The sushi here is good but not excellent. Although some spoil-resistant varieties are pre-made, the nigiri sushi fish seems fresh enough and the rice has decent vinegar flavor. Other, pricier, places put larger pieces of fish onto the nigiri sushi, but that seems to go hand in hand with the pricing. I feel really bad about the one star because the girl was so nice, but I wish I walked back out after I pushed the door open and stepped in. I was hit with this old filthy air. That was one. The walls were stained, like it's been a while since someone cleaned it. There is this locked door behind a little waiting bench, and my son was playing back there. I looked down at the ground behind the bench where the locked door is and I almost gagged. It looks like the metal is covered with some sort of black film, made up of either grease and dust accumulated over years. I could not sit there and wait for the food. It took longer than the Little Caesar's pizza, btw. My daughters stayed and waited for the sushi. Ugh, I ate one Ebi roll and I have regretted it because ever since then I've been paranoid about the germs I most likely ingested. I honestly do not know how they passed inspection because it is so unsanitary in there! The air alone is one thing, but the actual grime and stains... OMG walked in there tonight at 6:45pm to pick up a few hand rolls . As soon as we walked in the workers say out loud oh no! I already got the impression of get the hell out of here we wanna go home. First off who the hell closes at 7:00 pm when that's peak dinner hour ? Secondly how hard is it to make a hand roll ? So I ask are you closed already? the guy working says "oh yeah because were short staffed". Um hello I see 3 people working !&@?!@ if I could give this kozo no star I totally would! i haven't gone here yet--and i don't ever plan on EVER going here. wait, before you go "WHAT?!", let me tell you what happened. one night, we were looking for a place to get a quick pick up dinner, as we had been shopping and it was a little late...perhaps around 7:15 p.m.? so we're walking past this Kozo, and my son, who's 8, and i start looking at their menu, which is stuck to the inside of their plate glass window. we decide to get a plate or two to take home. as i approach the front door, i notice the closed sign, which is a bummer, right? and no, i'm not one of those idiots who pull on a door that has a "Closed" sign and expect it to magically open for me. if a place is closed, it's closed, TS for for me. so, we start turning to walk away...and then i hear muffled yelling from inside the Kozo Sushi..."WE'RE CLOOOOOOOOSED!!! WE'RE CLLLLOOOOOOOOSSSSEDD!!!!" my goodness, i WISH i could tell you Yelpers i was lying. BUT, i'm not. i was so flabbergasted i didn't do anything until i got in my truck. then i looked up their phone number on my phone, called them, and they answered! i asked the young man who answered if he had been the one who had just been yelling at me through the window. DEAD SILENCE for two seconds. "uh...no," he stammered. "DO YOU THINK I COULDN'T HEAR YOU THROUGH THE WINDOW YELLING AT ME?" i said, a little more sternly than before. I was looking for a place for dinner and stumbled upon this restaurant. I was impressed with the decor when I walked in for my reservations. It has a really great vibe for a sushi restaurant. Unfortunately, for me, the food did not live up to the decor. The sushi left a lot to be desired, much of it had a very fishy taste, which I know is an odd thing to say since sushi is fish... but when you have good sushi, you truly taste the essence of each indevidual fish... at Kozo Sushi everything had a strangely similar fishy flavor. It makes me wonder how the fish is stored or the quality of the fish. In conclusion, I had high hopes for this place, but unfortunately it fell very short. read more

This has got to be the best Kozo Sushi on the island. I'm being completely serious. In my opinion, they have the best Spicy Ahi Donburi. Whenever I am in the area, I MUST go to this Kozo Sushi. Even if I am not hungry! I was brought here by a very good friend a long time ago after hiking Maunawili. I am saddened by the fact that Kozo Sushi is a franchise that is owned by different owners. The different Kozo Sushi stores have different styles of making the sushi. The Spicy Ahi Donburi from the Kozo Sushi located in Ala Moana is nothing compared to the Spicy Ahi Don from this location. I am becoming a HUGE sushi fan and so when my sister said she wanted "local" sushi, I was like hmmmm.... how about Kozos? So we stopped in and it is deff the only sushi bar I have ever been to where you can get 4 rolls and 2 sodas for under 13.00! It was very quick handmade rolls. TERRIBLE!! Quality and service are poor.On July 8, 2016 I picked up an Aloha Set platter for $31.40. The Ahi on the nigiri sushi was thin and graying on the edges, the egg was thin and dried out, and the shrimp were thin and dry. I complained the next day to the manager who said she could not do anything about it. I wrote a letter of complaint to the company owners on July 11 and have not heard anything from them after one month. Came here tonight to get my fave spicy ahi bowl. So sad when I see their sign indicates that they close at 7 pm and it's only 6:28 pm yup, they are closed...breaking down the register! I will never return back. It's definitely cheap sushi, so you get what you pay for. I threw half my dinner box away from the fear of getting sick. The staff was polite but the resteraunt itself needs a health inspection. There was a puddle of water on the floor when I walked in, the floor was a mess and looks as though it never gets swept or mopped. There were little nats flying on the sushi rolls, never once saw the men handling the rolls wash their hands between orders. It's raw food.... You HAVE TO BE cautious. Kozos!!!! Fast. Delicious. Friendly. I love to stop by here when I'm craving for a spicy ahi bowl (with avocado and cucumbers). I've been to many different kozos around the island but none of them make it the same as the one located in Kaneohe. They put a very generous amount of this special mayo based sauce on top and it's amazing/addicting! Their spicy ahi bowl isn't very...spicy. So if you're looking for something with a little more heat, I would suggest going elsewhere. read more

The original spicy tuna joint, portion sizes have gotten smaller but quality is consistant unlike that other chain sushi restaurant.

This place used to be pretty good, as the other kozos are. They have recently raised their prices and have started giving less. its sad. This used to be the go to place but now things are getting fishy! read more

This location makes the BEST poki bowls, especially the one called the "willo bowl". The staff is great and the manager is a super good boss. You gotta go check them out. Avoid this place unless you want food poisoning! I ate there two days ago and ended up spending the next 24 hours throwing up. This is the only meal I had so know this place was the source. I had an unexpected experience for a KOZO sushi restaurant ever. First this operation didn't have the usual items found at Moiliili and Kahala stores. Ok. that was acceptable. But what was shocking was that I got hard rice, typical of old or undercooked rice. What a disappointment!!! I should have known cause I noticed containers of pre made rolled sushi which means they were making them before. The other stores make them while you wait and that means fresh. (waiting is worth it) I'm sorry to say this place is not worth the short wait. Nor does it live up to the name KOZO Sushi. On top of that was the sushi rolls are about 25% thinner in diameter that the other Kozo's. I was like, look at these rolls! They look and feel like fat fingers. I had good expectations after going to the other stores many times and have always expected fresh sushi. I even asked the staff there if the rice was fresh and he said "Yes". It didnt taste old or anything it was just hard. Perhaps undercooked. YIKES! Sucks. read more

I ordered California roll, which I thought was kinda pricey at $6 for about 8 slices. Dry rice, no taste and I don't know about you but isn't California roll supposed to have mayo mixed with the "crab"? None given - a very dry and boring sushi.
