Do not go here--especially if you have a disability or rely on a service dog. I had an awful experience, and it sent my stress and anxiety levels through the roof. The manager clearly disliked animals and completely ignored the law regarding service dogs. When I arrived with my service dog, he demanded to see a "certificate." I explained that legitimate service dogs don't have or need certificates--federal law only allows businesses to ask what tasks the dog performs. He then said my dog "doesn't look like a service dog," and when I tried to clarify, he began yelling and claiming he was a "specialist" who trains service dogs. Not only was that false and unprofessional--it's illegal to impersonate a professional in that field. It was one of the most hostile, humiliating experiences I've ever had in hospitality. One of my roommates mentioned how she used to work here and how her and her bf were gonna have dinner here, so my other roomie and I tagged along. Great music too! I tried the tuna crips for appetizers and it was good, very unique profile of flavors, you get some sweet with a bit of a punch from ginger and still the savory taste of soy sauce. For a drink I got one of their sakes, it was very strong, but also tasty. I ordered the Karage Chicken Curry Don with extra chicken and wow... I was in heaven! The thick, creamy curry was perfectly buttery and salty with that strong classic curry flavor, paired with the crispy chicken Karage it was to die for! I also tried some of my friends pork chashu don and it was soooo good, the pork was perfectly tender and soaked up all the flavors! Service was exceptional! We try to come once a month to enjoy their delicious spicy tonkotsu ramen, spicy gyoza's and chicken karaage. The service is excellent. At least, for us. No matter who you get as your waiter/waitress, they will always treat you with respect and make sure that everything is to our liking without behaving in an exaggerating manner. How busy it gets in the restaurant truly depends on what time of day you are there. I have had my Kontentsu for some time, so today, I had a meeting that ended early and I took the opportunity to visit. I am glad that I did. Here are some of the details: Parking: Parking is easy at the plaza has its own parking area, but in addition the location is next to an open lot which has 100 spaces. Parking is free and extremely convenient. Ambiance: Ambiance is honestly one of things I look for in a good restaurant. Kontentsu, has it. Kontentsu give off a chill café vibe and I was comfortable sitting there sipping on my beer for quite some time. The staff were incredibly hospitable and their attention to me was impeccable. Food: For food I ordered the Salmon Maki, Gyudon, and topped it off with a Kirin Lite. I have been looking a for a solid Gyudon for sometime and I was blown away. The meat was tender and they didn't skimp out on the portion either. This was hands down one of best Gyudon's I have had in quite some time. The Salmon Maki didn't disappoint either! Normally you would get maki and the seaweed is already damp and it falls apart on you. Not here, it had the nice crunch to it. The salmon was fresh and sushi rice was on point. Overall, I have been looking for a solid spot to be a regular at for quite sometime. Although I don't live close enough to be regular, I will have this place highlighted for subsequent visits. Montrose Glendale has a beautiful gem resting right outside of downtown. This is hands down the best ramen I have ever had in my life. The flavor is rich and creamy. Th noodles hand made and truly a work of art. The spicy miso ramen is a beautiful combination with some f creamy broth and spicy chili oil. The cilantro compliments the soups so well. The spicy tonkotsu was a bath it flavores with a rich broth combining traditional flavors with new. I can not say enough good things about these dishes. The service was wonderful and graceful. My husband ordered curry chicken, but the chicken was fried, which I didn't want, but he said it was cooked okay. They also do not serve any dry wine, just Saki, beer, and plum wine, so I ordered iced tea instead. I love Kontentsu for their small ramen shop ambiance, their excellent and welcoming service even in the busiest of nights, and their delicious quality of ramen. Their spicy kimchi is a unique ramen I've never tried elsewhere and I can't get myself to try other options because I'm still addicted to the tangy, spicy richness of this broth.
