    Bibimbap lunch special
    Kathleen S.

We enjoyed two lunch specials at Korean Garden after a visit to Mass MOCA. The bibimbap and ramyun in spicy broth were both solid. I especially liked the freshness of the vegetable ingredients in the bibimbap. I also liked the four banchan, including bean sprouts, lettuce kimchi, spicy zucchini, and broccoli. The ramyun noodles were chewy, and the broth had just the right amount of spiciness. The portions were moderate, and the service was, well, serviceable. It appeared that the restaurant is run by a two-person couple team. Things were busy during the lunch hour, so I didn't get a smile out of the staff or any water refilling. But the food was more than adequate. The menu is quite broad with Korean, Japanese, and Thai options.

Stopped here for lunch before heading back to CT on a Sunday afternoon. The service was excellent and the food was as well. We got the pork bulgogi and the hot stone bi bim bap with chicken.

5-star food for the area. I feel like the food got better when they moved out of North Adams. This recent trip i got steamed mandus, tofu teriyaki and beef bulgoki. Everything was phenomenal. The banchan was also quality. Definitely a preferred fav in the area!

2.5. Nothing special. Food doesn't particularly have a lot of flavor which is unfortunate and disappointing. Nice menu selection, everyone can definitely find something they like. Inside is small and janky. Service is abrupt and a little slow. Probably wouldn't come again but there also isn't much else in the area to be honest.

We arrived maybe 45mins before they closed for lunch at 3 (seems they're closed 3 to 4 every day). Nice simple interior and good, fast service. They served everything quickly but it didn't feel like they were rushing us. Still would be nice if the closure time was on Google or Yelp. I thought the food was delicious. I got the Kimchi Bokum which was like pan fried kimchi and pork. Not much pork but I didn't mind much. The bento box was also good and had interesting variety. My mom got the sweet potato noodles which were good but didn't have a super flavorful sauce. Still I thought the food service and everything else was great and the price was reasonable.

Korean Garden - A Hidden Gem in The Shire Korean food has always been one of my go-to cuisines when hunger strikes. But let's be honest--finding a great Korean spot can be tough in some areas. So imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon Korean Garden, a true hidden gem tucked away in The Shire. As usual, I walked in absolutely starving and ready to indulge. We were warmly greeted by a sweet ajumma at the door and seated by the front window. The place was small and cozy, with only a handful of tables--just the kind of spot that usually means home-cooked goodness. I ordered my usual favorites: Galbi, Bulgogi, and Spicy Udon Soup. My Korean came in handy and made ajumma smile when I told her I had lived in Munsan for a few years. She lit up, introduced herself and her husband, and we had a lovely chat. I mentioned I'd be relocating to The Shire soon and that they'd be seeing a lot more of me. The banchan came out first--and wow, we got a generous variety. They even asked if we'd like refills (dangerous question for someone like me). Each one was fresh and flavorful--if I wasn't careful, I could have emptied their fridge. When our mains arrived, everything looked (and tasted) amazing. The portions were big enough that I needed a takeout bag--which means lunch tomorrow is covered too! I'll definitely be back. Warm, soulful food. Kind, welcoming owners. Cozy atmosphere. Just the kind of comfort you need when living near the mountains.

After being in what feels like a food desert for the last couple months, I was so excited to finally have some real food towards the end of my time in the Berkshires. Korean Garden provided that comfort food feel that I really craved. The service was okay, but food came out quick. The food was pretty good, nice and hot, and just the right portion I was looking for. Definitely douse it in sriracha though. Wish I would have discovered this place earlier!

Hands-down, the best Asian restaurant in all Berkshire County. I drive 35 minutes often just to come here. The food is absolutely fantastic.

The Bulgogi was excellent and very tasty. We stopped up here on our way to Mass MOCA because of the good reviews and wanted to see if the food matched the reviews... And it definitely does... Highly recommend for lunch. Great luncheon special.

Tasting everytime before your meal. Everything was delicious and the second time there was something different!

This place is itty bitty with all of maybe 5 tables and boy is catching a seat a steal. The service is amazing and the food follows suite. Authentic Korean always hot and full of flavor. My go to order is the hot stone bi bim bap with pork and receiving it at the table makes me feel like Im in a studio ghibli film. Would definitely suggest for anyone unafraid to try new flavors especially in the small tasting dishes before the meal. Looking forward to trying more dishes!

Vegetarian kimchi ji- gae!!! Very delicious

They were able to make the Kimchi ji-gae vegetarian, which is very hard to find. The flavors were bright and delicious and mild spicy! So excellent! Kind service. Relaxed atmosphere.

Most food was mediocre; the japchae was particularly bad. An item was also missing from our to-go order, and we were charged for it.

Not only did I feel welcomed, the food was also comforting. For two of my friends and I, we ordered four dishes. Everything came out quickly and almost all at once! We started with the seaweed salad which was fresh and crunchy. The tteok boki was an absolute highlight. Add gimmari (noodles wrapped in seaweed and deep fried) and cheese, you will not regret it! These were the perfect complement to the sweet and spicy sauces and chewy rice cakes. The Kalbi was the most delicious. Great sized pieces of meat that packed a punch with flavor. I love the pieces that had some fat and char. And the jjajangmyeon noodles were bouncy and coated with the black bean sauce. Every bite was better than the next. This spot was very relaxed and casual. The servers were so hospitable and friendly. I loved our experience and I will definitely come back for my favorites. My friends and I arrived on a Saturday evening and got seated quickly. There were parking spots available in the front and back of the restaurant.

(not too sure) The tofu soup I got was mild-lightly spicy and gosh it was the spiciest soup I've ever gotten and I usually eat this and other spicy foods perfectly fine! Wasn't the best for me. Alternatively the beef soup felt a bit bland but my friend liked it. Main complaint is not much beef in the soup and it tasted very tough. alternatively not much seafood either, just tiny small bits of cheap shrimps which were a bummer. Only good thing was the decent price and decent free side dishes (not many) of which only broccoli tasted good. Food took forever to come so side dishes were a life saver although they also were never refilled which at traditional places they are. Main thing: the service was quite bad... from the moment we walked in, we didn't feel welcome as no one welcomed us, dirty tables were everywhere (like in those video games you play to clean up), and we waited awhile at the counter looking at menus until someone greeted us with an attitude yelling that counter is only for to-go and we should've just sat down if we're dining in... she huffed and sat us down, surrounded by the dirty tables. We asked if we could sit elsewhere but as big as the restaurant was, she still said half of it was closed for dinner (I know other places do the same but they were kind enough to let us sit in that area when requested) and the reason why this time, was because we were literally sitting surrounded by dirty dishes all around us - which they never cleaned up the entire hour we dined here! Very unpleasant view-never have I ever! Even our current table was sticky. And the food and service took forever. She seemed very annoyed when we ordered and whenever we asked for water or refill side dishes and gave attitude like we obviously need to wait for her to appear and be free to even ask which she was rarely seen. I never saw her treat other customers like the same way she treated us, for them, she was very patient and kind and offered menu options and even personal talk. Seems like she doesn't like tourists, just regulars. Anyways she was rarely seen throughout the meal and so I just sucked up the not so good food and we finished and took awhile to get the check. That was the only point in the interaction she seemed to be present in the restaurant. Other times she was nowhere to be seen. When paying, she loudly exclaimed what do you want to tip? In an attitude saying that, we had to tip, and it had to be a sufficient amount otherwise she'd be upset - which she was because service was not good. Even when we left and said bye, she gave us no word back and just another one of those scowled looks. Only one lady working the front and she was barely present and not pleasant. Overall food really isn't bad but it isn't amazing either. If this cuisine is what you're craving go for it, it's fairly priced. I would support a small business. But don't expect a clean restaurant or friendly service - unless youre a regular or fits the server preferred demographic. Not the best experience for me. Whole heartedly believe if service was better this could be a solid place!
