Yellow Curry Fried Rice, Golden Cashew & Thai Ice Tea
    Tia P.

I got the yellow curry fried rice, golden cashew with tofu and a Thai tea. Both dishes had a level 3/5 spice and were perfectly spicy! Thai tea was delicious as well, not too strong and the perfect ratio. Service was great and decor was cute as well.

It's been many yrs since I've ordered from this place & now I remember why! I know times are rough but geez, their food portions are ridiculous small! I mean, they could've add more veggies into their angel eggplant. The flavor was good but for this portion, it's not worth $15-$16! It didn't even fill up in my small bowl. Pad Thai was decent but tofu was bad, had a weird taste & it was hard. Curry fried rice & curry was good. Overall, definitely not worth $80.

    Phad Thai with prawns

We always go to the same Thai place, and wanted to try somewhere new. I wanted to see if we can add another place to our list of Thai places to dine at or order take-out; I've tried all the other Thai restaurants around the area, and I am not a fan of any of them, except for just one. Well, it looks like we are able to add one more to our list. My boyfriend and I thought the food was pretty good. Actually, he couldn't stop talking about how good his food was. He ordered the Phad Thai with prawns, and being the pig that I am, I ordered the Phad Thai with beef and the Chili Paste Fried Rice with calamari, both for myself. He thought the Phad Thai had more flavor than the Phad Thai that we always order from our favorite Thai restaurant. Indeed, the Phad Thai was very flavorful, and so was the Chili Paste Fried Rice. I ordered mine with 5 stars, and I could at least taste some kind of spice, where at most other places, I don't really taste any spiciness with their 5 stars. The only complaints I have is that either the Phad Thai doesn't come with bean sprouts or they forgot to add them, but Phad Thai just isn't the same without bean sprouts. That's one of the reasons I like Phad Thai. And mine was a little bit salty; I'm not sure if it was because of the beef. But squeezing lime over it helped, but I had to use the lime slice from my boyfriend's Phad Thai; mine didn't come with one. And for the Chili Paste Fried Rice, I thought it was kind of mushy, and the calamari was so thinly sliced that I couldn't enjoy much of the chewy texture of calamari that I love so much. Overall, everything had a lot of flavor, and we will definitely come back for more.

The service was great as well, the people running the stand were so nice and talking to so many people all the time. If this is how they are at a stand, I will be visiting the restaurant in the near future!

Theary Cambodian Foods is a tiny restaurant with only seating for only 12 or 13. They have probably…read moreone of the most chaotic and confusing menus I've ever seen, but they serve some really excellent food. Walking in for a Saturday lunch into this establishment, the entire restaurant smelled like sizzling meat and aromatic herbs. This was a little past noon and most of the staff were in the back taking their lunch break. There was only a single guy in front managing everything. We placed our order at the counter and were given an estimate of 20 minutes for the food. It took exactly 20 minutes, and he even gave us a 2 minute warning when it was almost ready. #4 Combo ($28.99) - This is a huge portion, easily enough for two people. In fact, this was the only thing we ordered (they had run out of the other item we wanted) and we finished only around 75% of the meal. The plate includes an entire mound of rice under all the meat. The photos of this dish are deceptive - the meat on top hides what's underneath. It's actually an appropriate amount given all the protein, a far cry from other places that only give a small bowl of rice. The rice is fried until dry and leathery, sticking together into larger chewy structures. It's actually an excellent texture for this dish. And the flavor is phenomenal, giving the fragrance of herbs, ginger, garlic, and other spices. In terms of meat, the dish includes two Kroeung meatball that taste of lemongrass and aromatic herbs. There's crunchy garlic stuck to the outside and everything is pan fried until a crust develops from the great sear and char. The inside is so meaty, with lots of whole pieces of meat rather than ground. It gives a burst of fragrant umami. There's a chicken wing, stuffed with vermicelli and shredded chicken meat. Again, it has a very fragrant and lemongrassy flavor. The chicken skin pulled along the stuffing gives an extra oomph of texture. Finally, there's an entire chicken leg/thigh quarter. It's so good, one of the best chicken quarters I've ever eaten. I especially love the scoring on the skin of the thigh that allows the pan sear to really develop an extra crusty layer from the additional surface area. The chicken meat interior is so tender and juicy and gives such an amazing coconut enhanced flavor, full of umami. The chicken fat and skin gives that crispy fattiness that enhances the chicken to the max. Now that's how to cook chicken! On the side are some spicy and crunchy daikon pickles mixed with some mint. Also, a fragrant and really spicy minced pepper mixture that gives an instant fresh burn. It's not smoky at all. (5/5) Everything Theary Cambodian Foods serves is a flavor bomb right to the gullet. Delicious, delicious, delicious food. Too bad it's so far away from me, otherwise I'd be a regular.

We ordered the Tonkotsu Miso Ramen, Spicy Negi Ramen (level 4 hot), an order of Gyoza, and an appetizer order of Karaage Chicken. Both of our Ramen bowls were absolutely delicious!! I'm used to eating very authentic Ramen when I lived in San Diego so this was a first for being in this area. It was a great portion size, beautiful presentation and everything tasted so good. I think the egg could've been cooked a little bit less so it would be not so well done so to speak, but it was delicious still. Also, the chicken appetizer was a good, but not as flavorful as some Karaage Chicken I have had. I probably wouldn't order that one again even though it was good, just lacked flavor and was a bit grisly. The service was outstanding. They are very kind and very attentive. The place is very clean. The bathrooms are nicely stocked and very clean as well. The lobby is beautiful and we will definitely be back!

The ramen tasted great but not impressive or memorable enough for me to drive all the way back to Federal Way. I dined in solo and actually didn't finish the ramen or even remember exactly what I ordered. I'm guessing it's the spicy negi. The broth was spicy and enjoyable but definitely didn't taste any different compared to other ramen places I've been to. I tend to eat slow to savor my food, but I felt like the staff was overattentive and frequently stopped by my table to ask if everything was okay. Gave me the vibe that they needed to keep themselves busy or I was taking up a table. Might be great for other customers but it affected my experience with dining in; I usually finish my meals at restaurants but I felt rushed so I just ended up bringing the ramen home for my son, after the second or third time of them asking me if I wanted a takeout box. I'm still giving 4 stars just because the ramen tasted better than mediocre, less than spectacular. I just have high expectations for ramen and prefer more broth/topping variety (I was raised in Cali with options i dearly miss). Plus, I do like that they added a full egg for the ramen (instead of half an egg, like other restaurants I've been to) and the chasu portions were fair. I haven't tried any other ramen places in Federal Way (if there are any), but I guess if this is one of the better options (according to Yelp), it might be worth a shot to try out?
