About three weeks ago, a friend told me the Philly Cheesesteak Egg Rolls here were really good, so we decided to check it out on a Saturday night around 2 a.m. Unfortunately, they were already starting to close. First off, the spot is tucked away at the corner of Piedmont and Monroe, right near a bunch of bars and a Chase Bank. I honestly had no idea there was a Chinese restaurant there. Now, on to the food. The Philly Cheesesteak Egg Rolls were actually really good--nice flavor and surprisingly large. That's what stood out the most. I haven't seen egg rolls that size in years. It reminded me of how they used to be, unlike the smaller ones you typically get at places like Tin Drum or other modern Asian spots. The Wonton Soup was solid--came with two large wontons in a clear broth with scallions. Simple and satisfying. I mainly came for the Lo Mein, and it was exactly what I expected--classic, flavorful, and comforting. I also tried the "3 Brothers" appetizer but probably won't order that again. It felt like one of those packaged combo deals and didn't quite hit the mark. The pork dumplings in that set were fried, not steamed, which wasn't my preference. For a late-night food run, I'd give this place a solid 4 out of 5. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area and craving something warm and filling after hours. read more

I decided to try Kong's because they had a discount on doordash that I simply couldn't turn down. Little did I know I was going to get my money's worth and this is not a good thing. I ordered beef/vegetables along with beef fried rice given the dish was on sale. I also ordered hot and sour as my soup. I was also given an egg roll to go along with it but dont recall being given an option for spring rolls, as I prefer. The food quite literally tasted like a bland version of food you can find at Panda Express. I do enjoy my Panda Express so this should of been as good if not superior, to panda. The beef fried rice tasted just like the fried rice you can get at panda and the egg roll in appearance, taste and texture might as well of come from there but tasted old, leathery and just bland. The hot and sour soup was again bland and the first few tastes was very strange even somewhat disgusting, is this establishment going for a more authentic taste or trying to go americanized? From this meal it appears both directions which you simply cannot do. The beef and vegetables were ok, equal portions of each and again tasted like the panda express beef and broccoli dish though blander. Over all, I wont be ordering this dish again, though I might give them another try in the future for their chicken dishes and see if they can redeem themselves. Ordered on DoorDash at 11pm got the orange peel chicken combo with white rice and wonton soup and a friend got the hot braised 10 piece wings and fried rice. The food was bland like all the reviews say about it. My friend says the hot braised are not really spicy at all. The wonton soup was greasy and tasted like old oily water this is my first time trying it and they only gave me one dumpling with it. They also gave ONE random egg roll with the order for two I don't know if that's them trying to get rid of extras or trying to promote it. My go-to for Chinese takeout when I'm working in the area. They have a good mix of American and authentic Chinese options. I've ordered a half dozen times in the last 3 months and I've enjoyed nearly every option. Do stay away from their wonton soup and spare ribs towards the end of the night. The ribs get tough and the broth is usually brown. The brown color means it's burnt. Wonton broth is a chicken stock base and you should know what color chicken stock is. Slow service weather it's food delivery or picking up. The cashier was on her phone and talking while people were waiting, when asked about an order she gets rude and starts giving attitude. She lies about being short staffed. You can clearly see a full kitchen in the background but uses that as an excuse for her lack of work. Also if you give her attitude back, she will take longer on your order on purpose. Management, if this restaurant has one.. do better, hire better people. read more

So I am not a super big fan of Chinese food down here in GA (I'm from up north) so I am pretty critical on it when I do try. I was not upset at it though. It was pretty darn good actually. I'm not a fan of them not being open until 5:00 p.m., BUT I am a fan of them being open at 3:00 in the morning. Because sometimes you really need to have something in your stomach after you've been drinking lol! That in itself would make me go back because I know it'll be open late but I need them to! I got the general tso chicken and the cheese steak egg roll and spring roll. With egg drop soup. I am so disappointed. I'm not sure who the chef is or if this restaurant is genuinely Asian owned. The beef broccoli looked so good!! And I got the large but....Beef and broccoli is NOT supposed to taste like that. The spring rolls? Crunchy but no taste. The dumplings I got? No taste. The rice? I don't say this lightly but this is the worst Chinese food I ever had I ordered boneless spare ribs one of my favorite dishes and it was lacking in any flavor at all I ordered lo mein and after one bite I completely avoided it tasted absolutely disgusting. I ordered general tsos chicken it tasted absolutely nothing like general tsos but at least it was somewhat edible. The only thing that wasn't gross was the sweet and sour chicken but that's hard to mess up but they did add a bunch of veggies to where it over powered with bell pepper flavor. I had no idea this place existed until tonight and I am so happy I found it. They have Steak & Cheese Egg Rolls which are my absolute favorite. I ordered the S&E Egg Rolls and a side of Pork Fried Rice. I ordered through Yelp as I was leaving the movie theatre. The process was very smooth and the cashier was very nice. The food was very good. You can definitely taste that this restaurant is about quality. The egg rolls were meaty and very flavorful, and the rice was good as well. I will def be back here again. P. Open till 3 AM - yes please! I was craving Chinese food late at night last week (I seem to always crave Chinese food when the weather starts to get cold for some reason..), but most of the Chinese food places around me were closed and I was about to resign myself to ordering some nuggets until I luckily stumbled upon Kong's Kitchen on UberEats. They were also ordering a BOGO on selected appetizers, so I ordered the eggrolls and the crispy chicken combo (with fried rice). Considering how late it was when I ordered, the food came very fast and was packaged very nicely. The combo came with your choice of soup (I got wonton) and an egg roll. I ended up having way too many egg rolls as the result of BOGO, but luckily they reheat very well in the air fryer! The egg rolls you get with the combo are different from the egg rolls as an appetizer though - the appetizer ones are a bit smaller and the wrapper they use are different (both were delicious though). The crispy chicken combo was delish, but my favorite was the fried rice - it did cost a little more than just getting plain rice, but I think it was worth it. I would definitely order here again just for the fried rice alone. Prices were pretty reasonable as well considering how much food I got - the portions were enough for dinner and lunch the next day (and the food reheated nicely in the microwave as well). read more

After a long nap from my travels I used Door Dash to get my Chinese Christmas dinner. Not much left open so I had to try a new place. They packaged everything for delivery very well, especially the soup. The best part of the order was the pork fried dumplings. They were crispy and tasty. I had the egg drop soup, very rich and really good crisp noodles to top it with. The chicken fried rice had a good taste but I didn't like the sprouts that were added. The food was very OK nothing over-the-top nothing was extremely bad about it. It was just for mediocre and the service was a little bit slow because it seems to be a little bit popular. That's where the pleasantry ends for me. I ordered Kung Pao Chicken, Vegetable Lo Mein, and Spring Rolls. Dishes and sauces were so extremely bland, completely lacking flavor, and the chicken didn't even smell or taste like chicken. I tried to season it up at home, but that odor and flavor was overpowering, I ended up tossing both entrees. I'm disappointed that I spent the money. I do not recommend the food here. If you are vegetarian, I would not get too excited about the vegetarian meat. That meat was like just pieces of some random product (hopefully soy based) and there is no way it resembled or tasted anything like chicken. The food was also kind of greasy, and not in a flavorful way. In terms of quantity, there is a lot. My shrimp lo mein came with a lot of good quality shrimp and veggies - it was just so salty that I couldn't even finish half of it. So I places my order online it came up to about $13 when I get there its $15 so I show her the online receipt and she says our prices went up due to covid. FINALLY a good Chinese food place between Midtown & Buckhead. I'm giving this 5 stars, not because it's on par with the Optimist and the like, but because it's 5 stars in its category. We ordered two dinner combos, which includes your entree, ANY fried rice you want (plain, chicken, shrimp, etc.) at no extra cost, soup, and an egg roll. SO MUCH FOOD for a very reasonable price. A problem I have with other places is 1. The meat isn't always cooked through and 2. They skimp on the veggies for cost sake. I didn't experience either of these! We ordered sweet and sour chicken and kung pao chicken and they were full of veggies! Especially the kung pao, which made me very happy, bc most places have a horrible kung pao. The shrimp fried rice was PERFECT. Full of bean sprouts and fresh shrimp. The last placed I ordered from just put soy sauce on rice. Eye roll. The person who took my order was very friendly and explained that we could order whatever fried rice we wanted. Need to know if you should order from Kong's? If you're drunk, starving, and everything else is closed, then yes. I had the sesame chicken with fried rice, spring rolls, and hot & sour soup. The fried rice had bean sprouts in it :-/ Everything tasted just a bit strange. I ate some that evening and doctored up the leftovers the next day.
