Always drive by this place on my way home and have been curious. Finally went in tonight for dinner. We were a little hesitant at first, since there were no customers. But we were pleasantly surprised by how good the food is. We got the basil chicken, eggplant with beef, and pad Thai with prawns. Everyone knows that little hole in the walls are usually good, so I took my mom here after reading the reviews. Area is meh, very traffic-heavg but parking was easy. The couple managing it were very cute and elderly. They don't come around often so that's both good (not annoying you as you eat) but sometimes it wasn't great because we would need something and you'd have to call them from over the tables. The tables/ambiance is really endearing and they try to make it as upscale as possible. The food: your standard Thai fare - everything was good but it was as if the flavor dial had been turned down one level. Flavorful, yes, but almost mildly so? What a great thai restaurant in my opinion. It's seemingly run solely by a nice couple that kind of meander about cleaning and doing chores until you're obviously ready to order lol but I was the only person eating so its not like they were ignoring anyone. It's new years day and all the Vietnamese places I tried were closed, so I was happy to find somewhere. I got red curry 2 star. It was the perfect amount spiciness. The server gave me water and left the whole pitcher on the table, which I did love. I brought a water tester with me, just something fun I like to do. I am glad it was a delightful find offering a solid selection of Thai favorites. Started off with the Tom Yum soup. It's everything you'd want in this classic dish--tangy, spicy, and full of depth. The broth is rich and aromatic, with just the right balance of lemongrass and lime, creating a refreshing yet comforting experience. The generous portion of chicken was cooked to perfection, making each spoonful a burst of flavor. It tasted a little too sweet for my liking else the spice level was perfect (4/5) Another standout is the Paenang curry. The creamy, coconut-based sauce has a lovely richness, with a slight sweetness that pairs beautifully with the tender chicken. The complexity of flavors in this dish is truly satisfying and keeps you coming back for more. I wish they had thrown in some vegetables to make the dish visually appealing and provide a textural experience. The Pud Woon Sen noodles is a perfect combination of glass noodles stir-fried with fresh vegetables and fried tofu (substitution). The sauce is light but flavorful, allowing the ingredients to shine. Our Ist time out to try Thai food and I was not disappointed. There were three of us and we each ordered a separate entree; Pad Thai, Vegetables with beef, and Pad Sei Ew. We shared each other's order. They were all good and I found myself liking the Pad Sei Ew order with the level 3 "hot factor" best of all. If you like the "spice hot" taste, start with the 3 level Real plates, forks and drink glasses were set on the table adding to the ambiance. We had spice level 2/5 and it had just the right amount of kick for our American palates. The yellow curry made the rice taste so delicious. The eggplant was cooked just right so that the texture was not mushy. The broccoli in the pad see ew was cooked so it still had some crunch. It was the weakest dish but only because the others were so good. The restaurant looks like it may have been a fast food place in the past but they have remodeled to make it a step above fast food with service almost as fast as fast food. And prices include rice, even with refills. Would definitely recommend. Would be great for families or a regular meal. Atmosphere not that romantic so maybe not a date night place. read more

Back again to confirm that this place is still the best Thai restaurant in the region! I have been coming here for 10+ years and will drive all the way from Puyallup to get my fix (although they just started on DoorDash so now, I can have it delivered!). The thai chiles are authentic so if you usually do 3 starts elsewhere, 1 is probably fine! My go to is the Cashew Chicken, Basil Chicken, Yellow Curry or Phad Thai but honestly I've never had a bad item here. Me and my fam have tried their other foods, their fried rice is average and their pad thai is average but very filling. Go to drink is their Thai tea ofcourse. So we ordered four dinner entrees. Drunken noodle, pad Thai, beef and broccoli and Masaman curry. Out of the four, two of which were decent which is the beef and broccoli and the Masaman curry. Pad Thai looks and tastes as if ketchup was one of the main ingredients. Drunken noodle tasted as of they actually put beer in it, bitter and absolutely does not go with the dish at all! Per usual, drunken noodle aka pad kee mao is sweet and savory. Not here! Bitter and dry! I had to toss it and didn't get a chance to take a pic of any of the foods before it gets eaten by my clan. I should've listened to my daughter who thought this place was eerie when arrived at their empty parking lot. Upon entering, there was no customers at the dinning room. The cashier wasn't the most talkative, but it was a quick exchange. With a small tip, I paid $20...maybe a tad high for one take-out entree. We were ordering and going to Gor Gai in Auburn which is about $4 more a dish. Honestly, Koong Thong is not only cheaper, the food is better. Pad thai was on the tangy side, you can tell it was made with ketchup because of how how orangey/red their noodle was and mine came overly sauced because there was so much liquid in the takeout container.
