I love how you're given the ability to get your own sides and meat. There's also an option to request for meats that aren't self-serve through a check off list that's picked up by the server. The quality of everything is fresh. The restaurant gives off the usual Korean bbq ambiance. I am a longtime customer of Koreana Grill. I have visited and taken friends and family over for the eating experience, all have the same response, OUTSTANDING! The prices have gone up, but nothing in comparison to fast food joints or chain restaurants. You can't beat this place, however the only thing missing is one of the original employees Mr. James who was the face of the restaurant always making customers feel welcome. This isn't your fancy KBBQ spot with crazy amounts of meats to choose from, but for what it is it does great! They do have a vary fair amount of meats that will meet your expectations; sliced brisket, beef bulgogi, chicken (teriyaki and spicy), beef and pork belly, shrimp, scallops, short ribs, and maybe a few others I am missing. And that's honestly all you really need to have a good time eating. Two things that I think elevate this spot over other KBBQ is their consistency with service! They are ALL so friendly and ready to help you. There is not one dedicated server to you so as they walk by they are always ready to help. They also change grills so frequently, if you have done KBBQ before you know how frustrating it can be when that grill starts to char up. The other thing that sets them apart is the fact that it is all self serve buffet style. They have a very wide variety to select from in their banchan bar area. All the meats are also available to grab. No need to wait for a server to come and place an order and wait for the food. They do have a small selection of meats that need to be brought out but they bring it very quickly. Oh! And unlike most KBBQ spots you can eat solo! This was my first Korean BBQ experience and it did not disappoint. Yes, there's usually a wait but for good reason. They're really the only local kbbq that does it buffet style, which I love because you hand pick your own sides and food. You can get as much of the sides as you like and that's a win. There's no need to wait on service even when it's busy, because when you're done, you just get up and grab your ingredients/sides yourself from the buffet-style bars! The noise level is about the same as every other KBBQ spot. You almost always have to wait outside in line to be seated for at least 30mins, but the wait is worth it!!! I really liked my experience here at Koreana Grill. The staff was great and kept checking on our grill for replacements. I love the fact that this establishment is serve yourself. I was able to serve myself all the meat I wanted over and over. No need to wait for a waiter or kitchen for food. And all the meats we tried were very yummy! But because it is serve yourself, there are not as many options for Banchan (side dishes) as other establishments. But they do have the basics like Tempura, Spicy Pickled Cucumbers, Kimchi, and Japchae. I also wish the circulation inside was a little better. The location is a bit older and I did see that they have a machine in the corner probably to either filter the air or to use as an A/C. Regardless, it was a little stuffy inside on a hot summer day. It is located in Riverside where temperatures can reach over 110 on some summer days. Just something to keep in mind when visiting. The food will be great regardless of the stuffiness. Parking can be limited due to the restaurant being part of a bigger shopping location but there is additional parking behind the restaurant.
