From the get-go, she looked & sounded annoyed that I had even entered the place. Banchan was refreshing but very little, literally dotting the 4 tiny plates, & when I asked if I could have some more: "no!" Seafood broth was tasty but only half the bowl full, & with 2 shrimp, 2 clams, a tiny piece of octopus & a few disappearing slivers of fish: pricey at 20-ish $. Accompanying rice was also in a tiny bowl, not hardly enough for the soup, & would've paid for more, but "no!" Finally she ran after me when I left: I thought I had forgotten some personal item at the table, but she thrust change in my face from the cash paid, saying 'she doesn't need it, I can have it!' Not only is this the best Korean food in the area, it's also the best restaurant food in general - in my opinion. Try their Agedashi tofu appetizer, as well as the Korean classics such as scallion pancake, duk bok ki, and bibimbap. The service is always friendly and fast. I have never had a sub-par meal there. Very glad I checked Yelp before coming - the restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside. Once you step through the door the great service, excellent Korean food and reasonably good sushi. The Dol Sot Bibimbap was excellent and really fresh; the haemul-bokum had lots of seafood and was a large portion. We were all really impressed with how tasty the bulgolgi was. It melted in your mouth! The seafood pancake stuffed full of fish and not heavy or greasy. All this served by friendly people who are happy to advise on the menu items. For my birthday, my wife and I went down to Willamstown/North Adams area for two reasons: I wanted to visit the MassMOCA and I wanted to eat at Korean Gardens because of its reviews. There is one restaurant serving Korean food in the Burlington, Vermont area and it is not that good. The owners and the meals that they craft are great. Complex, delicious flavors well presented. It was clear that the owners take care about the food they serve their customers. My wife is a manager at a restaurant/pub and she noted that the kitchen and front of house. My wife is sometimes timid about what she'll eat, but upon my hesitant recommendation, she did order the bibimbap. She loved it, so that's saying something. I wish their restaurant was in Burlington, Vermont rather than 3 and 1/2 hours away. In desperation, I might be ready to drive all the way back down for another meal there one of these days. We didn't eat anywhere else in town, but I imagine for my tastes, this is the best restaurant in town. I unequivocally recommend this restaurant and it's conscientious owners. read more

This place isn't anything special. Typical and just average 'Korean/Japanese'. They do not use the freshest ingredients and some bits of vegetables tasted like they came out of a can. This little restaurant, in an unassuming building in an unassuming area of an unassuming town, is a terrific find. At 12:30 on a Friday, there was only one other occupied table, so we weren't sure what to expect. What we got, however, was lightning fast service, good food, and sizeable portions at a very good value -- especially for the Berkshires. We ordered two appetizers -- agedashi tofu and vegetable tempura -- plus two hot stone bi bim bap with tofu. (This latter is a super popular dish -- we heard others who arrived after us order it, as well -- and deservedly so.) Within two minutes of ordering, our very friendly and polite waitress brought out four amuse bouche, including marinated daikon and beans, bean sprouts, and flavorful spicy cucumbers. The appetizers were up about five minutes later. The tempura was light and crispy and not too oily, and the portion was large enough that each of us got to try every vegetable (sweet potatoes, green beans, onions, zucchini, eggplants, carrots). The agedashi tofu was also generously sized, with five large triangles of lightly fried tofu in a deliciously sweet-salty broth. I could have easily made a meal out of this. The entrees came up about 10 minutes after the apps, and as the menu promised, were served in piping hot stone bowls that kept the food warm throughout the meal. Though the bowl may looks small from the outside, this is another generous portion, with a mix of zucchini, carrot, bean sprouts, tofu, and fried egg atop perfectly cooked rice -- with the terrific crunchy bits on the bottom. The sauce that comes with it is spicy but not over-the-top, so you can still taste the flavors of each ingredient. This was an exceptionally satisfying meal on a freezing cold day that kept us feeling pleasantly full for the rest of the afternoon. For two entrees and two appetizers, we paid about $48 (including tip). Considering that the portions were large enough that we didn't really need all that food (oh, but we ate it anyway), it's possible to have lunch for two at $25 or less. Don't be put off by the not-so-pretty building or lack of decor; this place is good, authentic food prepared well and served so quickly, you'll wonder how they manage to make it taste so great. read more

We are originally from NY/NJ and it can be really hard to find good Asian food in the Berkshires. The other Asian places we've tried in and around North Adams are bland, too expensive, or just not at all authentic. Korean Garden has really raised the bar and we have become regulars since they opened. While it's still a bit under the radar, more and more people are discovering this little gem. The food is fresh and delicious. We are all big fans of the hot stone tofu bi bim bap. (Love that crispy rice on the bottom!) Other favorites are the scallion pancake, Williams roll, Green Monster roll, and Kangpoonki. The location is a bit off the main drag in North Adams, but the space is welcoming and can accommodate larger parties. The family that owns the restaurant and the waitstaff are all super-nice and helpful. read more

I created this account specifically to review this incredible hidden gem. As someone who used to eat a lot of fish, but cannot anymore due to dietary issues, I have been missing sushi like cray cray! After coming here the first time and getting the bibimbap, which was one of the best I've ever had, I was already hooked. I noticed they had sushi rolls with no fish in them the second time I came and decided I would take a shot at trying them. I ordered the chicken crunch roll, not expecting much after being let down by other fish-less sushi rolls, but I was not expecting to find my new all time favorite food. It's all the right amounts for every ingredient. It balances creamy and crunchy and chewy all at once and the chicken is cooked perfectly every time.
