Heard Kosta's has a good breakfast, but we wouldn't know. Visited today for the first time. Put our name in the waitlist and got our pager. Told it would reach the parking lot so went back to our car to wait the 20-25 minutes quoted. After quite a bit of time had passed we went back in to check and they had passed us over. No apology, but they did then seat us right away. Only to then find out we missed the breakfast cutoff time by a few minutes (the time that had passed waiting because they passed us up on the waitlist) and the server would not budge, saying "they would kill me if I turned in a late breakfast order!". We wanted breakfast so we left and drove to Another Broken Egg. Not sure we'll go back to try Kosta's again :( read more

Best Breakfast in WNC. They win every year. We love the Greek omelet and the friendly service. We keep talking about trying lunch, but if you have breakfast here you won't want lunch. Don't let the full parking lot deter you, they have lots of seating and service is amazingly fast, unlike most of the Tourist traps here. This is a WNC gem! read more

Upon arrival we were greeted promptly and with a smile. Then the hostess asked how many, we said two and began following the hostess to where we would be seated. When you first enter the restaurant there was a empty table to our left . We were led past this table in the front dining room. She proceeded to lead us through a middle dining room past two more open tables. Keep in mind two white gentlemen came in behind us and were seated at that table in the front dining room; while me and companion were lead to the back of the restaurant, where the hostess had to turn on a light to seat us. Which meant this seating area was not being used. Now at this point if you have not figured it out me and my soon-to-be wife are people of color. My soon-to-be wife made a statement to me and me only not in 2019. If I could give this restaurant zero stars I would . The food was not that impressive. For people of color traveling in around the Asheville area, please do not patronize this business. They are not worth spending your hard earned money with. read more

Absolutely the best hush puppies I have ever had and the fried trout was pretty awesome too. My sister had the beef stew with a grilled cheese sandwich. We are talking about enough soup to be a real hearty meal. The portions are big, service is fast and friendly. I thought the prices were obscenely cheap so we left the waitress an extra large tip. This was recommended to us by our Airbnb host and we were not disappointed. Don't let the outside fool you, there's a lot of seating and we only had to wait about 5 min. Despite the outdated decor, this is the place to come for tasty diner food at cheap prices. Biscuits, bacon/eggs, home fries were all delicious but the real highlight was the grits. I have eaten here several times and I'm not sure why I never took the time to give them a review. The service has always been good. The food is not fancy fare but they have a good variety to choose from. Most everyone should be able to find something on the menu to eat. I have always been happy with the food I've ordered. Kosta's is generally pretty busy and the seating is sometimes a little tight so the ambiance isn't the best. What they lack in flair they make up for with good food. The jalapeño Mac and cheese bites are delicious for an appetizer and they have a good selection of deserts to complete your meal. There is a reason the locals eat here. I have never eaten breakfast at Kosta's but I have heard it is excellent. read more

Don't get the liver. The fish prep reminds me of down east NC. Simply grilled with lemon. The Cole slaw was dressed and not doused. You might want to add a touch of salt. Because of Covid-19 restrictions the hot breakfast bar at the hotel was closed so we opted to eat breakfast out both mornings and Kostas was one of our choices. Food was good albeit pricey. My wife & I didn't even get a breakfast meat with our meals and with coffee, tax and tip it was just shy of $24. If we both had gotten a breakfast meat it would have been closer to $30 and that's a really hefty price tag for breakfast for two people. We are used to paying $17 with tax and tip with both of us getting a breakfast meat at our go to breakfast place back home. Our server Darlene was friendly but forgot about us after she brought our food, so we never got checked on to see if we needed anything else or our coffee refilled. Had to flag her down at the end of our meal to get a to go box and a to go coffee since we never got refills. Overall it was just ok, service could have been much better and it was pricey. Next time we're in South Asheville and the hot breakfast bar at the hotel is shut down I think we will look for other options for a hot breakfast besides Kosta's read more

We went by for breakfast and it was okay. We were put into the back room and it was cold and empty. The food was good but I don't see all the hype. This is a great place to have breakfast. The home fries are worth a visit on their own. I even get an order to go for the next day @ home!). Eggs are cooked correctly, lots of specials, (omlettes, French toast with various toppings, etc etc). They are Greek owned, so lots of things with spinach, feta, and so forth. Daily lunch and dinner specials that are above average, the rest of the menu is pretty standard. Great coffee and iced tea. Service is fast, friendly, and efficient. It isn't 'dining' but its' a good place to 'eat'. Casual atmosphere, easy access from I26, Closed Monday's. Don't be put off by a crowded parking lot - they have LOTS of seating. read more

I look forward to my weekly leads group meeting here for several reasons. I've been a regular for several years, in fact, and have been visiting Kosta's since their original (I think) location on Sweeten Creek Rd. The Henderson Co. Chamber of Commerce business leads group is great, and it's been meeting in the private area in back for a few years. New business, building relatIonships, neighbors, camaraderie, and more. And not to take anything away from the group, here's the other reason I look forward to Thursday mornings at Kostas. They have the best breakfast in Fletcher. Menu items include the typical as well as great omelets, specials every single day. Plus, they try to honor special dietary requests, which is great for me, because I try some weird diets. My experience at Kostas is proof positive that service is just as important (if not more) than the food. Miriam is the absolute perfect server for the group! I am so impressed with her service, attitude, professionalism, intuition. I don't go much for lunch or dinner, but the menu is nice, comfort foods and regional (American and Mediterranean) items. read more

Look, this place is consistent, familiar and trusted. This is not "Foo Foo" and this is not going to be a plate that was intended to garner the fancy of the entitled. Every dish I have had feels like a blue plate special from thirty years ago and that is A OK with me. The sides are delicious and c'mon, who doesn't appreciate that crowder peas are a staple on the menu. I love the old school liver and onions with brown gravy. I ordered take out and when I go there my food was not ready which was not an issue except for the fact that they were not enforcing the new Mask mandate. It felt totally unsafe and Kosta the owner came out to talk to me with his mask under his nose. I had never been here and was really looking forward to it because I love Greek food. I got the Chicken Gyro Platter and it was a complete disappointment. The chicken was overcooked and dry, they gave such a small container of Tzatziki that there was barely enough for even 1/4 of the pita. Can't believe I gave up The Black Rose for St Patty's day at Kostas in Fletcher, a chance to please my Irish heart. MISTAKE! From start to nothing finished it was in a short word Awful! The corn beef was round tasteless deli beef which I wrapped inside the yeast roll. The beef floated on a weak cabbage soup, where the potato (Irish at that) was disintegrated. The orange was carrot but none could be distinguished by taste. To end this I was dining alone, which is sad in itself but this meal actually depressed me. Point in fact, Kostas could have done much better leaving the Irish meal at lunch. Cause what I got served was inexcusable (kind of like something Trump does everyday). Help I'm sad. My husband and I eat at Kostas a couple of times a week. The food is really good, but I have got the Chicken and rice soup several times and three out of four times it is so salty..It is easy to add salt but very hard to remove it. Also I got the beef tips on Tuesdays and it was the same way. One time great, next time briney salty... Today I got chicken and rice soup to go and had it tonight for dinner, I had to add a pint of chicken broth before I could eat it. I took 50 minutes to drive there order the food and get back to work... not providing items that are paid for is STEALING... so at kostas.. they don't listen to get your order right, they don't check the order to make sure its right ... and they HANG UP when you ask for a Manager. ...I won't be back and you shouldn't go there... read more
