I just want to give a great review for Kovac Automotive and how customer driven they are. Daughter is a student at NSU and her Jeep had a flat tire. We are from Chicago and they were kind enough to keep her vehicle there until I was able to send them lug nut key. They were very pleasant to work with over the phone and were able to get my daughter tire fixed as well as an oil change. Daughters friend picked up her vehicle without any issues and was on her way. Being a parent and not always there it's nice to know Kovac team was there with great customer service and if any student is looking for a fair and honest mechanic I highly recommend them. My husband contacted this business via telephone regarding getting the sunroof of our vehicle fixed. The Representative on the phone stated to him to bring the vehicle so they can inspect it. At no point did they tell him it will be a diagnostic fee added if nothing was done. Places normally do that but then transfer that fee towards to final bill which is understandable. My husband brings the vehicle to this location and 2 hours later, my husband was told that the technician who handles this type of job is a 3rd party vendor. The minimum charge will be $400. My husband stated to them well how much does it cost to fix and no price could be given since the technician never inspected the vehicle to be able to diagnose the issue. After a brief discussion of what it may or may not cost, my husband was charged a diagnostic fee. No one inspected the vehicle so what did you diagnose? We already knew the sunroof was inoperable before we came there. When my husband question this fee they gave him the run around about why he was charged that all the while the vehicle never moved from the spot her parked it in. The 3rd party tech never came to the location to even check what was wrong with the sunroof. Needless to say he was charged for a diagnostic fee for a sunroof we already knew wasn't working to still not know what is wrong with it or how much it will cost to fix. After seeing my husband visibly annoyed about the fee they then tried to offer a discounted fee to which my husband stated it's not about the fee it's about how you handle business....Fair warning you have been warned!!! They got the car fixed in a day and then got it in and out the next day when it turned out the o2 sensors were stolen too. They had fair prices which is great as a student. Waited another 30 minutes for them to find my bill. I was already late for work. They wanted $40 for an air filter. All I wanted was to release my car from hostage. I went in for a tire rotation and oil change. They definitely did the oil change but i'm convinced they didn't do the tire rotation. As I left my car there, I looked at my tire pressure to see what I left it at. Originally, they told me it'd be about 2.5 hours & when I called to see if it was done 3 hrs later, they told me that they weren't able to get it done that day, so it'll be done first thing in the morning the next day. they said it would be done by 10am. I got there at about 10:05am, and the first thing they said to me, without even saying hi, is "did they call you to pick up your car?" My response was respectful, simply saying that whoever i talked to in the phone the night before, said it'd be ready by 10am. He disappeared for 15 minutes, and then came back to give me my key. I went out to my car to find that my tires were in the same state as i left them. tire pressure the same, and everything. well normally when i go get a tire rotation they fill up the tires too, so that's why i'm convinced they didn't do what i asked & payed for. I went back in and simply asked if they did the tire rotation and they said yes. I said well my tires are at the same pressure as they were when i left it. He told me to pull to the bay so they could fill them. After sitting there for 10 minutes someone came to my window and asked what they could do for me. At this point, i was pissed cause not only didn't they not communicate with each other, but I've been there for way longer than it should've been. they filled my tires but it took forever. It's like it was there first days in the job and nobody knew what they were doing... VERY DISAPPOINTING. read more

This is my second review with Kovac Automotive concerning their service. The last time i was in with my daughter's car I asked them for an oil change and tire rotation. I had a sneaky suspicion that the tire rotation was not completed but I had no real proof. Today, months later, I went back with my truck and specifically asked them to rotate my tires, change my oil and filter and top off the fluids. But this time I marked my rims. When I got my truck back I noticed that they had NOT rotated my tires. I mentioned this to the manager and his response was that they always put rotate tires on the work order with an oil change, and that if it didn't need it, they would not do it and would call me to mention that fact. First off, I specifically asked them to do the rotation because I have them on a schedule. Second, the work order has a separate line item for the rotation from the oil change so that makes no sense to me that they couple it with the oil change. What would happen if I only asked for an oil change? Would they still put rotate tires on there as well?? I've been in this area of Davie/Plantation for over 40 years and always want to give my local store owners business staying within the community. But now, since I've confirmed that they are not doing the job asked of them I will not be returning for service there with any of my cars in the future because I just can't trust them. How do i know that they even changed my oil filter and not just the oil??? read more

I brought my car back to Kovac for an alignment since i had a good experience the first time i was there. After leaving my keys with the employees, i waited outside for my ride to pick me up. Once i was picked up, I heard my car zooming around the area. We quickly followed my car back to Kovac and confronted the employee. We were told he needed to drive it to check the alignment which is true.... but he did not need to be speeding around in my sports car. I haven't gone to Kovac for a few years. When I took my car in this morning, I learned very quickly that I was thankful for that. I walked in about 2 mins before 7a, as the door was unlocked and open. The gentleman, Shawn, made eye contact with me. Without a "hello," "good morning," or "I'll be right with you," he continued his way out to the garage area carrying a coffee pot filled with water. It was during this time, waiting for Shawn to return, that I heard heavy breathing, a man moaning, and what sounded like the rattle of a belt buckle. Both the restroom and office doors were closed and I could still hear these noises distinctly. As Shawn returned, still without a "hello," "good morning," or "how can I help you?," until I addressed him, I told him of what I heard going on behind one of the closed doors and he did not even acknowledge what I had said. Instead, we both stood there listening to the heavy breathing, moaning, and the rattle of a belt buckle as he got my information and took my car keys. Shawn was very dry. Very short. Lacked any sort of customer service skills whatsoever. During our telephone interactions, I received the same from him. It would have been easier to pull my hair out strand by strand than it was to get any information from him. Nothing was different when I went back in to pick up my car, except the fact, the gentleman behind the restroom or office door learned how to be quiet or was no longer there. Shawn was still the same dry and short person he was in the morning. He did not even direct me to where my car was as he gave me back my keys, so I was left to wander around the parking lot until I located it. I don't understand how this company has a 3.5 star rating. They provide excellent service. My experience with them was exceptional. They accept MaxCare warranty and are better than going to the dealership. I brought my 2013 Hyundai Sonata in for service. Vinnie and Joey were attentive and stayed in contact. The customer service ladies were very nice and helpful. All of the staff were very kind, polite and treated me like person, not just number. Their waiting area is top notch with massage chairs, magazines, coffee, water and soda. read more

Seriously??? 1. Why was there SILENCE when I asked Rick why he did this on our phone conversation? Seasoned salespeople are honest with customers and can easily tell customers "a third party fell through, there is a backorder, we don't have it, etc." You catch the business the next time because you were honest and up front and move onto the next person that you can help/sell. 2. He wasn't calling me back to tell me Not to leave my truck as it was quite apparent in our conversation that HE DIDN'T HAVE THE PART! Duh. His voicemail message was of excitement and to call him back asap, meaning he had located the part. 3. After telling my boyfriend what happened (he felt terrible for being the one to recommend me here) he told me that I drew the short straw and that Rick is the weak link at your shop. My boyfriend works at the large medical sales company down the street where his co-workers all talk amongst themselves. So it seems like I'm not the only person who has had issues with this employee. Great coupons available for semi synthetic oil change which includes tire rotation. My first time there they forgot to rotate the tires. After I pointed it out to the tech it was corrected immediately. Second time I went the service was beyond my expectations. I ordered a tire and had it installed. They put my spare and jack away which was not the expected. Convenient early drop off and pick up made it easy. Paid over the phone too. Please keep up the good work. I received a text asking me to leave them a review, so I thought I might as well share my experience. One night after work, my car wouldn't start. My boss told me he was friends with the owner of Kovac automotive, and that he would help get me in contact with the shop. We called the shop and talked to someone working there about getting my car towed to the shop for free, like my boss had been told. The number the shop gave me sent me to a company in Tacoma, Washington. So I went into the store and talked to Omar, a manager at the store, and he said he could help me out with that and gave me a new number to call. The company I was given was great (Monster Towing) and they were extremely helpful. But the tow ended up costing $125, not included with the cost of fixing my car like I was originally told when I first called. They then told me that my car needed a new starter. They also tried to sell me new brake pads and were trying to charge me over $1400 plus towing for a starter and break pads. Which is ridiculous. They told me to put the starter in it would only take an hour and they would charge me $800 plus towing for only the starter itself. It would have been cheaper for me to get my car towed to another shop than to get the job done at Kovac. After talking to multiple people who were unable to help me, one of the employees got the price down to $700 including towing. But, I was repeatedly told the price couldn't be lower by other employees, and I even asked them if I could bring in my own part and just pay them for the installation, and they couldn't give me a straight answer. The service I received was subpar and shady. The car is working fine now, and the quality of repair was fine. But the customer service and price gouging they do to their customers is insanely shameful. I would go somewhere else, I have had better experiences at TiresPlus, which should not be the case. I am leaving 2 stars, because at least my car is fixed, but that's about all I can say for this shop. read more

I had read many great reviews on the Nextdoor App. but since I didn't live close to Kovac Davie, I hadn't tried them. They were recommended to me by a body shop in the area and while I was there I stopped by. I had a warning light that had been on and thought I needed a new tire sensor. They quoted me a very good price and I left my car with them. They called the next day and said the sensor was good and they had checked out the entire system and everything was now working fine. I went to pick the car up and they handed me my invoice that showed nothing owed. I couldn't believe it! I even told them I wanted to pay something because I know they spent some time working on it. They refused. I was told that is the way they do business and hoped I would return. I will definitely use them from now on for all my automotive needs! read more

Have been going there for years, never an issue. This time was told an hour and a half... two hours later my car hadn't even been pulled in. When i questioned, they said "we thought you were dropping off" but it's next. Hour later no movement still, i asked for my keys back and they said they were pulling in. Silly me, i decided to wait. I was there for an oil change and a tire balance. When they pulled car back around front , I asked the technician if they had done the balance. His comment "if you wanna rush us, were not doing that" absolutely will never step foot in there again and will advise all to find another shop. This team, especially Rick, and Christie got me through a lot of car troubles in 2015. They are my number one go-2-guys (gal). I trust them so much with my new Toyota Highlander that I would drive it from Homestead, FL to them whenever it was time for an oil change/ checkup. They are worth it. They are above all else, honest and treat you like family. My fur child Cody, the border collie even felt like home when he came to visit. Their service is outstanding, they break it all down for you. They are accommodating and try their best to get you out as soon as possible. I had high hopes for this shop but now I am very disappointed. 30k service on 2016 Lexus NX200t. Oil+filter, engine air filter, cabin filter, break fluid change, tire rotation, basic visual inspection . Quoted $200. Fair price. Unfortunately only the oil change was done and the tire rotation and both badly. Oil was over a half court by the factory standard and they put the worn tires in the front the good ones in the back.... When I asked the adviser why the other works weren't done he said it was not needed. So I basically I had a not too professional but very expensive oil change and tire rotation. These guys are honest about everything and always nice when I go there! *** I use to go car repair shop hopping, to make sure I get the lowest prices possible. These guys at Kovac ALWAYS tell me to bring the car in, and more then once told me I didn't need as much work as other's shops told me I needed! This is a several years late review (sorry, I've moved away from the area). Rick-fantastic and superb employee. He's knowledgeable, friendly and courteous. My main mechanic was Dave with the ponytail. He was extremely professional and gifted as a mechanic. Dave fixed some complicated repairs that incompetent non-professionals messed up and thought they could fix. As a woman who has been taken advantage of and ripped off by other places where I have brought my vehicles to, this NEVER happened to me at Kovac. I was always treated respectfully, they let me watch my car being repaired when I wanted to and had questions (I stayed out of the way). They never manufactured repairs to keep me in a constant repair loop (a sad and costly place to be). A better- late- than- never review and if I still lived in Davie, Kovac would still be the only place I would trust for my car maintenance and repairs. I have used Kovac many times over the last few years for tires and basic maintenance on my vehicles. Four months ago, I took my car in for an oil change and tire rotation and told them to closely inspect all the tires because one felt out of balance at highway speed. They performed the service and told me that the tires just needed to be rebalanced, problem solved. Last month, I brought my car in again for an oil change and tire rotation and again asked them to inspect the tires and ensure that all were properly balanced. I drive a lot, about 30k miles per year, so I am persistent with tire rotation and proper inflation and I notice when something doesn't feel "right". The day after the service I called them to say one of the tires still doesn't feel right, feels out of balance. They told me a tire weight may have fallen off and to bring it back to them when I could. So now, three visits to Kovac for oil changes and tire rotations and finally to look at their previous work, each time with the same request, "closely inspect the tires and ensure that they are properly balanced and inflated". They tell me that the tires are fine, just had a weight fall off, and now should ride smooth as silk. The next morning, on the highway, again with the shimmy and tire bounce, this time I take it to Arnst Motors in Pompano. They put it up on the rack and in less than two minutes call em over to see the problem; tread separation and a 2" x 3" section of tread missing from the inner third of the tire. A tire that could have suffered a catastrophic failure at any moment! i drive my family in this car! They are Goodyear Eagle LSC's on a 2012 car with 31k miles. It seems that Kovac was either too lazy to actually inspect the tires as requested, or chose to ignore the issue because they did not want to deal with warrantying the tire. I sincerely hope it was just laziness. Either way, I will not go back there and I highly suggest that those who continue to frequent this establishment pay careful attention to what they do and DON'T DO.... read more

The best place in Broward county to get work done on your car! Automotive repair shops are becoming like fast food restaurants, their on nearly every corner. They vary greatly in friendliness, quality and services preformed. Except for Kovac, they seem to have it figured out and be "hitting on all cylinders" no pun intended. Joe the owner, actively works the business and makes sure your car is properly repaired in a timely manner and at a fair price. They accept appointments and I definitely recommend making one because this shop stays busy. The staff and technicians are all top notch and go out of their way to provide a comfortable and first class experience. They have a comfortable customer lounge to hang out while you're car is being taken care of. There's a massage chair, that's right, a nice TV and free Wi-Fi and coffee. What else could you need? Their also a Goodyear dealer which means you're repairs are protected by the nationwide warranty at any authorized Goodyear store so there's peace of mind when you travel. Beware of Kovac !! I've been going to Kovac for an oil change and filter for the last several years. The LAST time I went asked them to add fluid to the power steering reservoir since I noticed it was low.When it cam time to pay the bill I was told I needed a front assembly replacement(rack & pinon) due to the fact it was leaking. I was given an estimate for the 9rack & pinon) of $605 NAPA part 262606 and labor of $468. checked on the internet at NAPA for the same item and stock no.262606 for $325. went to a gentleman who has been in the auto front end business for over 30 years. was told told the (rack & pinon) was fine and did not needed to be replaced. Just how stupid did they think i was? bye the way, the tires will filled to 37 psi each. 29 psi is recommended and oil was overfilled by 1 in. above full mark on the stick. Shoddy and shady work ?
