Came here to celebrate my sisters birthday. Following the sad permanent closure of Isobune (the OG sushi boat restaurant in the US in San Francisco's Japan town), there has been an empty belly awaiting a boat spot like this. Unfortunately I have to say the food is mid. Came closer to closing so the food wasn't really like exciting nor did it seem particularly fresh. They have those robot things that serve food. There's also supposed to be some sort of gamification system with a hidden dot or something on the bottom of the plate but ain't nobody got time for that

I came here hoping for a fun floating sushi boat experience. It was basically fast food quality at Mr. Chow prices. On the bright side, I didn't get food poisoning, so that's something. They advertise 21 different rolls. Only four were actually circulating, along with edamame and seaweed salad. With the limited variety, I decided to order the chicken katsu. The chicken katsu was okay. My boyfriend and I can make a better version at home. The miso soup was basic and had carrots. The staff were friendly and attentive, which I appreciated. There was no wait when we arrived, which in hindsight should have been my first clue. Overall, not terrible and definitely not worth the price.

The salmon sashimi and other sushi rolls were tasty. The service was great. It's run by the nicest elderly couple, so welcoming and accommodating. They're so very grateful for their customers coming in. I enjoyed myself. Will return again.

I arrived before the sushi boat was running so unfortunately missed that cool action. The sushi and soba I ordered was just okay but the robot that delivered the sushi was really cool! The reason for the low rating was that it smelled like rotten mop water and rancid grease in the restaurant. I've worked in places before where I know that smell, from kitchen floor mats and tile that don't get fully cleaned, and the smell really ruined lunch for me. The mixed tempura was delicious though.

Had an amazing time here. We were seated right away. The portions were generous and delicious. The rotating boats with sushi and other bites were fast. Will be coming back and bringing more family and friends.

I really like this place. They have sushi boats and had my favorite roll (Philly) which I never see at the boat/conveyor places. They had a lot of other popular rolls going around as well. They have a fun birthday celebration and a cute little robot that delivers food and other items that aren't going around the moat. The staff is so sweet. The prices are also very reasonable, especially considering the location.

First time eating here. The only good thing about this restaurant was that the service was decent. The servers were nice and attentive. Otherwise the food / drinks were not up to standards. Some of the sushi on boat was covered because it had been in rotation for a while and was cold. I first roll I picked several bones out of the cooked fish. Also ordered beer and hot saki. Saki was supposed to be hot (it was lukewarm and too sweet) and the beer glass was not clean and smelled like a dirty sponge. I didn't finish either drink. We also ordered a couple rolls off the menu. They were decent but because of the other issues I wasn't able to enjoy it. This restaurant has ppotential but needs to reimagine its concept to get more customers to come thru the door. Until then I will not be coming back.

We've been here before but haven't left a review previously. The food is good but the best thing about the place is the ROBOT! Yes you read that correctly, the robot that delivers your food is amazing. I am a geek/nerd, but who wouldn't love to have their table visited by a robot carrying yummy food. The robot delivers to both the tables or if you sitting at the sushi boats. We ordered, a vegetarian bento, california roll, avocado roll, agedashi tofu, gomae, rock and roll which were all delicious. The selection on the sushi boats were decent and not a great variety but definitely what was available was good.

The staff seated us right away and we were able to order within a few minutes. The menu has a great assortment of sushi, bento boxes and more so if you're in a larger group, there is something for everyone. As a group of 3, my friends and I decided to split the meal family style and ordered bento boxes and a few rolls. The food came out within just a few minutes. The rolls are visually appealing and very appetizing. They held together nicely, although the spicy scallop roll was falling apart - however I do think scallop is trickier to work with so I didn't mind it. The bento boxes offered a great quantity of food for the price, so it was worth it! What stood out to me was the crisp texture of the tempura and katsu - only callout here is that the katsu was cut into thinner slices which you might not prefer if you like thicker slices. Overall, I'm glad I found this gem and I'm looking forward to a future visit!

The good: fresh, quality ingredients The bad: started with the host/wait list. I accidentally added my name twice for a solo diner. Host thought it was a mistake and completely removed me from the wait list and seated other parties that came in after me. Thoroughly confused - she didn't even call my name to confirm so I had to go up to her and ask. No apology either. Was seated at the counter where solo diners usually sit. Service was non existent. Server came up to me and ask "what would you like to order?" I've never been there before. No "hi my name is ... I'll be your server" nada. They're just a machine - people in people out. The ramen - broth was fine. The squiggly noodles aren't my favorite. Expected to have kernel corn but had corn ribs instead (good thing I'm good with chopsticks!) The charshu was just okay. Enoki topping was just ... aight. The nice touch was that they didn't put it in the ramen and served it on the side to preserve its crunchiness because it definitely needed the texture! It was loud, busy, and nothing spectacular about the dining scene here. $55 dollars later (ramen, 2 additional toppings, one box of sake) ... I sadly don't think it was worth it.

My standout favorite of the night was the black cod with truffle butter, it was absolutely incredible. I also started with the miso soup, which was the perfect way to begin the meal. The cocktails were sensational. They have such a wide variety, and although I can't remember the names of the ones I ordered, my server was incredibly knowledgeable and helped me choose drinks that paired perfectly with each course. His recommendations really elevated the entire dining experience. Unfortunately, I had a show to catch across the street at the Fox Theater, so I found myself rushing through the end of my meal. The silver lining is that Yonsei is literally just steps away from the venue, making it a perfect dinner spot before a show. First, the only real positive: they have a dedicated parking lot. Anyone who drives around Oakland knows that parking can be a nightmare, so having a lot is a massive plus. Unfortunately, that was the only smooth part of the visit. The pickup process itself was incredibly flawed: The Pay-in-Store Policy: You can place your order online, but you can't actually pay until you arrive. They cite fraud prevention, which I can understand from a business standpoint, but it completely defeats the convenience of ordering ahead. Not Ready on Time: Because payment isn't processed beforehand, they didn't actually have our food ready by the promised pickup time when we arrived. Handed the Wrong Order: To make matters worse, the staff initially handed us a completely incorrect order with a totally different name on it. Luckily, we noticed the mistake before walking out. Confusion & Extra Waiting: After a few moments of confusion at the counter, they realized the mix-up and told us it would be a few more minutes while they got our actual order sorted. While the food is worth the price and the parking is great, a "convenient" online ordering system shouldn't result in delays, confusion, and wrong orders at the counter.
