Bowls and seasonings available for the hot pot and KBBQ

What a great concept to combine both Korean BBQ and Hot Pot! Before leaving back to Cali, we had our last dinner at KPOT Korean BBQ & Hot Pot in Norfolk, VA. It was the perfect place to accommodate our palates and celebrate 3 birthdays. We opted for the KBBQ only menu and got to pick out our own sauces from the salad bar. There were many veggies to choose from. The servers were all wonderful. And the ambiance was upbeat and lively. The restaurant is located on Little Creek and Tidewater, and was easy to find using Google Maps. My only complaint is how dangerously slick their floors are. Since we had dinner, I'm sure the floors were slick from a day's worth of oil and other dressings. We did let the staff know but I think it was a combination of the flooring material and oil. Overall, we did enjoy the food and the service and how spacious the place was. Definitely worth the visit but make sure you wear non-slip soles!

I absolutely love Korean BBQ and with so many to choose from in the area, we decided on KPOT and I am so glad we did. We decided to dine in on a Friday evening around 8pm and were told the wait was 45 mins to an hour and they were indeed correct because we were seated an hour after we arrived. Our waitress, Zoe, was super friendly and had a great personality. She took our drink and meat order and informed us of where the sauce bar was as well. She mentioned that our meat order would be at our table once we returned from getting our sauces and sides and she was right. As soon as we got back to our table, our first order of meat was ready and waiting for us. We decided on the Short Ribs, Prime Brisket, KPOT Steak, Spicy Chicken Bulgogi, Coconut Curry Shrimp, Spicy Baby Octopus, Spicy Salmon, and the Spicy Pork Belly along with onions, zucchini and a side of rice. We also grabbed kimchi and spring rolls as well. All of the meats were fresh and tasted amazing with the sauce that I created. Zoe was awesome with checking on us and getting our orders placed and the meats came out pretty fast. I did order a Mango Margarita with a sugar rim but not only did it come with a salt rim but it didn't have any ice in it so it did get warm pretty fast. Overall, the BBQ at KPOT was amazing! All of the food was fresh and delicious. The decor in this restaurant was super cute as well and the staff were wonderful. I hate that this location isn't close to me but I would take the drive in a heartbeat to return. I highly recommend checking KPOT out if you're looking for a great Korean BBQ restaurant.

Went here for dinner and it was so good! This was my second time at this location, my first was back in September for my bday. We had a 20 minute wait and went around 7 pm on Friday. A lot of people started coming in right after we did and had 40 min - 1 hour waits, so around that time is definitely when they get busy. Did the bbq only option and it was so yummy, my favorite was the spicy beef bulgogi (10/10) and I ordered a pink kosmo drink (8/10). Totally wish they allowed to-go boxes lol *Also, the floors are very slippery. I slipped multiple times and saw an older woman also almost fall right in front of my table, so please wear shoes that will help you avoid that!* My overall rate of experience : 9/10

I love KPOT, as I've been a few times in Atlanta, so I wanted to check out the Norfolk location. It didn't disappoint! The atmosphere gives a typical kbbq spot, with TVs all around and neon lights. From the sake, selection of meats, and the service bar, everything was exceptional. For $31 you're able to do AYCE hot pot or kbbq, but for $5 more you're able to do both. If you can, do both, it's worth it!

Honestly k-pot is one of my favorite places to go to. Their food is good and you definitely get your moneys worth. Servers are constantly passing by to pick up used dishes and to replace the bbq top. The place itself is really nice and the times I've been it looks clean. Recommend

This was my first time trying hot pot! It was a delicious experience. While the ordering took some getting used to, once I was all settled it was awesome! I tried two broths and a ton of different meats and sides like enoki mushrooms, ramen, shaved beef, pork belly, bok choy... the list was endless and the portions were great! The space was super cool and the staff was helpful; shout-out for recommending the Yoju drink! I'll be back!

We've been wanting to try hot pot for a while and finally made the time to come for lunch today & it was happy hour (Monday special is margaritas!). We each tried a dif flavor, mango & lychee, the drinks were okay you couldn't really taste the fruit flavor. We really enjoyed all the food! The only thing I didn't care for were the crab sticks, the texture was different than I'm used to. Portions of meat are small which is great to try a variety of things and limit waste!! I loved that there was a small buffet filled with sides like kimchi and seaweed & a huge array of sauces. Personally I prefer lunch pricing over dinner, it doesn't seem like dinner comes with that many different items so we opted for an early dinner late lunch to save some money! Overall we had a really great time. The place is huge! I can't speak for how it is when it's busy but today service was great!

AYCE Korean Grill and Hot Pot! The side bar had tons of sauce options, kimchee, seaweed snacks, canned fruits, chicken nuggets, spring rolls, and dumplings. There were also dessert options - ice cream and an eclair. We came in around 2 and was sat promptly- drinks and explanation was within a few minutes. It got really smoky in the building (needs better exhaust) once grill was fired up and the floors were pretty slick. Food came out quickly (though each dish came out portioned for 1/2 people not for the 4 at the table despite increasing the quantity. Quality of ingredients was fresh but felt/tastes lower grade (bulgogi was balled up/connected and fatty). We did appreciate the Tablet option so we can quickly reorder as the round was 3/4 consumed. Our raw plates were cleared quickly as well. For the price we may try coming on a weekday lunch to save a few bucks. But price is on par with other competitors in the area.

I used to love going here but the last time I went, all the IPads were down and we could only order through our waitress. She was of course never around so we could never order any food. They didn't even offer a discount for the inconvenience. I think I'll take a break from this place for awhile, I was not impressed by the nonexistent wait staff.

If you're unfamiliar with authentic Korean BBQ and intimidated by the unfamiliar Korean palette, then KPOT is for you! WHAT I LIKED: - The service was great! The manager was friendly, and so was our server. - Props that they brought out our food and quickly cleaned our plates. - Their menu was really well-organized, divided by beef, pork, seafood, and vegetables. WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: - Most of the meat had no flavor; they really rely on you to enjoy their sauces with their meats. - The sauces, what a letdown. They have sriracha, peanut, soy, sesame, sweet and sour, chili oil, and something called Kpot sauce. None of these are sauces found at Korean BBQ. Where's the Ssamjang? :( - Most folks have mentioned this in previous reviews; the banchan was not great. The daikon radish was flavorless, and the kimchi was a letdown. The seaweed salad was good, and so was the canteloupe. - You can tell they're catering to people who aren't familiar with KBBQ by providing fried food at the sauce bar lol - I prefer KBBQs with the hose above the grill; I feel like the grills they have don't cook fast enough or give it that nice charr. - You know it's not legit KBBQ when they're playing football on the TVs and not K-Pop lol Will I come back? If I did, I'd bring my own sauces. I would've ordered more if the meat was pre-marinated or the sauces were better. I just couldn't enjoy it.

I love Korean bbq. I've been to 2 other places in va beach which are ok but you'll only get to bbq if you order a certain (big)amount of food. Kpot offers ayce at a very reasonable price. The lunch menu option is on the thin side but they're delicious. There were 3 of us and none of us eat pork so the option gets thinner. However, they do kinda make up for it with a decent choice of banchan which are self serve (and so good!) together with sauces and some other appetizers and ice cream too. Concoct your own sauce from the varieties offered. I hope next time to out something spicier. We're south east Asian so those mild gochujang just isn't cutting it. Oh and a little shoutout to our friendly, helpful and attentive server Jay, you made our 1st visit memorable and fun. TQ! We will definitely be back.

The new KPot at 7740 Tidewater Dr in Norfolk was delicious!!!!! Lunch M-F $19.99 AYCE. $5 extra for both, Hot Pot and Korean BBQ. My new fav in the area! Thank goodness they welcome single parties!! Been itching to go alll week!! I tore some food up & was in my zen!!!!! Quality of meats were yum(Spicy Beef Bulgogi), a lot of ingredients for custom dipping sauces, pickled radish, kimchi, & even oil was available for Kbbq pan(so it doesn't burn)!! Teliyia, my server was awesome. Ambiance clean, staff friendly, & Lorie approved!

We tried kpot after being recommended by friends. The experience was fun and the food was good. It is tough to cook everything if you order a lot of food like we did. lol we barely had space on the table and worried about knocking things over. Would suggest starting small and then ordering more. I think the experience was better than the actual food itself but will definitely go back. Our waitress was sweet and helpful. The established was nice and clean.

KPOT Korean BBQ & Hot Pot Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - KPOT Korean BBQ & Hot Pot

How does the payment work? Is there a specific total per person or do the meats add up as the total?

Everyone must order the same: either BBQ/grill, soups, or both. All the meats and vegetables that come with that are included in the price for that selection.

Do i need to make a reservation?

No you do not and as far as we were told they do not accept reservations. If you go peak time there may be a wait- BUT - while you wait they allow you to eat off the BUFFET LINE! And offer snacks! So --- how can you complain about that ? 😊

What's the usual price for just two people?

For lunch prices it is $19.99/pp before taxes and fees.

Do they offer banchan or side dishes (e.g., potato salad/kimchi)?

Yes they do! They have kimchi and radish kimchi. They have a good selection of side dishes.

Once we were seated, our server quickly greeted us and provided the run down of the food items for us to choose from. I absolutely loved how we were able to order our food right from the tablet at our table. It made ordering very convenient and the food was served pretty quickly. We tried some of everything, the Spicy Beef Bulgogi, Spicy Chicken, Sliced Ribeye, Garlic Pork Belly, Calamari and Scallops to name a few. We also ordered the Gyoza, a few sushi rolls and white & fried rice. After we ordered, we went to the sauce bar to grab our sauces and the area was very dirty. Some of the sauces were empty as well. They should have someone on sauce duty to keep that area clean because it was disgusting! I chose what I could and we headed back to our table. The food was fresh with the exception of the seafood, I wasn't a fan! My favorite was the Spicy Beef Bulgogi! Unfortunately, it did take a while for our server to change out the grill after we finished cooking. At one point, we both started coughing because the grill was smoking profusely as we waited for it to be changed out lol. Overall, I would give 3.5 stars. Our server was very friendly and the food was pretty good but I would probably try another Korean BBQ spot next time.

Last time I came it, it was empty. This time me and my mom came hefe on a Saturday night, the restaurant was not full but it was busy! We had to wait for about 30 minutes since we wanted to do bbq (where the grill is installed on the table, and not all tables look like that), but there's no wait if you're not doing bbq. The staff were quick and nice. There are bells next to our table and we can use that bell to ask for service, what a great idea! We ordered Korean pancake with seafood, spicy tofu soup with beef(comes with rice), Galbi (bbq short ribs)(comes with rice), and a grape flavored soju. Just like other Korean restaurants, we were provided with unlimited banchans and salad, and they were all fresh and delicious. The Korean pancake is HUGE. It's also not too much breading but full of leeks and onion, and it was thin and crispy. The Spicy Tofu Soup with beef tasted decent, but I'd like more beef in it. The Galbi was good portion (2 long pieces, 1 small pieces and 2 bones with some meat on) and the marinade tasted good, but I still think $44 is a tad high. The only star was taken off is really the price for the bbq meat. I can see premium protein could be charged higher, but pork, chicken and flat iron steak are some cheaper cut that I personally think is a bit high. I might come back during lunch time to take advantage of their lunch menu tho!

He has great taste, and he also knows I'm very picky and particular about what I eat, so I was curious to see if this place would impress me too. We ordered for pickup. The restaurant itself is beautiful inside. When you first walk in, it may seem like a typical Chinese restaurant, but once you step further inside, you realize there's a much bigger and more thoughtfully designed space. One thing I will say is that the quality of the meat was top-notch. The steak was incredibly tender and paired really well with the onions and sauce. We also tried the Dan Dan noodles, which are listed as one of the restaurant's top dishes (#3), but I personally wouldn't rank them that highly. There was a lot of noodles compared to the amount of pork, and the sauce had a noticeable vinegar flavor that was a little too acidic for my taste. My husband, on the other hand, absolutely loved the chicken and said it was "like crack." The honey chicken was just alright for me. It may have been because we ordered everything for pickup, but overall, the dishes didn't really stand out to me as much as I expected them to. That said, my husband still loves this place, and I can definitely see why he keeps coming back. For me, though, I think I'd need to dine in and try a few more dishes before I could say it's a favorite. He does not agree with my rating.

And somehow the amazing service didn't stop there, because even the bathroom experience was memorable. We met NESHA, who made sure we were okay, not too out of it, and somehow managed to make us laugh and have even more fun from such a short interaction. Who knew? At the end of the night, while waiting for our ride and with the place closing in five minutes, instead of rushing us out into the cold, the staff let us sit at the bar and just talk. That ended up being my FAVORITE part of the night. We laughed, chatted, and genuinely felt like we had made new friends. Daniel, Lou, Bryan, Jennifer, Nesha, and Mae--thank you. You didn't just give great service; you created an UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE. We left having had the time of our lives and feeling like we'd made real connections. I'll absolutely be coming back to Grammy Karaoke, hoping we'll meet again. I recommend everyone come here; and if you're nervous, new to karaoke, or just want a guaranteed good night, keep an eye out for these staff members. With a team this friendly, accommodating, and FUN, I honestly don't see how anyone could have a bad time.

SKIP Kotobuki in Norfolk - Worst Sushi Experience EVER…read more Kotobuki in Ghent is a disaster. I gave this long-running spot a second chance, after a poor first experience, and it was a mistake. A friend insisted we return, and the service was shockingly bad, the sushi was subpar and the overall experience was the worst. From the moment you walk in, Kotobuki screams neglect: dead plants, servers dressed like they're doing yard work and a pervasive smell of old fry oil. We had reservations for the "traditional Japanese" sunken-table room, where we removed our shoes and climbed into our seats. One dirty pair of slippers sat at our table, while a random pair of construction boots lay abandoned nearby. The "ambiance" was completed by 70s soft rock -- Lionel Richie instead of "traditional Japanese" music. Our server took my order for a dirty Stoli martini, then disappeared for an absurd amount of time only to return and say they couldn't make it -- with no explanation. We hunted through the limited menu while our server vanished completely. The owner eventually stopped by, and I had to specifically request a sushi list. Tired of sitting cross-legged, I briefly put my feet into the pit under the table. Rather than place my bare feet on the filthy floor, I slipped my shoes back on for a moment. That's when the owner's daughter stormed over and aggressively accused me of saying, "Screw you and screw Kotobuki -- I'm not following the rules!" She launched into a rude, insulting lecture about "Japanese custom" while I sat there stunned. I immediately took my shoes off again, just to de-escalate, but the evening was ruined. No customer should be verbally assaulted over something as basic as not wanting bare feet on an obviously dirty floor. In an awkward position, not wanting to ruin the evening, I ordered my food. The sake was watery and flavorless, the house salad was sad, wilted iceberg lettuce drowning in bottled ginger dressing, and the sushi arrived lukewarm with questionable rice that called for a palate blinding amount of wasabi. It was boring, poorly prepared, and far below average. This was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. Hand to God! Had this not been a special evening with a dear friend, I would have walked out the second the owner's daughter chastised me at the table. Management at Kotobuki clearly doesn't care about customer service or basic standards -- especially when family members are allowed to treat patrons this way. "Japanese tradition" doesn't excuse poor hygiene, rude staff or substandard food. In America, we have health codes for a reason. If you want decent sushi in Norfolk, go literally anywhere else. Kotobuki is just a lazy dive. There's nothing special on the menu, very little sushi selection and nobody seems to care. If you choose to ignore this warning, lower your expectations folks, you are about to be disappointed. The only thing good about this restaurant, is the opportunity to tell you how much it sucked.
