Oh my goodness! Where do I begin?! I absolutely love this place! For starters, it's like a club in here. We all had a great time dancing and vibing to the music. It's decorated so beautiful and it's really huge inside. They have a lounge as well as an upstairs area where I'm assuming, based on signs I saw, host shows and venues. Now, on to the food. We were originally suppose to go somewhere else but I am so happy that we came here instead. Let me just mention, I'm from New York City so my expectations were kind of low because we have some of THE BEST Asian food restaurants. Boy was I shocked. The food here was DELICIOUS! We ordered the special fried rice which came with a bunch of meats - roast pork, ham, shrimp and the special lo mein which came with the same meats. (I will say the fried rice was made with white rice so it was kind of on the white side still. That was fine, I threw some soy sauce in it and it was yummy. ) We also ordered a wonton soup (it was different but good) and beef & broccoli extra sauce- so good! The sauce was nice and thick. Not oily or watery like some places. The only thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the "Scallion pie" or scallion pancakes as we call them in NYC. The server was a very nice man who told us the restaurant has been around for 75 years- I can tell why! The sushi was not wrapped tight enough and fell apart and the scorpion bowl was awful. We would try to place an order, get two items in and he would take off. The food was extremely fast, like made before we pulled in the parking lot fast. The four top tables are most restaurants two tops. They keep the lights very dim so you don't notice how old everything is. I wouldn't bring a date here. Normally like Kowloon, the drinks are good but on recent visit I didn't enjoy the food and the prices are on the steep side, we ordered lemon chicken, the house fried rice, egg rolls and crab Rangoon; my sis wanted the house fried rice, I didn't like it had ham which looked like lunch meat ham, normally I ask what's in house rice t if they say ham I normally will get another rice or say no ham (for protein I believe it only had shrimp and the ham, a good house fried rice usually has chicken, pork, beef and shrimp), the egg rolls while decent they had an odd bitter taste and served cut, I know they do this w/pupu platters but I did not like that it was cut, maybe ask I like my egg roll whole, I only cut it in half if I'm eating half and saving the other half for leftovers), I only had one crab Rangoon, I've had better and the lemon chicken was ok (to me they should be smaller pieces like general gau's, they were more like tenders sized. I also don't like that they don't offer combination plates or that the pu pu platters don't have certain items, they're conducted so you pay more for certain items like beef teriyaki. The egg rolls and crab Rangoon were about $15 which is a ridiculous price for two egg rolls. I likely will not return or if I do it will only be for drinks. read more

This place is a nostalgic staple on the north shore and we always make a habit of stopping by when heading to see family. The ambiance is what makes this place so unique and special - you're so excited to see what room you'll be seated in. Service is efficient and the food comes out quick. No meal would be complete without the duck sauce and spicy mustard cups. The crab rangoons are our favorite app and the beef teriyaki is delicious, but if you have a big group, the flaming pu pu platter is a must. This trip, we went with the lemon chicken, which had great flavor, but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Beware: a side of white rice is $5.50. We finally got in the good dining room with all the lights and she wanted to sit us where we could see all the action but we were nowhere near the action anyways so there was that. I'm sorry to say that the restaurant was nothing like I thought it was going to be. It was so noisy. I could not hear a single thing from the person next to me at the table. Also, when the food finally did come out, it was only lukewarm you can see from the pictures that the egg foo young. The gravy was solid OK like it was just sitting there for a long time before it was brought out to us when I did finally take it out of dish to put it in a takeout container cause I was gonna take it home. I saw the grease that was floating in the bottom of the Egg foo young dish, which was pretty gross. Fried rice was not that great. It was warm, but it was not hot like it should've been. It was a little on the dry side. I was kind of disappointed. We did end up ordering chicken fingers, but they end up looking more like Chicken and chicken pieces it wasn't like a chicken. It was kind of like bent and messed up and the breading was very soggy. It wasn't crunchy like you normally would expect a chicken finger to be when the server asked me was not that great the food was not hot. It was warm. He's like oh I'm sorry and this that which is great but it's not his fault. That's the fault of the kitchen as you can see from the pictures, everything looks beautiful, but as I said, the gravy on the egg foo young was just jelled . It wasn't loose or anything when that's normally how it would look. A place that lives up to its hype! I've never experienced an ambiance like Kowloon before. Dimmed lighting, festive decor, "boat" seating...it all adds to a very unique experience! Good for small and large groups and even a date night. The service was noticeably great. The food came out pretty quickly despite how packed it was on a Saturday night. Plenty of food to choose from. I flew in from San Francisco and came here first. The ambiance is like like Trader Vic's had a love child with the Tonga Room SF and the Mai Kai, FL. It's amazing, old & vintage, decorated wall to wall. The drinks... you're not gonna get that modern tiki mixology here but trust me, accept the drinks as old school resort style interpretations of your favorite classics like the Mai Tai & navy grog, and you'll be in for a real treat. The food... amazing, some of the best Chinese and Asian fusion I've ever had in my life, hands down, and I'm coming from San Francisco too so that means a lot. I stopped at Kowloon a couple of nights ago to order takeout. As a customer of many decades I had my usual expectations. Unfortunately this proved to be a very disappointing experience. First of all when the food comes out within 5 minutes of ordering you have to wonder about freshness even with their high volume of food prep The food was lukewarm and the boneless spare ribs were a container of brown lumps....so unappetizing that we did not even eat more than the initial taste. Had dinner at The Kowloon for the first time last night. Drove an hour because of its popularity. Unfortunately, it was all hype. I ordered the Chinese vegetable soup in a clear broth. The broth had absolutely no flavor. It could have been just water, that's how bland it tasted.
