Maybe I'm a little biased because I'm from California, home of the Pinkberry phenomenon, but I didn't really agree with the opinions of the people here in the Midwest saying that it's the "greatest thing ever." The frozen custard is soooo rich and creamy, you can literally taste all the eggs that go into it. It wasn't bad, it's just that maybe two scoops was too much for a beginner like myself. Also, the fact that it was a cheesecake flavor, didn't lessen the richness of the custard. The prices are decent and the fact that you can take home a pint or a quart or even a HALF A GALLON is more than enough reason for me to visit again. read more

I just not getting why this place is always busy. We stopped here around 7yrs. ago and wasn't impressed. My sister wanted to stop this time so I decided to give it another try. It will be my last. The food is a little high in price but you get plenty of tasteless food. Not sure why my sister likes this place. I wanted to explain to them that cooking onions in butter is not fried onions. Sitting area is just that. Only maybe 8 tables and 16 wooden planks to sit on. Not sure how this place is so popular, must be some really special custard, cuz it not the food. read more

This is based only on the custard side of the restaurant. This is tied with the best custard I have had with not licked yet out of fish creek, door county. So if this is the best custard why are you only giving it four stars. Glad you asked. First off I felt like it was a little over priced and the service was not as fast as expected. More on the service aspect of it. Kopps had 4 people ready to take orders and only one person making the tasty treats. They could have easily taken one person off of register and had them help make orders. Yes it was big enough for two people to work side by side. Now I am from the Naperville Illinois area and if we were to do something similar to this we would have an unruly crowd turning into a yuppie mob. So wether you wanted my two cents or not you got it. All I can say is WOW. This place has amazing choices. Everyone in our group got something different and no one was dissatisfied. The prices were very reasonable. The lines for ordering were little confusing/annoying. We got in one line to only find out that since we were only ordering ice cream we were suppose to be in a different line. Beat the system by ordering 1 item that was not ice cream. Did not make a lot of sense . Still thought everything else was worth the trip read more

The first time i went here and i got a chocolate malt. I thought it was horrible and it did not even taste like a chocolate malt. My family and I went back a couple days later to get a quick bite to eat. The cheeseburgers are really good and really quick if you just want something really quick. I couldn't resist on trying something else on the menu so i got the sundae of the month which was the S'mores Sundae. This sundae was the absolute bomb. I definitely recommend. They like vanilla ice cream with graeme crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate shell. It was so overwhelming but so so so good. Kopp's totally redeemed itself that night. read more

I used to come here as a kid and brought my son to share in what was a great childhood memory. We had lunch and I was very disappointed. Burgers were okay but bun was soaked in grease on the bottom and french fries tasted like cardboard. The most disappointing thing was that my soda had only a few sips in it because it was completed filled with ice. When I asked for a refill, I was told I had to pay for an entirely new soda. Fountain soda costs pennies and is where the profit margin is! It is very disappointing to see a company's greed taken to this level. I will never go back! I am a native Wisconsinite and lifetime customer of Kopp's. Today, part of our online order consisted of a quart of Butter Pecan custard which is one of my family's favorites. When we opened the container there were no pecans in the custard, so I called to speak with a manager to have this pricey item removed and refunded to our credit card. Manager wanted to bring the now melting custard back to show him because this was impossible. Very rude especially when I told him that we live out of town and made a special trip in. Tried contacting corporate offices but one number was disconnected and the other number disconnected you saying no one was available. This USED to be the best custard around. Very disappointed with what once was an icon. I will not be treated like a criminal because I paid for something that they refused to deliver. I will be pursuing this with the BBB and credit card company to get this rectified. read more

Limited custard selection but simply the best - creamiest - in all of Wisconsin (which means in the world, by extension). Burgers & stuff are good flat-top fare; worth the trip for the burgers, but let's face it, the custard is THE REASON to be here. You will not regret. Seriously cannot figure out the draw if this place. The custard is terrible. The menu is beyond confusing. The seating is even worse. There's always a line. Burgers - They are flat, greasy, huge, and delicious. Don't go in expecting a pub burger and you'll be fine. Fries - Typical ice cream stand fries. Tasty, crispy and salty. Custard - Very tasty. The malts are delicious too. My only complaint about Kopp's is the seating. The odd indoor tables are very hard to sit at, and not condusive at all to eating. This is a Milwaukee institution. Frozen custard is not just for summer time in Wisconsin, it is an all year around treat here no matter how cold it gets. They always have chocolate and vanilla on hand, on addition to the flavor of the day that rotates, with searchable choices occasionally. They sell them in quarts, pints, or half gallon containers to go or served to bring consumed right away in scoops. Frozen custard is smooth and creamy and far more satisfying than ice cream. They serve it also on a float with soda and as sundae with other additives. Large butter burgers us another specialty. They also make fries, onion rings, etc naturally great place for a quick bite and please the kids and the whole family. read more

The employees have no idea what they are doing here. I ordered a grilled cheese with cheddar, the cashier said they have cheddar, but I received grilled bread with what looked and tasted like cheese whiz. I took it back to the manager who told me it was cheddar - nope! I also asked for a cup of mayo, and they gave me packets. I asked again for a cup, and instead of using the container of mayo they have for sandwiches, an employee opened the packets of mayo and poured it into a cup. My point is that I don't like mayo from packets - I even offered to pay extra for the cup. I also spoke to the manager about this and I don't think he even understands English. And the fries were way overcooked. I've worked in restaurants for over 20 years, and what I asked for is not very difficult. Who hires these people???? read more

i have tried some of kopps 'special' flavors such as maple syrup&panacakes an been delighted.So when they had 'blue moon' i couldnt wait. What a shame,they ruined it by adding mini marshmallows!! i woudl have never gotten a pint if i knew this before hand.I had to hold back my revulsion as one by one i picked them out of what could have been a great ice cream..never again guys, i will play it safe with 'plain' flavors like strawberry..i will wait for summer and go to northpoint on the lake. read more

Kopp's is the very best! Just visited again last weekend and was amazed at how awesome the burger was. I've had burger's at fancy restaurants that don't even come close to how delicious the Kopp's burger is. I can't believe it is only $3.95. You won't even want any other custard after you've tried Kopp's. Culvers is awful in comparison. All of the flavors are delicious and the sundae's are also incredible. I know Kopps well and I have enjoyed some of their wonderful custard over decades being on and off in WI, and I decided to try the double hamburger and a side of chicken salad sandwhich, which their menu says is "Perfectly Seasoned." I ended up being ill from what I believe was the chicken sandwhich, which I have to say was of awful quality and flattened breast of chicken, overcooked and tasted like garbage also, and I didn't finish it but ended up saving what was left of the sandwhich, in their white bag. which I ended up bringing back because I thought manager would understand and make things right. The young teenagers they hire know little to nothing about customer service and I felt it's just a job to them. The manager basically went into a lecture about how they guys on the grill are trained every step and the onset of effects and time of food poisoning from chicken thinking I would not know anything about what he was conversing to me. I am no dummy and I know I got sick. Basically he wanted me to go to a doctor, (this is not Canada and there are people who travel out of state whose insurance will not work in other states) and have them send him and Kopps documentation that I was made ill from that chicken sandwhich, and dealing with their insurance so they could have it "out of their hands" so to speak. No refund was offered and the apology was not heartfelt, nor was it sincere. He basically took down my name and phone number and that was that. How many customers remember their customer order#?! Huh?! Hell, I should at least been offered a refund for a crappy grilled chicken sandwhich that "Chik-A-filet" can make better anyway, anyday! One of the worst experiences I've had at any establishment...I used to have respect for Kopps and their tradition of a WI hallmark desert and hamburgers...not any more.
