I learned that not all kozo sushi's are created equally, this not being a better location. Learned the locations are franchised and luckily this is a stand alone location. First started off with calling and ordering a fried chicken Bento, but this location doesn't have it(at least two other locations do), instead of telling me they don't have it, she corrects me and ask if I meant the garlic chicken bento. This bento is then small than other locations and $2+ more. So for less food for more. There was also quite a bit of fat on the chicken itself. I would recommend other locations over this for customer service, parking, food quality, better deal. Pros: they have a reward program

Ordered via Doordash and the food came pretty quickly between ordering and the driver picking it up. The food is reasonably priced for what you're getting, which is decent sushi. I would love to come back to try their rolls as well.

Always happy with Kozo Sushi Kapahulu. Everything I tasted yet was sooo delicious . Employees super nice!Thank you!

Fast food sushi... That doesn't make it any less delicious though how the expanded their menu is quite amazing. I remember way back in the day that my parents would order sushi for not just the New Years gathering but any with their friends and order a platter of sushi that was always done beautifully. What I do love that everything is made to order as many places may do so but do have some items grab and go but not here it's all made to order but doesn't mean that you'd wait forever for it as they do work efficiently the problem is for you to decide what you want is easier said than done with so many options but my favorite are the hand rolls since the completion isn't done until you unravel the nori from the wrapper so it's always nice and crunchy. Love this Kapahulu location with decent amount of free parking it shares with a few other biz which can get crowded but the option to have it is nice and convenient along with a quick stop at Jamba or Starbucks lol! The staff here is very nice as we had a nice conversation about Japan her dream destination there isn't seating in the very tiny and cozy shop but do have some tables outside which are usually taken by regulars so it's more of a stop and shop location. Thank you!

I recently had a potluck to attend and decided that a sushi platter would be perfect! I looked at Yelp reviews and chose the Kozo Sushi at this location. I was not disappointed. I called my order in and the young woman I spoke to was friendly and helpful. My Sushi Platter was ready for pickup on time. Chopsticks, Napkins and Shoyu was available if needed. Everything was packaged and presented very nicely. The assorted Sushi was fresh and delicious. It was also affordable and well worth it! At the potluck, the Sushi I brought was the first to be eaten up. I will definitely be back to get Sushi and highly recommended this Kozo Sushi location.

Online Happy hour ad

I'm usually happy with Kozo Sushi kapahulu but I guess they don't honor their ads for happy hour. It said that the happy hour pricing was 20% off AND buy 3 get 1 free hand roll. When we get there to pay, they say it's one or the other, then fix your ad since it's posted online and says double but is misspelled.

Hand rolls. Crab cucumber is my fave.

Nestled next to Starbucks it is not clearly visible from the street. I usually go to the one in kahala. This one has way more parking and much friendlier service. I came around 4:45 and to my surprise it was happy hour hand rolls. Buy 3 get 1 free! I was delighted to hear it, love a good deal. Now that I know this I will be coming back again. I got 3 crab cucumber rolls a Natto roll. All were perfect. Lots of pictures of the different menu items so it's easy for you to see what you are getting and good for kids too. Seating area outside is a bit unkept and could use a power wash but that's on building management. I took mine to the park and ate it. Will be back for some more happy hour hand rolls.

They gave me cut spam not warmed up and no sauce. Def go to another Kozo if possible for spam roll.

Def go to another location for spam roll. They took away the sauce and it's just raw spam inside. If you like that go for it. If not gotta go somewhere else. I asked if that's normal and the main guy there said yes. I didn't want that again so I left. No money back offer.

I ordered from Uber Eats, and I have to say it was tasty. I got the Tsunami Maki, Spicy Ahi Maki, Ahi and Salmon Nigiri, garlic soybeans, miso soup and gyoza. Everything was fresh and good. The garlic soybeans were just a little salty but not enough to make me stop eating them. I will be ordering again!

Update on this Kozo Sushi located on Kapahuluu next to Starbucks. I'm not sure if this location is franchise but it's totally different feel from other other 2 location I normally go to. For example they just give your sushi as is. They charge for a bag like a grocery store lol. The King st and the Kahala location at least put your hand roll or maki sushi in a plastic bag free of charge . Also this location is high tech their menu board is all digital and it's hard to read. Also they have a computer so you can put in your order and pay by a card so you don't have to wait for a counter person . It's totally different from the other Kozo sushi . Plus the person at the counter made a mistake on my order . I'll probably not return to this particular Kozo sushi in the future. I will definitely go to my usual Kozo location. Support local be safe

Ahi Lovers set
Cymry P.

The worker in the front had the best customer service (09/21/23 @ around 2pm)! she was so sweet and attentive and just for that, i will definitely be coming back again. i ordered the ahi lovers set and a habanero hand roll. for both the total came out to about $18 + a few cents for the paper bag. which isn't bad at all, considering sushi at safeway and food land can cost the same if not more. the sushi was great especially for the price, habanero roll wasn't that spicy but my spice tolerance is very high lol. interior was well kept and the vibe of the place was relaxed.

It tastes good, but I personally didn't want so much. They also unexpectedly put some mayo on the hamachi nigiri pieces. I would have preferred it plain. There are meals one enjoys. Meals one admires. Meals one respectfully documents, notes the flavor balance of, and later describes using words like "elegant" and "well-executed." And then there are meals that rock your world. This was one of them. Kaiten sushi, or conveyor belt sushi, is a casual, affordable Japanese dining style invented in 1958 where plates of sushi rotate on a motorized belt passing diners, allowing them to select dishes directly. Here at Kaiten Sushi Ginza Onodera, it's not the typical catwalk of pre-made maki rolls, nigiri, and other offering. You order off a kiosk and then it is fast-tracked to your table via sushi belt. Here at Kaiten Sushi Ginza Onodera, you are granted the ability to try their Edomae-style sushi for a more affordable price. Edomae-style sushi is a traditional Tokyo cuisine originating in the 1820s, featuring seafood, often cured, marinated, or simmered, served atop rice seasoned with red vinegar (akasu). It focuses on enhancing fish flavor through technique rather than just raw freshness, historically acting as fast food for 19th-century Edo residents. That said, dare I say the best meal I had during my stay on Oahu? I DARE! This was an excellent place suggested by Randy S. I really can't tell you all we had because Randy took charge but every bite? Certified bangers. Not one bad bite had. I miss seeing the sushi chef in person. The sushi that I had was delicious and the preparations were unique (to me) the pieces were smallish, but so yummy. I would have ordered more but I was not very assertive and everyone wanted the iPad . Most of the nigiri orders were only one at the price point I am used to paying for two and I prefer the experience of sharing. My husband at the other table sampled more than I did. Deep fried Octopus and Toro, I had Yellow Tail and Carpacio, sample two rolls. Big surprise, the French fries were outstanding. The check worked out to about 50 pp. I think that was mostly my husband who enjoyed an array of dishes. As mentioned in other reviews, the bill stacks up quickly. I given them 4 stars for uniqueness, mostly.

We are staying at the hotel, Prince Waikiki, and based on the rave reviews, we expected a flawless, high-end meal. While the restaurant looks clean and accurately mimics a true Japan dining atmosphere, the kitchen execution and lack of basic customer service completely ruined our celebration. My husband ordered the Yokozuna set and 2 Kanimiso Gunkans, and I ordered the Ozeki set (we both substituted our Ikura, and he got the Big Shrimp). While chewing his premium Toro, my husband hit a massive fish bone. It was huge, a legitimate, dangerous choking hazard. For a restaurant charging top-dollar for high-grade tuna, a bone of that size getting past a sushi chef is completely unacceptable. When my husband showed the bone to our waitress, she just casually said she would "inform the chefs." That was it. No manager ever came over, no one apologized, and they didn't even adjust our bill. We were forced to pay full premium price for a dish that nearly choked my husband. The pacing was completely mismatched. My husband's food arrived almost immediately, but my Ozeki set took an incredibly long time to come out. Because he didn't want to start eating without me on our first date, his sushi just sat on the table getting warm. The kitchen was running painfully slow, which made no sense because the restaurant wasn't even fully seated yet. Just that little moment left a bad impression and would have been worse if my husband choked. I honestly could have just went to genki sushi, never gotten bones in my fish there. Overall, sushi was good but not something to rave over. to pay that much for sushi I was expecting more, and this fell flat.

After walking around, the hostess asked if we had a reservation. I gave her my name, but she said we didn't have one, even though the restaurant was nearly empty. She then explained that our reservation was actually at their sister restaurant around the other side of the building. We went over there and found that it was primarily a sushi restaurant, which wasn't really what we were looking for. We had expected more of an izakaya-style experience, so we canceled the reservation and returned to the original restaurant. Once seated, the service was good and our server was attentive throughout the meal. One thing that was a little confusing was that sushi and sashimi had to be ordered from the sister restaurant, even though we were dining in the other restaurant. The food was brought over and served to us without any issues, and there were no problems with the bill, but it took us a while to understand how the two restaurants operated together. We ordered several dishes, including chicken skin wrapped gyoza, crab tempura, an assorted sashimi platter, a cream cheese and fish roe appetizer served with toast, an egg dish topped with fish roe, chicken karaage, and the miso butterfish. The highlights for me were the chicken karaage, miso butterfish, and gyoza. I enjoyed them enough to order another round of the gyoza and chicken. That said, many of the dishes leaned toward the sweeter side of Japanese cuisine, which just isn't my personal preference. If you enjoy those flavors, your experience may be different. Overall, the food was good, the service was solid, and there were a few standout dishes. The confusion with the reservation, entrance setup, and relationship between the two restaurants got the evening off to an awkward start, but the meal improved once we were seated. I'm not really a Japanese food person, so four stars is probably the highest rating I could realistically give a Japanese restaurant. With that in mind, I thought they did a good job, and there were a few dishes I would consider ordering again.

Although they have a clean and comfortable space for dining in, we regularly stop by after church or on the weekends for something to savor at our favorite park. Seriously, it's easy to enjoy their bowls, sushi sets, or bentos anytime and anyplace. We've got a passion for this place. Here's how this love affair started...I discovered Domo when a friend invited me for some sushi and sips at her place. I was amazed at the beautiful platter of sushi that accompanied our sake and wine. My friends are the best hosts! I devoured the bombs, nigiris and rolls (in between sips!). Everything was simply delicious! Fast forward a few months, I order a couple sushi sets to host a poolside, golden-hour birthday get together at my other friend's home. (I know, you want to be part of this squad, right?!). Anyway, using the online order system is a snap! My hubby went in to pick up the sushi and said they were slammed but our sushi sets were ready to go. This time we ordered some ikura because the hubby and my bestie are big fans. Both agree it was fresh and fantastic! And the garlic set with the flash-seared fish and a hint of mayo is a MUST-try. We also ordered a California roll for my friend's aunt who is not really a sushi fan. She delighted in several pieces and even enjoyed the nigiri from the garlic set. Total convert! After enjoying the platters and sets, we had to try the bentos and bowls. This time it's just us and the pup at the park. The bentos provide a great variety and comes with miso soup. The hubby really likes the shrimp tempura with ahi and salmon nigiri and ahi poke. It's a steal at less than $20. I'm a bowl girl myself and like the spicy tempura. The tempura is cooked crisp yet tender. The spicy ahi poke combined with the creamy crab salad and the crunchy ocean salad delights all my tastes buds. It's truly an adventure in finding the perfect bite--and there are so many in this bowl! I also love the seared salmon bowl. It is melt-in-your-mouth goodness. I add the fried onions for some texture. You know a place is top-notch when you can feel confident that anything off their menu will satisfy your cravings.
