We came here for the hot pot, not the Korean BBQ. It's all you can eat for $35.99 per person. For…read morean extra $5 you can get "premium" cuts of meat and a few other items. When I've been to other places like this you honestly can't really tell a difference between what they claim to be "Waygu" and regular beef. We couldn't tell a difference between the lamb, pork and beef since they brought it all out at the same time. Once it's cooked it all tasted the same. The only limit is time, 2 hours which is more than enough. Our server was Enzo and he was outstanding. Five stars for him and the manager checking on us. The four star rating I'm giving them has nothing to do with the service, couldn't have been better. The kitchen didn't bring out items we ordered multiple times or the correct amount of items. At the end of the night there were a few things we ordered at the beginning that we never got. I had to sick Enzo on them to get me the shrimp, it took over an hour and I'm not sure why but I thank him for taking care of it for me, he checked multiple times to the point I probably drove him crazy. My girlfriend has a gluten allergy and Enzo was very well informed on keeping everything gluten-free for us. He steered her away from most of the sauces and some of the items that contained gluten. Still, for a gluten-free person this place is amazing and has a ton of options, you won't go board. She absolutely loved the glass noodles, we got at least 3 orders of them. I was blown away by the mussels...they might have been the best I've ever had. We did a split pot with a spicy beef broth and a tomato soup base with a date floating around in it. Everything we tried was really good and we will definitely come back sometime. You can do both Korean BBQ and Hot Pot for $10 more, and for $50 you can get both + the upgraded meats. I'm not sure there's a reason to do both but many tables were doing it. As a fan of Korean BBQ I think Hot Pot is way better. We loved the ambiance...it gave a feeling of being in Japan or Korea, somewhere with lots of flashy neon lights and interesting machines. They even had a robot bartender but it was powered off so I'm not sure it worked as it was a busy evening and you would think they would be using it. The only thing awkward was the table...with the hot pot and bbq in it, it makes for some really awkward angles underneath it to where it would have been difficult to seat 4 people around our 4 top table.

While your larger restaurants will have a lengthy wait at times, Fun Dippot seems to always be moving people through! You grab a bowl and tongs, pick your toppings, grab your noodles, then pick a base. It is weight based but so reasonable IMO, plus you can bring home anything you don't finish. We moved through with ease and sat down to enjoy our food in less than 10 minutes. The inside is very open, clean, and minimalistic. I will definitely be back!

There was a wide selection of ingredients to choose from, and you can customize the broth flavor and spice level however you like. I really liked how you can grab exactly what you want in the quantity you want--no worrying about ordering too much or too little like with hot pot. The service was friendly and fast, and there was plenty of seating inside. There isn't a dedicated parking lot, but we found a paid lot just a short walk away, so it wasn't too bad. Overall, it was a fun and tasty experience--I'll definitely come back to try out more ingredient combinations next time!

I came right before a show at the Alamo Drafthouse around the corner, which makes it the perfect night out for dinner and show. It looks like a lot of people order takeout here, but they have ample tables and do offer an excellent dine in service. I loved their green beans and eggplant. All their food felt more authentic and homestyle than your typical run of the mill Chinese place. The food had flavor, and it wasn't overly greasy either! I'll definitely come back next time in near north Raleigh.

The shrimp, beef, & chicken meal would've been okay if the beef hadn't been questionably fresh (I didn't eat any after the first bite) and the tough, overcooked shrimp. I tipped 15% because the service was terrible. Aside from the lady yelling, "It's okay?" from the kitchen, she never checked on me. Usually, I tip between 25-30%. After I paid and left the restaurant, the rude cashier followed me out to my car. Pointing to the receipt & tip, he yelled, "This is it?? %15 tip??" The only positive thing that I can say about Chuan Cafe is that the Diet Coke was good.

Located in a shopping center, it was easy to get to with ample parking. The restaurant was fairly empty so we were seated as soon as we walked in. I was surprised to see such a large and comprehensive menu of both Japanese and Thai options, and honestly it could stand to either be slimmed or organized differently. So many pages of small print text made it hard to narrow down choices, and even some pictures could have helped here. We ended up with a variety of sushi, an appetizer, and a noodle dish. One of the big things here is the BOGO sushi offerings, which is certainly appealing for a value and variety standpoint. We made sure to order enough to maximize the discount, though it's important to remember they apply the discount to the cheapest items. One other weird quirk is they will only honor the BOGO for a single check, so if you're with a group and want to split checks this becomes a problem. Our group chose to have a single check and paid each other directly instead to make sure we got the discount. All of the food was pretty good. The sushi offerings were perfectly decent though nothing remarkable, but the value to quality balance needs to be taken into account. The restaurant itself could use a bit of work, since between hard chairs, lots of black and red paint, and mostly empty seats it didn't feel super inviting. Overall a decent option and I'd consider coming back, but wouldn't go out of my way for it.

The food was acceptable, but underwhelming. Reading the reviews, there wasn't a popular dish mentioned. I'm wary of having sushi when I don't see a sushi bar. The Tom Yum soup was nicely flavored but it was difficult to tell if the shrimp were completely cooked- important since I'm allergic to raw. The shumai was tiny and somewhat tasteless. The Pad Thai was a total fail. Way too sweet, hardly any bean sprouts and tiny cubes of fried tofu with the mystery shrimp Not sure why the ratings are so high. No need to return.
