So glad that there's a Totoya near by our home now! We went early on a weekday evening and it was perfect timing because it wasn't crowded at all. There were only a couple other parties besides us. Our waitress was very nice and made sure we were doing okay the whole time. I ordered the Ume bowl and my boyfriend ordered the Maguro Lover bowl and added uni. I love that the mix of the Ume bowl has veggies and other things mixed into the mix. Oh and I also ordered a side salad because I love their yuzu dressing! All bowls come with a miso soup and you can upgrade your miso soup for an extra charge. The bowls are deceiving because they don't look huge but it definitely makes you full. They are a little pricey, but the closest you will get to Japan! Makes me miss Japan that much more. Very clean inside since they are one of the newest locations. Located on the second floor of Aiea Shopping Center (below Aiea Bowl). I also saw that they now have a spicy bowl so I neeeeed to go back!

We stumbled by this restaurant for lunch after our hike. And wow, their negitoro bowl was so delicious! It hit the spot. I had their limited "spicy negitoro bowl" special (running from 07/25/26-08/30/26 with only 20 bowls/day at $21.90 /bowl) with a side order of egg in shoyu. The bowl came with a small miso. My negitoro bowl was fresh, not too spicy, and crunchy. I could taste layers of goodies along with the tastiness of the egg yolk. Our server was attentive and friendly. The restaurant looked clean. They also have a stamp card for each negitoro bowl ordered and no cash accepted at this location. There's another Toyoya location in Kaimuki, which is closer to me but I have yet to try. Now, I know where to try next :).

Managed to snag one of the limited-time Spicy Negitoro Bowls ($21.90) at the Aiea location in the Aiea Shopping Center, and it was completely worth the hype! Since they only make 20 of these a day, you definitely want to get here early when they open at 11 AM. The bowl starts with their signature, ultra-creamy minced fatty tuna mixed with savory Japanese spicy takana and a special kick of spice. It is fantastic and packed with flavor straight out of the gate, but pouring over that side of creamy spicy mentaiko sauce takes it to a whole new level. The contrast of textures and the deep, savory heat make it stand out from any regular spicy tuna or poke bowl on the island. The Aiea spot is clean, welcoming, and a bit more spacious with table options compared to the counter-only setups. Service was fast and friendly. If you love raw fish and a good flavor kick, do yourself a favor and track down one of these daily specials before the promotion ends on August 30th! If you are waiting outside, you can request to borrow an umbrella as the sun is no bueno.

A taste of Japan right in Aiea! This place has been in my bookmarks for years and I finally got to try it out in their newest location. When they first opened this location, there was literally a line before opening but today, there was no line at all and we were the first ones in at 11 am. However, by the time we got our food, there were around 10 ppl (max occupancy is ~15 ppl). We ordered the Ume Bowl which is the most basic one which highlights their infamous Negitoro. Their negitoro includes ahi, scallops, cucumbers, ocean salad, green onions, nori, & you can add your own sesame seeds. I loved that each bite had something different and all the textures. We also got the shoyu egg (+$1.50) which added a salty and sweet flavor. I also liked the step by step instructions on how to best enjoy their bowls. My favorite way was making your own hand roll using the nori. I love the added crunchy nori and salty/sweet combo. Lastly, all bowls come with miso soup. I opted for the seaweed soup and the hubby got the soup of the day: salmon miso soup. He enjoyed it and said the salmon added another level of depth to the miso. There were also chunks of salmon in it. Overall, great quality fish and quick service! We'll definitely be back!

I'm so happy they opened up this location in Aiea! It is definitely not as busy as the other locations and is just as amazing. I love totoya and will always go back! Highly recommend the salmon bowl if you're a salmon lover. It is sooooo good and I'm still dreaming about it (I went a couple months ago). The ama ebi is also delicious. I'm not usually one who likes scallops but for some reason I love to eat it here! The crab miso wasn't worth picking out all the meat, but it was still delicious!

Just left Totoya and OMG! This was so good! First time here and my daughter and her hubs wanted us to try this place. First off, the service is EXCELLENT! Super friendly and very helpful. The food? WTH! I felt like I was in Tokyo! Fish is so fresh and the salmon miso soup was killers! We will definitely be back!!!!! I would give 1000000 stars if I could!

Cute little place to eat with friends. I love the food and the atmosphere. The service was great we got a chance to take a picture on our first time there and put the pictures on the wall.

Honestly, finding out of your to go place to eat ..opened up a location in Aiea is an absolute game-changer. I usually brave the traffic and parking over at their Kaimuki spot, so saving some serious gas money by coming here is a massive win! Lo and behold, it's practically right next door to my absolute favorite dessert spot, Ice Garden. Dinner and dessert in the exact same plaza? Absolute perfection. The food was incredible, but the service really sealed the deal. I was honestly pretty focused on devouring my meal, but the lady who took my order was so genuinely cheerful and happy that it just put me in an amazing mood. With the cheerful attitude brings a good ambiance to the place. Great food, sweet people, and the perfect location. I'll definitely be back!

Happy Mother's Day... It's something we don't usually do as this busy day makes our experience more chaotic and hectic besides I take care of mom on more than just one day but since I didn't have any plans or errands to do I decided to take her out at some places that she's been asking me and decided to do and Totoya was a place she's been asking for as well so checking out their third location in Aiea sounded like the perfect thing to do. We arrived just before they opened and with just a few guests waiting outside I thought that we had a chance for their first seating which we did and it was just nice. Can't really say which location is more spacious as it's all pretty cozy but the staff does work the system well as we sat on the counter hugging the kitchen I sat next to a lady who was very loud and it really destroyed my vibe and talked throughout the whole time is my only complaint but we enjoyed our bowls...Negitoro with crab miso soup for mom and Salmon Ikura for me with Ikura on the side. What makes it nice is the fast service and self service water and ginger they have table side so there's no flagging down anyone as you are able to enjoy your meal at your own pace. If you don't finish their generous portion you can take it home which take out is a new thing that they're doing as well is a nice option since they get so busy and are able to enjoy at your leisure wherever you are but on this Mother's Day it was very nice and happy mom is happy me as well. Thank you!

First of all, if you want to eat here, then you need to plan accordingly. They do not take reservations. You also can't just leave your name and come back when the table is ready. You check in and wait in a line outside, regardless of the weather. Luckily, we had a large umbrella to shield us from the sun. The servers may collect your order while you're in line so that your food is ready. There's limited seating so this practice benefits them. If they serve you quickly, then you'll leave quickly. There's no alcohol here so the vibe is very much "fast food" (as in, please eat and leave). With that having been said, the food is worth every bit of the wait in line. I could eat here every day. Get the shoyu egg, even if you don't know what it is. It will compliment the flavors coming up. Next time though, we'll either take out or delivery. There's no real need to dine in. But if you do dine in, we appreciated that they played JPop overhead, adding to the ambience.

Negitoro (ネギトロ) is a popular Japanese sushi topping made from minced raw tuna mixed with green onions. It traditionally combines fatty tuna (toro) scraps scraped from between the bones with green onions (negi), though modern versions often use minced, blended tuna mixed with oils to create a rich, creamy texture. (Google) Totoya is known for its Negitoro. This is the second location on Oahu. The first Totoya is located in Kaimuki. We stumbled upon this Aiea location when we went to the Roast Duck Kitchen. My daughter, who is visiting from CA, wanted roast duck with cake noodles for lunch. Lo and behold, she saw the Totoya sign and changed her mind, when I said ... my treat. Neither of us had tried Totoya. We both heard about the delicious rice bowls topped with Ikura (salmon roe/fish eggs). The restaurant is small in size. There is counter seating and a few tables against the wall. Clean tables and nice wall decor. I did not check if there was a bathroom. Service was attentive and 5 stars. Water jug provided on the table. Our order came out quickly. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. We each ordered a different bowl. See photos. I really enjoyed my maguro lover bowl that was filled with maguro slices that had been seasoned in a shoyu like sauce. Rice was nicely prepared and I highly recommend getting the nori pieces to wrap some rice and maguro into a hand roll to devour! A happy and delicious meal here at Totoya.

Fresh food? Check! Friendly staff? Check! Cozy space? Check! Are you are hungry for Negitoro, check out this place! Space is limited so expect a line. When we visited, there wasn't a system for waiting customers. We just stood in line and were called in wherever seats were available. Ikura shower comes with a cool performance from the staff~ :) Eat fresh & Have FUN!

But the chicken katsu was one of the worst I've ever had on O'ahu. The chicken katsu was greasy and soaked in old oil that tasted rancid and oxidized, which made the panko a disappointingly saturated mess. The panko was way too browned, and neither flaky or freshly crunchy like katsu should truly be, and was a far cry from the photo in the menu. The poor, fatty chicken quality and the rubbery skin left on the chicken pieces just added to the gristly and chewy nature of the katsu. Charging customers these prices for this kind of subpar quality chicken is absolutely insulting, and we couldn't even finish the dish. It's such a disappointment to write this kind of review, but others need to know what they're getting when they order katsu at Gyotaku.

The meat options are also good and I like how thin they cut the meat. My favorites were the pork belly and short rib. They have a variety of broth and I tried the sukiyaki and tonkotsu. The sukiyaki went well with the meat. They also give you either a sorbet or ice cream at the end for dessert. Service: the servers were very attentive and brought out the meat quickly. Ambiance: the feel of the place is pretty homey and simple. Price: the price has gone up over the years, but I still think its worth it for the variety of options and quality of meat.

Time for an update... ROKARU STILL TAKES THE WIN!!…read more We've been to several other hot pot spots around the island over the past years, and we can confidently say Rokaru is still our favorite. The broths (Rokaru broth in particular) are the most flavorful, the protein selection is the best, and the service is consistently outstanding. The staff is always friendly, attentive, and quick to refill or help with anything you need, which really makes the whole experience enjoyable. The self-serve veggie bar is our fave too since they've added fresh enoki mushrooms. For me, I load up on equal parts veggies & meats, so I don't feel too bad going hard on the AYCE haha! It feels like there's something for everyone on the Premium AYCE. Seafood, veggies, appetizers, meats, starches, then the best part is ending with Dave's Ice Cream dessert! Yummy :) We also recently learned they offer a 5% military discount, which is another thoughtful bonus. After trying other places, Rokaru continues to stand out for us with its combination of flavor, freshness, variety, service, and overall value. It's still the hot pot place we recommend first to anyone looking for a solid dinner option. It's become one of those places we keep coming back to because every visit is consistently great. Highly recommend if you're craving hot pot!

My bro ordered the combo set with fried oysters and unagi. My mom ordered the Tonkatsu and fried oyster combo set. I had the shrimp tempura and unagi set. And my daughter had the kids wakame udon and added fish cake and they also added corn which is a favorite of hers. The miso soups in the sets had the little rolled tofu curls, wakame and green onion. The waitress gave my daughter a cute Hello Kitty bowl so we could portion out the udon. Overall it was a really great meal and we'll definitely be back! The restaurant was very clean and not noisy at all. Volume of music was perfect for families and definitely kid friendly. Service was excellent and food came out fast.
