North Vancouver is a hub for Persian bakeries, but I'd never been to one until recently. In the process of writing an article on Asian bakeries in Metro Vancouver, I jumped at the opportunity to check this place out. Here is everything I tried the first time I visited: 1. Jalebi: enjoyed the slightly crunchy texture, but on its own it was a little too sweet for me. Would have again with tea. 2. Chickpea cookies: you know that delicious, melt-in-your-mouth quality you get with shortbread? These cookies were like that, but even better because they weren't overly sweet! 3. Shortbread sandwich: that's what I'm calling this treat, because it had two sun/star-shaped cookies with a layer of jam in between. The two elements were perfectly balanced! 4. Assorted shortbread: if I remember correctly, the flavours were lime and cardamom. Both were good, but not my favourites in this dessert box. 5. Heaven shortbread: definitely lived up to its name. Out of all the shortbread cookies, this one was the most buttery. 6. Apricot pistachio cookies: these were my favourite cookies. The apricot jam was sweet and tart, and the pistachios on top added a bit of texture contrast, which I always appreciate. 7. Baklava: I've seriously been missing out on good baklava until now. Despite the stickiness, it wasn't too sweet. And the mixed nut filling was sooooo good. The spices mixed in made this treat even more craveable! 8. Coconut macaroons: didn't even make it out of the parking lot before devouring these, lol. The macaroons were golden on the outside, moist and chewy inside, and the layer of cream sandwiched in between was light and airy. The perfect bite! Kourosh has become a go-to spot whenever my family has a sweet craving. Service is always super friendly and everything is very affordable. Thank you Kourosh! read more

After hiking the Lynn Valley Peak, we were ready to reward ourselves with some Iranian/Persian goodies. Kourosh Bakery is located in Lynn Valley Mall which also houses their grocery store (Super Koroush). We dropped in on a Saturday afternoon (around 4:00pm) to grab some sweets to take home. They usually offer samples but not during the pandemic. Their display cases had a variety of cakes, cookies, baklava and goodies. All sold by the weight ($9.99/lb). - Box ($10.00 for 10) - we opted for the coconut macaroons, walnut cookies, pistachio apricot, wild pistachio blueberries, apple filling and three pieces of baklava (cashew cinnamon, phyllo walnut and mixed nuts). The coconut macaroons and walnut cookies were similar in texture; soft and delightfully chewy. The pistachio apricot reminds me of my childhood (eating those Linzer cookies). We didn't love the apple filling or pistachio blueberry; more of a dry texture and it needed more filling. Baklava wasn't too sweet. Come for those deliciously soft and chewy macaroons! 3.5 stars. read more

My husband and I stopped in for a quick dessert and the owners were absolutely lovely. She gave us a few samples and we fell in love with the delicious treats! We purchased only a few cookies--they were soft, flavorful, and reasonably priced. We enjoyed it so much we returned the very next day to purchase a few more. The business was very clean, and there was a wide selection of sweets. Service was also very good. There was not any bread unfortunately, but fundamentally just sweets. The little donuts in sweet syrup with rose water were the best item I tried. Other items were not as interesting. One of the baklava was a little too dried out in parts and the flavor just wasn't as good as others I have tried at other venues recently. They had a saffron rose ice cream in their freezer that was decent, but it was pricey and seemingly needed more pistachios. It was less wow than others I have tried before. That being said, it is a unique business and interesting to at least try out. While I would not rush to go back, I may try it again some day. read more

Delicious!! What a great sweet bakery tucked in a corner of an old strip mall. I read several great reviews about this bakery and I had to check it out when I was in the neighbourhood. The salesperson was super friendly and asked me if I had been in the store before. When I said "no", she started giving samples of several items and they were all delicious. My favourites are coconut macaroon, apple cake and cream puff. They sell cookies by weight, but you can also get 12 cookies for a dozen. read more

Such a fantastic bakery in the heart of Lynn Valley! The minute I walked in the owner greeted me with DELICIOUS samples of their apple pastry, along with several other items. It was my first time in the store and she was so friendly and guided me through all their different treats (all of which looked heavenly btw!) And answered all my questions. I eventually opted for the tuxedo cake. It was incredible! The sweetness of the cream layers balanced perfectly with the light and fluffy cake layers. All their items are extremely well priced. Best of all, everything is made from scratch right there in the bakery! I had the opportunity to sample several of their items, and it was clear that they use high quality ingredients! (Not tasting like a pile of sugar, like most bakeries!). The orange cake tasted like actual orange, the apple had real delicious apple chunks, the coconut macaroon tasted like actual coconut. All the flavours were perfectly balanced! They also sell a variety of bulk nuts - which made my week day meal prepping healthy self very happy! Overall I give this bakery 5 bright and shiny stars! Drool worthy treats with fantastic flavours to satisfy any craving you might have! And the service was beyond outstanding!I will DEFINITELY be back for more of their apple pastry! I went there for the first time to get some pastries. I looked at the prices and they were very expensive compared to the other persian bakeries... which i commented on ... and the owner laughed about it and assured me that It's because they use the best products... and everything is fresh.She was very pushy and kept trying to get me to buy more sweets... She also told me that they charge per pound not each which is what it said on the pastries... So I ordered 6 cream puffs (noone khamei) which were $2.69/each ... I got a small box that contained 6 cream puffs... It came to $14. I was so shocked as she lied to me obviously it wasn't per pound ... I figured since she already put them in a box and everything I would just try them... I ate ONE bite of one of the cream puffs ( noone khamei)... The cream inside was sour and I guess it was sitting in their fridge for days because the actual pastry was so soggy... I was so disappointed that I threw the whole box of them in the garbage... I don't recommenced anybody to go here. read more
