First time eating here at our first ever Yelp Elite event... Loved it. Koze Teppan is a nice, trendy/modern japanese teppanyaki style restaurant. The decor is legit, location isn't bad (not hard to find) and the food is great. We had some sushi rolls and tempura shared by the table. Very good. My wife had the filet mingon and shrimp. The filet was delicious, cooked perfectly. I had ordered the New York steak and chicken, and my chicken was delicious. I also ordered the salmon nigiri (traditional sushi) and loved it. Actually had two orders.. Didn't share it lol. They had bottles of japanese beer, Asahi, Kirin and Sapporro. My wife loves that... She had a Sapporo. The dinners came with fried rice and soup and salad. All were really good. Desert: get it. I ordered the koze cheesecake and my wife had the tempura ice cream. Both were great! The cheesecake is a normal slice, presented well, and the tempura ice cream is large enough to share! Absolutely recommend it. Prices are very fair. Pretty much no more and no less than any Teppanyaki style place. Which is of course where your food is cooked at the table in front of you on a late grill. The chef, in normal fashion, put on a show, which included flipping food from the grill into the guests mouth. Everyone nailed it, except me, that took 2 try's... In my defense the first shot hit my shoulder lol. 2nd flip, dead on. It's a very nice place and a great place to go with friends. Food is good, atmosphere is fun and casual. As with most teppanyaki places, the food for most tables is prepared right in front of you, so understand that when you leave, you're gonna smell like everything you just ate. So don't go here if right after eating you're going to be working alongside others in a confined area. Otherwise... Please check it out. Enjoy. Eat. This is one of those hidden gems in El Paso. We wanted to sit at the grill but didn't have the time so we sat in the dining room and were served by Andrea. She was the best server we've had in the 18 months we've been in El Paso! The food came out quick and tasted amazing. We ordered the Hawaiian Playboy(highly recommend it), the avocado rolls, and the chicken entree. The egg rolls came with this really yummy, fun spicy dip. The Miso soup tastes so good and makes me feel all warm and cozy (Koze) inside. We will definitely come back with a little more time to sit at the grill. Starting with the clownish looking hostess, I knew immediately I was in for a great disappointment. Tables were dirty. Not properly staffed. Food was below average. $40.00 for a small portion of filet mignon is ridiculous and the fried rice was disgusting drenched in teriyaki sauce. Chicken was over cooked also covered in teriyaki sauce. Horrible experience! we went out for dining we definitely choose the wrong restaurant, the hostess was all confused and said it was a 45 minute wait.. well over half an hour after we asked for a status only to find out that she had screw it yo and now it was going to take a Hour more, she did not care about us waiting and with kids, manager came over and ask us to wait 15 minutes so he can sit us, 20 minutes went by so we decide to leave. Worst spot in town. One star is too high a rating. I had heard bad things but wanted to check it out myself. Service was absolutely terrible. Didn't get drinks for 15 minutes and it was not a busy day. Waitor was rude, messed up our order and forgot to bring us utensils. Had to tell him to wipe the table down it was so bad that we had to move tables. This is only the beginning. Restrooms looked like they hadn't been cleaned in months. Koze Teppan is the bees-knees!! I really enjoyed my first experience here. Came here for dinner on my birthday and was extremely satisfied. For a hibachi restaurant the price isn't bad for the quality of the food. I had the chicken and shrimp and I really liked the flavors and the size of the shrimp. The rice was flavored well, and their dipping sauces have good flavor also. I just wish the iceberg salad wasn't so cold when it came out, I could taste the ice on it and there wasn't much salad dressing on the salad. I REALLY love ginger salad dressing, so I was a little bummed about that. My husband ordered the steak and shrimp and it was very well cooked but there was a lot of fat on the steak also. On to the show!! Our chef this day was Bama. He was very nice, very talkative and showed off his skills. We were lucky enough to have a whole table to ourselves, and he still put on a nice show despite that there weren't more people around. This place is right up the street from where I live and I had never been here before until my husband took me. The waitress was nice and good at her job, the service was also quick. My husband got the chicken fried rice which was good and I got the black dragon roll that was very good! They made it look like a dragon and it even had a flower on the side very fun! There were 8pieces that were good sized so it was more than plenty to eat. I also got the lava cake which was the perfect blend of chocolate and rasberry, warm and gooey with it having fudge inside I added ice cream and it was delicious. Since the service was good and the food we might end up bringing our boys here to see the train and volcano. I recommend this place to eat for sure! read more

I believe I've found a great japanese place! A friend wanted me to try this place out and I was very impressed. The interior is gorgeous btw. Very modern and simple. It's a good place for family get together and/or date night. Warning, it does get super crowded. Most of the time, the bar area is open and it isn't bad to sit near the chefs. They're really friendly and funny. I believe it's great to see how your sushi is made. They're quick and presentation of food is... wow. I'm not sure what kind of dish it was, but they're fancy boat dish was amazing lol. Anyways, there appetizer was a good size and tasty. Their sushi is awesome! And their soju is delicious. :) it was a wait for our food to come out, but when they did it wasn't cold. It took awhile since there was a line. Our waitress was knowledgeable and very courteous. The owner of the place was really nice too. He went around to greet his customer and always checked in with his workers. I went to this place for lunch and was the only person in the dining room. 30min after my order, I got the entree, then the appetizer. There was a lot of food, and it tasted okay. I left and immediately had diarrhea at a gas station, then at a burger place on the way home, then at home had diarrhea until I bled. When the diarrhea was over I slept for three hours, exhausted. When I woke I had more diarrhea. I don't know why I had diarrhea, but it clearly had something to do with Koze. read more

Great service and good food at the grill, we were promptly seated after a couple minutes. (We reserved) sushi is pretty good as well. Though the special rolls are $12 plus they are pretty large and twice the size of the $5 rolls. The steak was cooked perfectly and the fried rice was excellent as well. Loved the pot stickers (so much yummy cheese). It is a good atmosphere and our waitress was on point even with all of the various group demenads. If you have 5 or more they will add a group gratuity. This restaurant has a great selection and is good whether or not you eat a healthy life style. I've been eating very healthy the last month and it's very arduous to eat out healthily. At this place, it's not difficult at all. I ordered the Poke Salad with Hawaiian style marinated ahi tuna, a bed of baby spring mix, seaweed salad and fried wonton chips $12.00. The quantity is good as is the quality for all meals I've had this far. I haven't had Poke Salad since I've parted from Hawaii. Next was the Grilled Chicken $20.00 which was great in a spicy teriyaki sauce. I also ordered one of the Chef's Special Rolls. The OMG roll in particular for $18.95. It includes whole soft shell crab, spicy tuna, crab mix, fresh tuna, avocado, tobiko & ponzu sauce. I didn't have room for dessert this time around not to mention the healthy eating preventing the dessert options. Even the sushi rolls are well portioned. I only wish they had a happy hour of some sort like half off the rolls like Ra does. I believe they'd attract more potential customers and can guarantee more regulars to include myself coming more often. Because $19 a roll can be a little steep. Not all of them are that price. Not worth $30 for plate of steak/chicken teriyaki that is not properly cooked with teriyaki sauce. Something was wrong w the miso soup too bc it tasted odd and unlike miso soup. The great thing about Teppan restaurants is that they help you save money on dates because the dinner is also the show, and Koze Teppan Grill is a great place to conduct your dinner/show dates: it's got an modern atmosphere that isn't too stuffy, and the food is pretty good. It's also great for group celebrations like birthdays and such. Food is good, I ordered the New York steak and shrimp and was delighted by the size of the shrimp. There's also these cheese dumplings that were mighty yummy. You won't see any new tricks, but they do let many people try to catch food and the onion volcano is always fun to watch. Had I rated koze when it first opened it wouldve easily been a 4.5 out 5 rating. Food was top notch. I recently went before all this covid crap and let me tell ya nothing hurts the wallet or the heart more than when u show up starving, order steak with lobster tail and yet still leave the place starving cause u left it all on the plate. My daughter and Grand kids came into town and we wanted to take them somewhere nice for dinner last night. We called Koze and asked for reservations. They did not have sitting at the grill but had tables available. We made a reservation. They sat us at a table next to an emergency exit door. The Texas sun was cooking half the table. We asked for a different table, the waiter stated he would ask the host. Another party sat down next to us, Texas sun cooking them, they asked to move and were being moved to the table we requested! What the %^$#@#! My daughter spoke up and we were moved to the requested table. Placed order. 1 hour later no food and the waiter stated not only had they lost the ticket, he couldn't remember our order. Placed order again as he assured us our order would be first out. Another 20 minutes and no food. I cancelled the order, asked for the check, our family left. I have had bad experiences before but the Manager always made it right or even took care of the bill! The food was good. The cook we had was okay for the most part he just cooked without saying much to the group lol...The other cooks around us def had their tables entertained.
