Last night was my first time at Kooky Canuck. We were seated as soon as we walked in and it seemed like our waitress Sonia was already there waiting. She execellent and was a blast. She checked on us continuously and we were never in need of anything. The food was amazing as well as the interesting assortment of animal heads displayed on the walls. I had a fabulous time. Today was the worst visit that I've ever experienced here. The service was slow, and exhausting. Waited 20 minutes before the waitress even brought our drink order. Salad was made up of old lettuce and vegetables. Place was not even busy at all. read more

Spent all night kickin it on Beale street, walked back to our hotel only to stumble across this gem. This place has THE most amazing Peach Cobbler! Any Cobbler lover knows the peaches need to be soft with just a little tiny bit of a bite and it needs to be bathing in crust. Let me tell you...these peaches tasted fresh and NOT syrupy. The Cobbler crust was plentiful! Every bite offered a plethora of perfect crust to peach ratio. I wish I would've made time to order some to go before our flight. We had a large group on a big football night. We were seated right away, and our server Ne Ne was there to get our drink orders. Food was very good for bar food. Most of the food we had was wonderful. Poutine and BBQ Egg Rolls appetizers were great. The hamburger was excellent, as expected. The deep fried cornish hen was also surprisingly good. However, the maple sirloin was terrible. Perhaps $9.99 is too little to pay for a good steak, but this was awful. Dessert was wonderful. I can't believe that I've lived in Memphis for almost 3 years and hadn't eaten here until last night. I've walked by a million times and sort of thought, "ah, a Canadian-themed restaurant in Memphis...cute." I wish I hadn't waited so long to turn my nose back down and give it a shot. As far as a standard, workaday cheeseburger - there's none better in Memphis at the moment. The meat itself was sublime. My fiancee didn't finish hers and I ended up just eating some of the meat plain - there aren't a whole lot of burger places where I'd do that. We both had the Four Cheese burger, which had - as can be assumed - a big pile of delicious cheese that dripped all over the place, and with the holy trinity of burger toppings - onions, mustard, and pickles - stacked on top, I couldn't get enough. The fries were of the skin-on medium-thickness variety, and the only thing that could have made them better would have been a dash of malt vinegar. We also had the make-your-own S'mores dessert, which was tasty, fun, perfect for two, and on fire. Service was fast and pleasant, despite just about every table in the place being filled. Our server wasn't lying when he said that the place was about "big fun" - everyone was very laid-back and it was generally just a good time. Some poor sap a few tables away tried to take on the 4lb. monster burger as we were leaving and the staff made a big production out of it, just like they did when someone ordered an 18-scoop birthday dessert/small mountain earlier in the evening, which was fun. No. No. Just no. 45 minutes and no app? Then the app and the food are ready at the same time but it's still 15 minutes for the entree, that then comes out cold? No. NO. For the record, the place was only half full, there was no excuse other than horrible service. I had to request my ranch THREE times, then I asked for lids for them twice and left without any ranch. I have been searching for good, reasonably priced prime rib since I moved here a little over a year ago. When my brother decided to host is birthday dinner at this place, I couldn't roll my eyes far or fast enough. I was incredulous about the prime rib on the menu, but I'm so glad I ordered it. This is not the kind of place I want to spend time in, but our server Mike was great considering the chaos of our group, and the prime rib was worth the parking drama. WARNING---The only thing I warn you is if you go there to eat after 10 pm there is a 18% gratuity added to your bill which says it on the menu. This place has the best fried pickles if love them as I do! The "adult beverages" are huge.... like 32 oz. rum drink for only 9 bucks and awesome burgers too. Visited on a weekday afternoon when it wasn't too busy. Davin was my server and he did an awesome job. Very personable and quite knowledgeable on the beer selection. It was a hunk of flavorless ground meat which was dried darn near to jerky on pita topped with tomatoes and onions with a sweet paste on the side that was of no compliment. Probably the worst meal I've had in ages. The server asked me if I wanted it to go and I declined citing my reasons. She offered to replace it, I declined as by this point we were ready to go. Visited KC in downtown for the first time. Pros: - Menu: Lots to choose from and not overwhelming. - Service: Our waitress, Amber, was outstanding. We had a few issues and it got resolved in a timely manner. Not sure how she remembered everything, but I was expecting her to forget to resolve at least one issue, but she was on top of it. - Food: Everyone from my party had something different so I cannot speak for them other then that anyone I asked about their food they were not disappointed. I ordered 16 wings w/ fries. For some reason I only got 15, but our waitress added the extra one that was missing. The others had burgers which they enjoyed. Four people from our party divided the 4lb burger. They called ahead, but I think there was a misunderstanding with both Kooky and the person who called it in asking for the burger to be cooked medium. The burger was pretty raw from inside; however, it only took them minutes to remedy it. We also had fried pickles (outstanding). Interior: Really clean and nice. Cons: - Wings were a bit on the dry side, but not a biggie - Fries were decent, not great. What can I say, it's hard to beat McDonald's fries I would definitely visit again; however, I would recommend not visit the location in Cordova. The reviews pretty much says it all and apparently the service has not been remedied. read more

Great prices on everything from apps to food to beer. (Especially beer!) we started with a sampler- loved the chicken tenders and fried pickles- the pickles were thick cut and had great sauce. Fried green tomatoes were ok nothing special. I got the maple filet with mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese. Filet was more like fajita meet although had good flavor since the texture was odd... Mashed potatoes did not remind me of blue cheese but were decent. Mac tasted like velveeta cheese... What pushed this to 4 stars was the deep friend brownie. WOW!!!!
