, with its dark moody lighting and movie poster walls, makes you feel like you've been transported to a hole-in-the-wall in Koreatown, New York. What a cool find in Station North. With ample parking, might I add. We ordered the curry omu-rice and the spicy boneless chicken entrees to share. The curry rice dish was really good - the rice blanketed by the egg was sweet, chewy and moist. While the curry was thinner than I would hope, it packed a great savory flavor: 5/5 and would order again. Out came the chicken platter, which was HUGE. The fries were crispy and yummy, though I could do without the mayonnaise. The chicken was tender, but reminds me more of Taiwanese chicken (sans basil) than Korean fried chicken a la Bonchon. Because we went with the "spicy" flavor, it was coated in a polynesian-esque spicy sauce (similar to general tso's chicken), and not spiced in the breading, which was a huge disappointment. It was good still, just neither what I was expecting nor prefer. I would only order the original chicken next time: 3.5/5. Overall, a great spot for Korean eats in a city that doesn't have too many. GET THE FRIED CHICKEN! Kong Pocha's fried chicken = delish, delightful, and damningly good. They are crunchy on the exterior, juicy and tender on the interior, and they melt in your mouth. This dish also comes with flavorful golden-brown French fries that are crispy but fluffy/light and a side salad with a sweet dressing that balances the saltiness of the chicken and fries. Best of all, the generous portion size is belly bulge-worthy and lets you eat to your heart's content! I took a star off because of its cheese teokbokki. I was beyond excited to try this dish because I adore the concept of mozzarella cheese with spicy rice cakes, but the teokbokki's toughness immediately gave it away that the teokbokki has been frozen before. Kong pocha is by far the best place in the city for korean fried chicken! Super crispy, with that signature hard crisp to it that korean fried chicken is known for. I'd avoid the tteokbokki casserole dish they have which I found to be far too pricey for how little there was inside and how soupy it came out. Great food and great service! Me and seven friends went here for my birthday and had a lot of fun. We were able to rent the room for an hour for $45 total and the food was a great value as well. It took a few minutes to figure out how to use the karaoke machine, but once we did we were off to the races! I pulled out "All The Things She Said", my sibling did "Centerfold", and we did many more, with "All Star" as our final song of the night. With Ubers other fees and a tip for delivery, it ended up not being that much cheaper than the menu price, but it was nice not having to go out. I ordered bone in, but actually, more than half the pieces had no bone and were disappointingly quite dry. Even worse, all the pieces on the bottom had soft, soggy bottoms like the one in my second picture. From the pictures here, I thought it'd come with fries and some salad, but there was only the chicken. Probably the in person experience would've been much better. I am still interested in trying their omurice or japchae, but the chicken I received really didn't taste like anything special, and makes me not want to ever give this place another shot. Hands down the best Korean fried chicken and best fries I've had in Baltimore! The fries were golden brown, seasoned perfectly, had the PERFECT crisp on the outside and were nice and soft on the inside. I normally dislike fries because they're sometimes limp and flavorless, but these fries I could eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The Korean fried chicken was also fantastically done-- I thought BonChon was good, but this stuff is on a different level! The flavor is the perfect balance of savory, sweet, spice, and tang; the outside still manages to hold some crisp/crunch even with the sauce covering it on the outside; and the inside still manages to be nice and moist! The price of this dish scared me because it was in the $20's whereas other menu items were in the $10's, but TRUST if you are to order anything off their menu, definitely order the boneless fried chicken with fries (the bone-in fried chicken does not come with fries). It's enough to share between 2 people, but probably not enough for 2 people if you're really hungry/ looking to be stuffed. The beef dish I got wasn't that great because it was really greasy and lacked the punch in flavor that the fried chicken had. It was hard to eat my dish after having a taste at their amazing fries and fried chicken. This place is kind of in a sketchy area (there's a pretty spacious parking lot pretty close to the restaurant though), and it was kind of empty when we walked in at about 6pm on a weekday, but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and how the restaurant started filling up around 7pm (mostly students). They only had 1 waitress serving the whole restaurant, so service did start to slow down as more customers trickled in. The 4 stars is just because of the lackluster beef dish and that they only have 1 server. The boneless fried chicken and fries is without a doubt 5 stars. read more

I'm in love with Kong Pocha. We picked up takeout a few weeks ago and then quickly returned for a meal in person this past weekend with a couple of friends. The food is GREAT. So far, I've tried fried dumplings/goon mandu (yum), kimchi pancake/kimchi-jeon (not my favorite, a little gooey, battery inside), cheese tteokbokki (yum, soooo spicy), bulgogi cup-bap (yum), and curry omu-rice (I LOVE THIS DISH). I've had the curry omu-rice twice in a row, because I love it. The omelet is perfectly cooked, the rice is tasty, the curry sauce is delicious, and the fried chicken is amazing. It's just become one of my favorite, most craveable dishes in the city. I'll be back just for this curry omu-rice. Over and over again. Takeout was easy, but eating in was just as nice. The restaurant isn't much to look at from the outside, but the inside has a lot of retro/divey charm and great vibes. The service was great as well. There's a parking lot next to the restaurant, so you don't have to worry about street parking. Overall, I've had two great experiences at Kong Pocha. I'll be back - no question. read more

Living in Baltimore for a month now, I've come to realize it's hard to find good asian food here! I only got one dish so I can't adequately judge the food but I will say I enjoyed my cream omu rice (even though it's Japanese). Comes with Korean fried chicken on the side which was crispy and delicious without being too oily. They provide a nice selection of side dishes as well. It wasn't the best asian food I've ever had but it did satisfy my cravings. The room is narrow with tables against the walls and empty in the middle. Decorated with twinkle lights and a few photos on the walls, it almost feels half finished. Service was pretty attentive and prompt. Bathroom had no TP or paper towels in it. Area in general feels a bit desolate with not much lighting and I didn't feel totally comfortably walking around by myself at night. read more

This place was so fun!!! Made me think I was drinking in Korea for a second. My friend and I were craving some Korean food and soju so we came here on a Saturday night before they got super busy. We ordered the spicy chicken with cheese (DELICIOUS, but SPICY), corn cheese (always a must), and bibimbap. The banchan came out so nicely, but I wish our server was a bit more attentive with refilling the banchan dish. I would recommend this place to any of my friends, because it really was so much fun to relax and enjoy a drink with a friend.
