    Chicken Parmesan Hoagie

Great little spot close by to campus. Needed a spot for a quick and casual dinner on a Tuesday night. Glad we gave this spot a try because we were met with the friendly owners who quickly whipped up our meals. Yummy meals with a budget friendly price! This spot is well worth the price. We ordered the gyro and chicken parm with fries which were good. The desserts looked scrumptious as well (they're on display in the front), but it was getting late and we didn't get a chance to try them. Overall, a great spot for anyone who's looking for a quick bite. Atmosphere is like a deli with dine in room so don't expect dine in to be fancy but the food at that price point and interaction with the owners is well worth it. The owners were super sweet and attentive. We were glad to have supported a small business! Definitely give this little hole in the wall a try. You won't be disappointed!

A look at the innards: tubular pasta, spaghetti, chickpeas with caramelized onions and spiced tomato sauce

I came on a friend's recommendation. Apparently the eponymous koshari(e) is rarely found outside of Egypt, where it's street food. And indeed this is a relatively simple dish, kind of an Egyptianized (is that a word?) pasta. He also suggested getting double sauce (the tomato sauce) as that's where most of the flavor is. I did not do that and probably should have. The large is a massive amount of food for dirt cheap. It's an entire styrofoam container packed full of pasta. It would make for 2 filling normal person dinners. It's basically pasta with chickpeas and tomato sauce. I think my friend hyped this up a bit much for me and I came away feeling it was nothing special. Considering it's street food, not terribly surprising. Given his excitement, I'd give this another try but definitely ask for double the tomato sauce.

We ordered takeout from here and I was impressed. I would recommend takeout. When I travel, gyros are like a comfort food for me since you can find them a lot of places. I haven't been able to find many good gyros in the US, but I liked the gyros here! We had chicken schawarma, gyros, falafel and a salad. The best was probably the gyros and falafel. The sauce put on the wraps make them juicy (not dry). We had a good experience and I haven't had other good gyros around town so I'm giving this a high rating.

We did delivery that got a but messed up (delayed) which left our food to be cold. I can't blame the restaurant for that. We found the falafel and chicken shawarma sandwiches to be wonderful and flavorful. The salad was quite good but did have a heavy amount of dressing. The GMO omelette was not good - American (artificial) cheese, tasteless vegetables. Stick to the middle eastern food when you order. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are quite big. Next time we will do our own pick up and stick to the more traditional entrees.

The owner Muhammad was such a nice guy, he greeted me like family right when I walked in. Food was fantastic .. can't wait to go back!

A small kosharie - so much food, hearty, and homemade

I ordered take out after reading the article of the Isthmus that this was a new restaurant near the Vilas neighborhood! So I ordered a side of falafel and a small kosherie, the namesake of this restaurant. I did some research before I want ordered, and a kosherie is the national dish of Egypt, and that usually consist caramelized onions and a tomato based sauce on top of a mixture of legumes, rice, and noodles. When I got home to open my container, there was so much food! I ordered a small, but when I looked at the kosherie, this is enough food for me the last 2 days. I had no idea what I was getting myself into but with the 1st bite, you could tell how much love this was made with. In some ways, it reminded me of a spaghetti and marinara with chickpeas and lentils, but I think what held the dish together the most was the caramelized onions and chili flakes and how they added this extra layer of flavor that makes you have bite after bite. The falafel were good too! You could taste how homemade they were, were flavorful and crispy, and I would order these again as well. I look forward to going back and trying more of their dishes and wish them the best success!

Ordered takeout from here after reading some pretty good reviews online. We arrived after the time that our food was supposed to be ready and had to wait a little bit. It wasn't really a big issue, but as a note it was quite warm in the restaurant. It actually made outside on an 80+ degree day feel cool. We ended up ordering the kosharie plate, the schwarma wrap with chicken, and the falafel wrap. The kosharie plate was the favorite for us. It was described as having spicy lentils, rice, pasta, caramelized onions, chick peas, and tomato sauce, but we didn't see any chick peas in the dish. That being said, it did have a very nice flavor. It also paired well when we added salad greens to it. The schwarma wrap with chicken was also pretty good, but had a different flavor than we are used to with schwarma. It was almost a sweet taste and a little greasier than we are used to. That being said it was a good size for value. The let down was the falafel wrap. I was really hopeful as I'm a big fan of falafel, but when we tasted it, the falafel was burnt. Again it was a good portion size, and if it wasn't burnt, I think it would have been pretty good. Sadly, we can't judge that.

Wonderful little place walking distance from camp Randall. Falafal was fresh and homemade. Salad was delicious and the kosharie was very hearty. All the food was really healthy. Tip: pickup a slice of the baklava. The owner makes it herself.

Great place to get gyros near campus, it looks a little shady when you walk in but the food is delicious.

The Gyro is fantastic! This place is cheaper than 90% of restaurants these days and has better quality food than most.

We were having a work "philly cheesesteak" dinner but needed a good spot to get takeout. We came to Crostini - ordering was super easy and our food was ready and waiting for us upon arrival. Staff was very friendly in our limited interaction. I don't love steak, so I got the philly chicken cheesesteak, and holy moly was this sandwich massive. I could barely even hold it together there was so much chicken going on there!! I ended up keeping all the chicken that naturally fell out of the sandwich as leftovers and put it over rice for a meal the next day. I loved that the sandwich had mushroom and peppers on it, having some veggie interaction made it feel healthy :) Especially considering I got a small french fry with it too (which was actually somewhat large). Ketchup was extra so I went without it and was perfectly happy eating my french fries without condiments. This place definitely still fills a void in the area and I highly recommend checking them out!

The online ordering system is a little clunky but they were able to handle our requests (no tomato). And the ability to see your order status was very nice. Our food was still hot (that should be) when we picked up. The actual restaurant is a little awkward when you get inside. There's a small alcove to the left where you place your order. And you have to ring the bell for service. Everyone was super nice and the place looked vibey from what I could see. Not a ton to say since I just picked up. The food was excellent. The sub sandwich comes rolled kind of like a wrap which I wasn't expecting but didn't impact the flavor of experience. The panini was huge and easily 2 meals. Fries were soooo good. Like stadium quality. And don't skip the nacho cheese if you like a classic cheese fry. Overall I'm sad we haven't tried them sooner!

My coworker and I got there at the end of the brunch hour (2 pm) and settled on the things we ordered. After we put our order in they gave us new menus.... They could've gave us a heads up as the lunch menu had more items and more of what we really wanted so that we were a bit frustrated with the staff because of that. Place was cool as it was game day for foot ball so it had people in there cheering and giving the place to life.

My childhood friend Cara, and I enjoyed a pleasant lunch Thursday afternoon as served by Grace (with grace). We both had the Mediterranean Bowl (see photo). Overall, a good price, and for a little extra it comes with a filet of salmon (my choice) or chicken breast. Food 3/5: we're used to Minnesota old fashions, so the watered down version seems odd to us. We got on old fashion without a mixer , and it tasted like the added water to it. The cheese curds at this place used to be hand battered, but now seem frozen. The dipping sauce was a nice compliment, but not the most fresh. The kids loved their Dino nuggets with fruit and ranch. The Mac and cheese was buttered noodles with sprinkle cheese and didn't have an actual cheese sauce, we would not recommend. Everyone else at the table got some version of the fish fry. The haddock was cooked well and the portion was adequate. The fish sandwich was undercooked/doughy and was not good. I did like their tartar sauce and thought it balanced the fish well. Service 4/5: our waiter seemed a little overwhelmed and was attentive as he was able. He did get our kids orders in before ours which was nice. The food came hot. Ambiance 5/5: we were sat upstairs which was beautiful during the sunset. Overall this is a kid friendly place (upstairs at least) and our kids loved looking g out the windows and watching the cars and the sunset. Overall their food quality and options have changed over the years and is not as consistently high quality as it used to be. The menu has also changed significantly, so check before you come.
