Honestly, we were looking forward to trying this place after reading all the positive reviews on yelp. Unfortunately, it was pretty disappointing, namely the service. We were trying to look for parking, which ended in us showing up 2 min after our name was called. The hostess was visibly annoyed when we showed up, which is valid for us being a little late, no problem there. Luckily, she put us back on the list and told us to look out for a text. We waited outside, waited for a text, no text came, and the hostess came back out and rudely said "I texted you did you check your phone!?". THAT was uncalled for (I never received a text btw). After we got seated and placed our orders, it took about 40 minutes for the food to come out. No one came by to check on us in the meantime. The portions of food were pretty large. Loco moco was probably the blandest I've ever had. Mac nut pancake with the coconut cream and the lattes that we had were pretty good, which is the only reason for 2 stars. Glad we ordered in advance because this place was packed and we had a plane to catch. What an amazing way to end my first visit to Kauai! The Kauai Benedict is filling and delicious in every way! Everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned, kahlua pork was mouthwatering, Hawaiian sweet bread brought everything together, and my hashbrowns were extra crispy just as requested. Always a delicious meal with amazing waitstaff who are friendly and hardworking. Carrie and Este are da best ! I love my usual breakfast, bacon avocado eggs Benedict. I usually don't stray far from that unless they have the crab Benedict ! :) Husband is adventurous. He gets something new every week. Often the "special". Yesterday's Pigs in a Blanket were to die for. He also loved the Fiesta Omelette and the Benedict made with cornbread and fresh spinach and homemade sausage patty. Wait was short and we were greeted with a warm welcome. Perused the gift shop - full of local artists work at reasonable prices. Coffee good and hot! Lots of families here - clear that the locals appreciate it. Prices moderate- wide range of choices for all diet interests and appetites. Waiter approached to get drinks within a few minutes of seating, and took our order as we were ready to go. Cool atmosphere- check out the art on the walls! My partner ordered the traditional eggs Benedict with Hashbrowns and I went for the luau omelette sans the dairy with fruit. Food was fresh and well prepared. Our first breakfast on the island, and we gave this a try. No wait at 8:30 am. Nice clean place (a little dark for a breakfast place!) with fun decor. Our server was outstanding. Friendly and on the ball. Coffee was great as advertised. Pretty strong. We had a Porker Sandwich, an Avocado Egg and Cheese Sandwich, and a Kountry pancake. All solid. I wish there had been a bit more flavor to the Porker. The pancake was also a little overdone, so it was a bit chewy. Nothing the coconut syrup (delicious) couldn't take care of. The service is friendly with a hang loose and mahalo vibe!! We love everything about this spot!! Kountry Kitchen is the place to be on a beautiful Kauai morning! We stopped by decently early on a Monday and were able to walk right up and get seated. I'm not usually a sweet breakfast type of girl, but the Salty Monkey Waffle was to die for. It was piled high with caramel, bananas, macadamia nuts, and whipped cream. The Elvis waffle was also overflowing with peanut butter (in the best way). The savory breakfast items were also delicious. The bacon was crispy and eggs were cooked to perfection. I'd recommend coming in early, or joining the waitlist on Yelp, since we did see lines out the building on other mornings. Don't miss this spot! read more

This is a hot spot for weekend brunch, unsurprisingly as it's really good, but definitely book your spot on the waitlist with Yelp if you can so you don't have to wait so long! We waited about 40 minutes on a Sunday late morning. The place is really cute though, I love the Hawaiian diner vibes. We got a black coffee, Eggs Benedict, and the banana pancakes that I'd heard really great things about. the coffee was okay, but tasted like it had been sitting out a while. The refill was better. Food took a long while to arrive, but they were quite busy at the time. The eggs Benedict were really tasty, the ham was good quality, the eggs yolks were perfectly runny, and the hollandaise was delicious. The hash browns (which we asked for extra crispy) were just how I like them. The banana pancakes lived up to the hype. Moist and fluffy. I totally understand why this restaurant is so highly rated!!!! I'm so glad we decided to get up early and go around the time when they opened. There were already a few people seated when we got there. The staff are all so welcoming and kind and attentive. I ordered the salted caramel iced latte (not very caramelly but still very good). The ham breakfast sandwich and YUM when I say ham I mean REAL sliced off the bone thick ham. It was definitely not lacking any meat. I added some ketchup and it was delicious. We also got the macadamia French toast to share and they do not skimp out on the macadamias WOW. The homemade coconut syrup was lightweight but thick and not too sweet absolutely delicious. We also got the kalua pork and eggs and upgraded to the char sui fried rice. Definitely worth getting the upgrade if you have a huge appetite it was an abundance worth of food!!! Waited an hour for kanaka party of three to be seated. No water or drinks provided. Party of four caucasians were sat 15 minutes after us with water. They also got served before us. After finally ordering, we had to wait another hour for food to come. My husband ordered Pork Chops w/ soft scrambled eggs and corn bread. When food arrived an over an hour later, they served him Kalua pork with well done scrambled. He ended up canceling his order, waited in the car and my daughter ate his corn bread since he left it behind after being annoyed for having wrong breakfast that should've been served at 11:30a come out at 1p. They ended up charging me $5 for the corned bread. Absolutely no customer service, remorse or empathy. It's clear they only care about a certain demographic. We were in Kauai for a friend's birthday, and wanted to have a brunch together. We made reservations as we had a big party, and I'd highly recommend it as this place gets busy! - PARKING - There's street parking spots along the road as well as a dirt lot right across the restaurant. - SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT - We had a few friends running late but they were still setting up our table so it worked out. The inside is quite snug, but we got a large table area in the back. Staff were friendly and welcoming, but they are very busy so they will hurry you along if you don't know what you want! After ordering our food came out fairly quick, even considering our large party. - FOOD - Macadamia Nut French Toast: They did not skimp on the Macadamia Nuts! They also gave us coconut syrup, which was a nice flavor but we also poured the regular syrup for more sweetness. The French Toast was fluffy and delicious! Corned Beef Loco Moco: Gravy was delicious, and so was the corned beef! Our second time to Kauai and both times we went to Kountry Style Kitchen for breakfast/brunch. No reservation available, but you can join the waitlist ahead of time on Yelp. Or you can join the waitlist upon arrival. They have signs to point you to their tablet to enter your name and party number. When we arrived, there were about 20 parties ahead of us - very busy. It looks like the place expanded, or they added more tables since the first time we visited. During the hour or so wait, we waked around the area and went into some shops. They use to have an open lot right in front of them for parking, but it was not available. Plan ahead to do street parking since the lot where the restaurant is can only fit maybe 4 or 5 cars. When they're ready for you, you will receive a text to check in with the host. Once you check back in, you're seated within minutes. We got a great table inside near the front window. Our server was wonderful - friendly, knowledgeable, and energetic. She went over the specials for the day and they all sounded amazing. Our server was attentive and checked on us often. Since it was busy, it took a but for our food to come out. But we completely expected the wait. So happy we went here and waited to eat here. All our food and drinks were so delicious! Really hit the spot for my daughter since she was asking for Loco Moco. Sidenote: they have a togo Cafe right next door. If you're in a hurry, you can order food and drinks to go. We were seated in the aluminum container in the back which had no windows and the lights were really bright and there was no music in there like the rest of the restaurant. It was a half booth half chair situation where you sit very far across from the person you're with and you feel like you can't have a private conversation and the booth was much higher than the chair and had no cushion. My back was to the open doorway where everyone was coming and going and I felt like I was in the way. Our food took a very long time to come out and people who had arrived way after us were already eating. We considered paying for our drinks and leaving because we felt neglected. We ordered the loco moco dish which had no flavor and we kept adding salt and soy sauce which wasn't helping at all. The meat tasted like someone had boiled it and not seasoned it. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant unless you hate flavor and love long waits and an uncomfortable atmosphere. read more

Once greeted, we placed our order. 37 minutes for food to come out after we had to ask if it was coming. Our server brought over an iPad to show us it was only "35 minutes" to just and justify. Since you're here on Yelp and you're interested in dining here... GET ON THE WAITLIST ahead of time which can be accessed via the Yelp app We made that mistake and just showed up at 11:15am. I had to enter my name on the list and saw I was 18th in line and it would take about an hour and 15 minutes to be seated. It really did take an hour before I got a text saying our table would be ready soon. The staff was welcoming, full of smiles, and happy to answer questions. Of course our eyes were bigger than our stomachs but here's what we ordered: Macnut Latte w/ Oat Milk Americano Spam & Cheddar Omelette Keiki Pancakes with a side of Nutella Porker Ube French Toast Everything was tasty, rich and heavy... we did not finish everything. One of those food coma type of places and the dishes are worth sharing, if that's your thing. All of this was just under $100 after tip. Husband got corned beef hash, which he said was salty. Eggs were poached perfectly. I got Kauai Benedict, with kalua pork, and supposedly lomi lomi salmon ( which I saw none of). It came with a small piece of really sweet papaya, yummy. But the sweet bread was so big, and the portion of pork so big, it needed more hollandaise to make it something other than eggs on eggs. We joined the waitlist with several people ahead of us but the wait wasn't too long; you can also join the list at the restaurant info page. The lady came quickly to get our order: I had to have the Loco Moco because it's a fave of mine and tastes so much better when someone else prepares it :) Freshly squeezed lemonade is deliciously tart, depending on what's available on the day; there are other fruit juices available but I like lemons.... The ambience is all Hawaiian with many paintings of the ocean and the notorious Kauai chickens rattan chairs and 'marble' tables where we were seated. The main dining area also has tables in the booth fashion, where you sit on wood seats. It's very very busy today, being a holiday, but I think it's always full because of the line outside waiting. The lady taking our order was super nice, helpful and friendly!
