I will only leave my review based on two reasons. 1.The old lady at the counter had an attitude and acted like she didn't want to be bothered by us. 2. We were charged $1 more than the advertised price. I guess since we aren't Filipino, we have to pay extra. It's very illegal. It was only $1, but it's still illegal.

I was making my way to Sharetea, when this shop caught my eye while I was parking. Winnie's Filipino Kitchen (WFK) is a small, fast casual shop in a takeout style format. Never been to the Philippines, but I think they call this turo turo style. You order at the counter with already prepared items and pay. Looking at the menu, they also have party trays available that you can order in advance. They also have frozen lumpias that you can take home to fry fresh on your own! I might have to do that next time. There are a few tables and chairs, so you can also dine in if you wish, with two walls of shelving with Filipino grocery items that you can purchase. I really like that it was clean and very neat and didn't have that thick, oil-heavy-air odor. You know what I mean? The grease air that hangs? Anyway, back to the bites... - Noms - Lumpias - They were a decent size, tightly rolled and fried nicely. The dipping sauce, however, was just really more red than I'm used to. Can someone tell me if this is typically a jarred sauce or something that can be made from scratch? I'm just curious as to why the color varies greatly from place to place. My kids LOVE lumpia and no complaints from them either, but they also commented about the sauce. Pancit bihon - I got the medium sized container because again, my kids LOVE pancit. It's really not that similar, but I think the translucent pancit noodles remind them of the sweet potato starch noodles in japchae. The pancit was a bit more yellow than other places I have tried, but there was a good ratio of chicken, cabbage and carrots and it was good! Beef kare-kare - This was my try-something-new item. I saw the word "kare-kare" and assumed that it was "curry-curry". Well, the lady (who I am assuming was Winnie) was like no. It's made with peanut butter. Then I asked if it was curry made with peanut butter and she's like again, no. Straight up peanut butter. I decided to get it anyway. It's exactly as she described it. Not sure what is used to thin out the peanut butter, but it's a very rich dish, with big chunks of beef (it's probably chunks of chuck roast or that kind of cut) and green beans. It's very comfort food-like. Just be forewarned, if you have an aversion to cuts of meat with lots of fat or gristle. There are going to be some pieces like that, but personally, I think that adds more flavor. This is a dish that I have been working on for a few days, a little bit at a time, because this is definitely THICK and heavy. Great for cold days like these last couple of days. The takeout counter has about a handful of dishes that I'm assuming rotates with different items. The lunch specials are available with either one or two entrees with either option of rice or pancit (for a small upcharge) and you can even add a third entree for a small fee. Love that this place is a few doors down from Sharetea. You can grab some lunch and get a boba tea afterwards. I really appreciated that it was quiet, clean, with really affordable eats! For about a family of four (small kids, though, not teens haha), you can feed a family of four! Stay safe, Friends!

Had food at a party and it was absolutely delicious! I haven't had this delicious kind of food since I was a child living in Texas near a Navy Base. Next day leaving for our home elsewhere in Virginia we had to stop by Winnie's to take home food to relatives at our home. Wishing we had a place like this were we live at. Owner was very polite and helpful. Very clean inside Nice store

I'm the son of great Filipino woman who could really cook! Sadly my mother passed in 2014, so I try to patronize any Filipino restaurant that I see. I noticed this one and decided that one day I'd stop in and check it out. First of all, this was one of the cleanest small places that I have had the pleasure of ordering from. The products for sale were very organized and neatly marked. The place smelled like food but not spices and the ambience was inviting! I had read reviews before going but I wanted to see for myself. The owner was very matter of fact, which reminded me of my mother and I told her about the reviews. She was very candid in the fact that she takes pride in what she does and works hard for what she has. She was an open book and visibly concerned but determined to continue to let the product speak for itself. The lumpia I was served were freshly cooked, served hot, and very tasty. They had chicken, beef, and pork. They cooked them to order and they were up in about seven minutes. Long story short...I'm going back...often!

How to eat here: Cafeteria style. 1. Grab tray 2. Ask for rice or pancit (noodles) 3. Ask for Chicken Adobo 4. Ask for the Jackfruit in coconut sauce 5. Ask for lumpia 6. Ask for the "Foco" young coconut juice ENJOY! Experience what locals would eat in the Philippines!

After attending a birthday party and running errands all morning, we arrived at Big Ugly starving. I immediately jumped in line for FF when we arrived. - TLC - There was a woman cooking the food and a guy handling the orders. They were extremely busy as they were the only food option at the time, but the guy was still courteous. Despite the high traffic, my order was ready in 15 minutes, as promised. - Noms - The menu is simple and consists of various combos of a handful of items. This was great, because I was able to try most of their items in a few orders. I ordered: #1 - Pancit, Teriyaki Chicken, Lumpia #4 - Fried Rice, Orange Chicken, Lumpia A la carte order of Pancit Bottle of water Pancit - good. Teriyaki Chicken - sauce was thick and concentrated, good flavor. Lumpia - great size, packed with filling and made to order (could have had 10 of those alone) Fried Rice - I think with the amount of traffic that day due to the event, she was trying to make big batches quickly and the soy sauce didn't distribute evenly, so I had patches of both white and fried rice. It was still good. Orange Chicken - good flavor. They were big chunks of chicken with minimal breading, which I appreciate. Overall, the food was fresh and the portions were generous. Two combos and a side order of pancit fed our family (and my school age children don't eat like birds either). Note about my pics: my fam tore up the food before I could even say "Wait!", so the pics are not a true depiction of how much food and how it was served. FF shut down shortly after we finished our meals. I overheard someone saying that FF had brought 6x the amount of food they normally bring and they sold out in a few hours! Good problem to have! I wonder if FF is on a regular rotation at Big Ugly Brewing, but I will definitely be on the look out for them again! Stay safe, Friends!

I tried out the caldereta and the mechado (?). I liked both items but I found it too oily for my liking. The vegetables were stewed perfectly and the meat texture were nice and tender. I think had I visited earlier in the day, it may have had a less oily texture to it. The accompanying soup was super sour but acted as a perfect palate cleanser after the oily meals. The service was excellent-- friendly, patient, and helpful. You can pick and choose different entrees over rice or pancit. Similar to getting food from Panda Express. The inside of the restaurant has several family friendly seatings available and baked goods and market also. Lastly, parking is free and plentiful right across from the front entrance. If an out of area Filipino asked for a good place to eat, I wouldn't hesitate recommending them. I certainly wouldn't mind revisiting again in the future.

I love how well they treated Mak Mariano, and his friends, and also those that came to see and hang out with him. The staff were very kind to allow us all to hang out and take pictures. The food- My hubby ate while I enjoyed hanging out, listening to, and watching Mak tell stories and interact with everyone. Hubby enjoyed the food as always. This was our 2nd time or 3rd time coming here, and even though I can't remember what we had, I know for sure we enjoyed the food. This time around my hubby had Kare-kare and really liked it! We also bought a big container of sisig to go, which we had for dinner and we absolutely love it!!! I'd say Fiesta Kainan is our new fave go to for quick Filipino meals.

The mozzarella one is all cheese inside with the jalapeño one is a hotdog inside. Both were insanely delicious but I had a slight preference for the cheese one. The batter is delicious and the sugar topping creates that perfect savory and sweet balance. We also got an order of the Chinese donuts which came with chocolate and strawberry dipping sauces. Lastly, we ordered the triple sauced chicken which came with rice. Everything was delicious but the corn dogs are for sure the standouts! You must try one! This is a family run business and you can tell they put a lot of work into their food. Go to Facebook or Instagram to find out where they'll be and try out their food. I'll be hunting them down for another mozzarella corn dog.

The older lady welcomed and greeted us, and walked us to our table. She was a very enthusiastic lady and was very happy to have us dine at her restaurant. I loved her energy! We wanted to get the egg rolls as I was craving it, but they said they do not have it despite being on the menu. That was a little disappointing. I got the 6 steamed dumpling, and when my husband chewed down there was bone chunks in the dumpling. We got the sesame chicken which mostly tasted like orange chicken with a little more soy sauce and a little less orange. It was tasty, but again the price for what it was did not match. The honey roasted duck was tasty with a savory thick sauce to dip. We got white rice with our dishes. My husband asked for chopsticks, and there were none which was surprising. The fortune cookie at the end was stale, and my fortune was kind of a hilarious demand to be vegetarian/vegan. The service was decent. The ambiance lighting was very red in color, making it feel dark on the inside. It is awkwardly quiet with loud clinking. One of the light fixtures was broken. Overall, food was just okay, and the pricing did not feel appropriate for what was served.
