I happened to be staying in Tallahassee for the week for training. I have lived in South Korea twice for a year each time and I miss the food the most. I stopped in to order the Chicken Bulgogi and asked if they could make it spicy. The staff was extremely kind and suggested I take some pepper powder just in case because they didn't want to make it too spicy. This was an excellent suggestion as it let me control how much more I wanted to add. The food was excellent and immediately took me back. Not a high end fancy restaurant but the food was excellent. Ordered the Bibimbap it came with soup and kimchi. Very reasonably priced! Their Napa cabbage kimchi was excellent. It was crunchy and not too spicy. The kimchi that came with the meal was made with regular cabbage and that was just as good. My daughter ordered the Japchea and loved it. Her grandma is Korean she said it tasted like her Omahs very happy to have "homecooked" food. What a great place we found, so glad we checked it out! I have a soft spot for Korean Barbeque & More since my fiancé used to work here when he was in college and he always talks about how kind Mr. Swan, the restaurant owner, was and how he took care of them well. Korean Barbeque & More has all the basic Korean meat dishes you could crave!! Their meat bowls include beef bulgogi, pork bulgogi, or chicken bulgogi. All the meat dishes come with rice, kimchi, and miso soup (free of charge). A nice pro-tip for an even better meal is to add the egg, which is only an extra $1 more-- SIGNIFICANTLY WORTH IT. Based off our group voting (where everyone ordered a different one and tried each), beef bulgogi seems to be a big winner, but pork bulgogi is not too far behind. Some might argue they enjoy the pork bulgogi more because it has a bit more spice to it. We love that everything is made SO FRESH and comes out so hot. It's also so nice to wait for your food because you can smell all the amazing smells, mainly that beef bulgogi, cooking through the air. MAKES ME DROOL. The kimchi is a great level of fermented and sour, just what I like. And the miso soup is so yummy with the tofu and real seaweed. A good amount of seaweed too!! YUM. In addition to the meat bowls, they also have different rice bowls, like Bibimbap, bibimbap with beef, and a sashimi bowl. I haven't tried these yet, but I've heard good things if you enjoy bibimbap!! There is soup and noodle options as well, from japchae with or without beef to kimchi stew and dumpling soup. My absolute favorite is the kimchi stew. SO MUCH TOFU AND KIMCHI IN THE STEW AND IT IS SO GOOD. Also, it is served with rice, miso soup, and kimchi (yes, more kimchi!!) free of charge. YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO EAT THE STEW WITH RICE--there is no other way for this to be consumed haha. There is a hefty amount of soup and could almost serve two people!! The japchae is also yummy with all the toppings a great portions. When we ate here, they were take-out only, but based off our conversation with Mr. Swan, he said they plan to open dine-in at the end of September. I just got done eating and had to alert people of this restaurant. It is amazing. I would go as far as calling it soul healing. I hadn't had the greatest week and their dumpling soup felt so comforting that I immediately started feeling like a warm embrace. This food is made with care and passion. It is flavorful and does not rely on salt to give it flavor. I will always get their soup on rainy days. Korean food is one of my favorites, and this place does it justice! We ordered Japchae with Beef and Beef Bulgogi for takeout, and both came with rice, kimchi, and miso soup. I called to order ahead and by the time we got there the food was done right on time. The miso soup was very nice, the japchae is delicious and the kimchi's some of the best I've ever had! I wish that the bulgogi meat was a bit juicier, but for the price it's a great value. One thing that was an issue was that we found hair in both kimchi containers. Not bad for your best (only?) authentic Korean option in town. Limited menu, but they do a nice bibimbap, and my dad loves the sushi bowl. My Korean-born mom says they do a good job of bulgogi and pork bulgogi. I love love love the hot beef soup (yukejjang) And of course, who doesn't appreciate the complimentary soup (kimchee soup, which is very good, and miso, which is okay), kimchee, barley tea, malted/rice dessert drink, and pasta-salad/coleslaw melange? (Side note for those of you wondering, "why the pasta salad/coleslaw melange?": When us Korean-American kids used to go to Korea in the 70s and 80s, (aka "Before The Seoul Olympics"), our well-meaning relatives would try to offer us some food that might remind us of home. Unable to provide us the authentic burgers, pizza, and Mac n Cheese that we craved, they would do the next best thing: dump some straight-up mayonnaise on a combination of potatoes/pasta/apples/cabbage/lettuce. For most of us, our first reaction probably fell somewhere on the short spectrum of dismay to horror, but we were fed it so often it actually became a sort-of comfort food for many of us. Like I said in my tip almost 4 years ago, this is the KISS rule incarnate for a restaurant. Simple menu with 8 choices. Basic dining area with 5 tables for 4 and a few counter seats. Order at the counter and, while you are waiting, help yourself to soup and kimchi. Drinks provided include barley tea, rice malt drink or water. You can pay extra for a canned soda if you like. I got here right when they opened at 4 and already there were several people ordering. The dining area soon filled and there was a steady stream of takeout customers. I cannot speak to the authenticity of their dishes or compare them to others because this is the first and only Korean restaurant I have visited, but I do know that I love their Korean Beef. It has a spicy, sweet, caramelized flavor that is delicious. The dish comes with a sticky rice and the serving of beef and rice is very generous. The soup and kimchi were enjoyable although the kimchi was not as spicy hot as some I have had. I tried the rice malt beverage this time and it was enjoyable though not as enjoyable as horchata. It was kind of like a slushy with ice crystals that I always enjoy. Don't come here for fine dining, come here for good food and you will not be disappointed. The five stars I gave it is strictly based on the food. The only complaint I have is that everything is disposable styrofoam and plastic. I suspect this has to do with health department regs on dishwashers as there have been other restaurants in Tally that had this same problem because they did not have enough space. read more

Bulgogi. Rice. Kimchi. These are a few of my favorite things. Here at Korean Barbecue, your mouth will be exposed to completely dynamite takes on these dishes. So, you walk in. You seat yourself. A host/waitress/cashier/runner will take your order. The beverage station is self serve and so are the soups and kimchi. I wasn't too impressed with the Sprout Soup, but the Kimchi was killer. Cold, spicy and palate cleansing. The star of the show is the Bulgogi, or Korean Beef. It's served in tin foil with white sticky rice on the side. Prepare those chopsticks and go to town on the beef, because you won't be able to get enough of it. Perfectly cooked, perfectly marinated, and ridiculously flavorful. The host/waitress/cashier/runner I mentioned above was extremely personable and knowledgeable of the menu. We even found out we lived in the same apartment complex. I just wish everything wasn't self serve. Being someone who works in the service industry, sometimes it's nice to have someone else do the work for you. And I don't mind paying the extra few bucks for it. All of the plates, cups and utensils are plastic, while the dishes are served in to-go boxes, too. Food was fantastic, and we enjoyed the experience as a family. I ordered the eel, my wife the pork and the kids split the beef meal. The portions were quite large, very fresh and the food quality was excellent. Dishes that are not soups are served in takeout boxes. Fine by us, as we had a lot to take home. The restaurant is very small and for first timers, like we were, lacking an intuitive process for seating and ordering. You can sit wherever there is an open table. To order, you walk to the back of the restaurant where someone is sitting in a chair waiting for you to order. After you order, you step to the left to help yourself to soup and sides, then to the front of the store for tea, water, malt drink or a canned soda (up-charge for soda). After your meal comes to your table, and before you leave, you walk back to the rear of the restaurant and pay your tab. We can't wait to go back. Now that we know the process, we can go back and focus even more on the food! It was so good! read more

He also owns the Korean grocery store next door. I can always grab some Asian grocery after a delicious meal, score! Menu is limited and so is their hours. I have tried the Korean BBQ pork, sweet potato noodles, beef soup & bibimbap. I have to say bibimbap and the beef soup were average. But the Korean BBQ pork and sweet potato noodles are out of this world. I crave them often. Portion is large so I usually can eat one order for two meals. Not to mention unlimited self service kimchi, soups, and rice drink. That's what I'm talking about! Some complain the ambiance of the restaurant. I agree that it's indeed a hole in the wall. Although it's a self serve place, the worker still came and checked on us throughout our meal. The service is always excellent and the owner is very kind. I get the Sweet Potato Noodles with Vegetables ($8.99) with added beef ($1 extra). This also comes with a side of rice. The beef is marinated just right, and the noodles have so much flavor. I am not a fan of the complimentary soups. The portion sizes are huge and I always have so much left to take home! I wish this place wasn't so far from me! Korean Barbecue always hits the spot. They are now in their new location on Apalachee (in Best Buy strip mall at opposite end of Best Buy), and (as of June 17) and offering take-out only to stay safe during coronavirus. We called ahead to place an order and bought almost everything they have: pork bulgogi with rice, japche noodles (glass made from sweet potato starch) with beef bulgogi (tell them "no rice" and you get more delicious noodles), bibimbap with beef, dumpling soup, and a large order of Kim chi. The soup was outstanding. The homemade dumplings (10 per order) had thin dough bursting with meat. And the broth was flavorful without being salty, and had many discs of Korean rice cake which added an unusual but welcome texture The pork bulgogi was excellent. Just the right balance of sweet and spicy. The japche noodles are served with julienned veggies and meat (you can get them without meat). They are sublime. The bibimbap was packaged beautifully, with veggies, beef and egg arranged artfully. When mixed all together with the sauce, it was fantastic. And the kimchi was the perfect side dish. You can order ahead then head inside to pick it up. Everyone was wearing a mask and the register was being a shield. And if you have any questions, the owners are quick to respond by Facebook messenger I had a number of questions which they happily answered. I love that they are in a bigger space and can't wait to eat there after the pandemic passes. For now, I'll be patronizing then to support their decision to do take out only. read more

This right here... Korean Barbeque and More is the textbook example of a GREAT "hole-in-the-wall" restaurant. The parking lot and strip mall look a bit sketchy, inside has a very simple setup with limited seating, Styrofoam dishes and plastic flatware, and just a handful of menu items which are ALL AMAZING, and make the trip totally worth it! I stop here every time I'm in town on business, and bring my work friends with me. Portions are very generous for the price, and normally I'll order two dishes and have some for the next day. I normally order either the Korean beef or the sweet potato noodles. The sashimi bowl is another favorite. After you order, you can partake in as much of the soup and kimchi as you like. You can also try the barley tea, or, if you want something a bit sweeter, rice malt is available. Bottled drinks are a little extra. Service is also excellent! The place is almost always hopping, so it can be tough to interact with the hostess beyond getting your order. But on our last visit, we got there for dinner pretty early, and she actually had extra time to come check in and chat with us several times while we were eating. The eco-friendly part of me isn't completely thrilled with the throwaway dinnerware, but I get it. Other than that, I find this place is top shelf! read more
