One of my past favorite coffee and pastry shops. Location is amazing, so so disappointing that management has given up oversight. The worst was the dirty garbage left over from days before that stank the area while you're waiting for your coffee the creamer was curdled. The place had a basic and unclean vibe. This coffee joint is quaint, well decorated, with friendly staff. The barista is quite talented and since I can't do things like this, feel like my opinion is valid. Sadly, their restrooms were closed but I could tell they take pride in a clean establishment. Their is an upper level that one can be tucked away from the outside world too if that's what you crave. A cafe au lait in the corner, with the beach scents providing transportation to another world for all to enjoy. Came here on vacation. Wonderful coffee shop right on the beach. First visit I had the espresso and the almond croissant. Both great. Ask for the croissant warm it's Delicious! Last day was a Monday morning and the espresso wasn't like the first but still good. Great way to start the morning for sure. Service was cool. It does get busy right around 7:30Am. I look forward to visiting this spot again on our next trip. read more

I've gone to Kraken twice and had bad experiences both times. The first time I went it was 12 in the afternoon and they were out of cold brew as well as alternative milks. The second time they're system was down and the cashier was very rude about it when communicating with me. read more

This is the lightest/weakest/most watery cold brew I've ever had (looks and tastes more like an unsweetened iced tea), as well as being the flattest nitro pour I've ever experienced. Had the kombucha, which was... idk, fine? Booch is pretty reliable. Plus one point for having a perfect location right off the beach but minus one point for having no bathroom. Can't be pounding coffee if you can't uhhh... keep the cycle going. read more

Today with went with a oat milk latte and an iced matcha, both super tasty :) Typically I ask for sweetener on the side and it's never an issue. We also had an almond croissant, predictable, but delicious none the less! They have a few other pastries alongside vegan and non-vegan burrito options. Great atmosphere and service! read more

Location, location! Right across from the beach on a main street. Street parking available all over but very busy on weekends of course and harder to find a spot! Coffee - great quality. We also got a ham and cheese croissant and a muffin that were quite good. Service pretty quick and friendly enough. Prices.. up there for the pastries, $10 plus tip. Plus the coffee, $3 or so, not too bad for that. The place is very small out front of the shop with limited seating. read more

Shoutout to Liz who is awesome, and gave a great rec to mix it up for my affogato with cookie dough ice cream in lieu of vanilla! Ahhhmazing! As far as COVID precautions, there are clear line markings and only one person is allowed inside at a time. The pickup counter is separate. And there are several little tables outside--or just head to the beach to watch the waves! Also they close at 5pm at least on Fridays--which wasn't clear from google. read more

I went into Kraken Coffee for a mocha latte at 2:15pm. Yelp says they are open until 5pm on Mondays. Google says 4pm, and they don't have a full website. They actually close at 2:30! So the barista asked if he could make my drink to go as they close in 15 minutes. I said sure, as I was going to drink it at the beach anyway. Then as he proceeded to make my drink he informed me that they were out of whipped cream and asked if that was okay. It wasn't but I didn't have a choice. Then when I sipped the drink itself, I couldn't taste any mocha at all. None. I give them 2 stars because the staff was really nice and did apologize for the lack of whipped cream, but still. Super cute coffee shop but the four times I've been here they haven't been open on time. I was outside at 7am and the door was locked. The girl saw me and walked away. It was sooooo cold outside I would have been happy if she let me in and made me wait in there! Finally ten minutes later another girl came and let me in. We were staying in Avila but we're locals in Paso so we come here a lot. Bummer I'll have to just get the coffee from our hotel tomorrow morning because at least they'll have it on time. read more

I purchased a hot vanilla latte on 8/1/23 around 12:30. My husband and I walked in and the 2 employees were helping one other customer before I ordered. Once I ordered (and left a tip that I wish I could take back), the employees began to look at one of their phones and talk about something not work related for a minute or 2 before starting to even make my coffee. The coffee ended up costing me over $7 after I tipped and it honestly wasn't even worth $5. I 100% will not be returning to this coffee shop ever again read more
