    Sample platter

We had Kreung Kitchen show up at our local LNY festival. My wife and I decided to share the sample platter and it was so good. I decided to pay extra for the coconut rice and short ribs to really try the best they had to offer. This plate was $30 so definitely not cheap but for festival fare, I'd say this is about what you'd expect nowadays for 2 portions worth. Coconut rice was so fragnant, pairing nicely with the savory meats. Their sauce reminded me of nước mắm, salty, sweet, and spicy.

I have to agree with my fellow Yelper Tuss R. Here, yall need a brick and mortar STAT! I happened upon Kreung Kitchen a month or two ago at the evening farmers market in Playa Vista on Wednesday evenings (ending end of this month) - it was my first time going to this market and had Kreung Kitchen for dinner. God damn the food was FUEGO and customer service/friendly team was cherry on top. I've since been back to the market once and had to get Kreung Kitchen again for dinner. Both times of gotten the plates with some tri-tip last time (the chef let me sample), and the time before that I got a meat combo (as recommended to try out multiple flavors). You CANT forget the sauce that's paired with it - honestly recommend getting two. Kreung Kitchen - where can I find you outside of Wednesday evenings in Playa Vista?!

Y'ALLLLLL, I need this place to be a brick and mortar STAT! Been following for a while and finally got to try today and WOW. Got the lemongrass chicken plate and the chicken was great but honestly the star are those sides! That coconut rice? YUM! That coconut corn?!! Pleaseee that needs to be a side for all my meals! The people running this spot are lovely. Wow can't wait to hunt them down again so can try the other proteins and maybe load up on those sides! Love my Southeast Asian people!!!

Don't sleep on the rice. So good

Randomly saw Kreung kitchen setting up at three weavers. Smelled so good while I was having a beer so I had to try it out. Sam and his crew worked so hard to set up. I got a skewer plate with a side of chicken. Get the coconut rice. So light. Fluffy not too flavorful but so good. Goes so well with the dish. Corn has a nice coconut flavor. The beef was seasoned very well. Nice char flavor. Chicken was left. Try it with the fish sauce. Overall very very good meal. Can't wait to come find them again to support and try the rest of the menu

I've been eyeing Kreung Kitchen for many weeks. Tonight, we finally got a chance to check out the pop-up in Culver City. All I can say is that tonight's atmosphere and meals exceeded our expectations. Before I get to the food, I have to give a massive shoutout to Sam, the owner, and Christina, his partner, for being welcoming, sincere, and kind hosts. They truly embodied the culture of what it means to be Khmer people with their good vibes and energy. They instantly made us feel like family the moment we met. First, I should mention that I'm Khmer, and I agree with the owners of Kreung Kitchen - there aren't many Cambodian restaurants in Los Angeles, which is quite frankly a real bummer, as Cambodian food is incredible. Having just moved here, I was really craving Cambodian food. Second, tonight's food was really fire. This evening, we got the grilled chicken, twa ko, and slow-roasted pork belly, and everything was well-seasoned, well-grilled, and cooked to perfection. You know it's Cambodian food when there's lemongrass! They also made tirk trey koh kong, which is an incredibly addicting dipping sauce. By the end of my meal, I was dousing everything in it. My partner also really enjoyed his plate, and we're already planning our next trip out to see them again! Overall, we're big fans of Kreung Kitchen and will definitely continue supporting this local business! This place is worth the wait and trek out! Seriously, do yourself a favor and swing by. Sending y'all lots of love and support, Sam, Christina, and crew! I can't wait to see y'all bring more traditional Khmer dishes to the streets of L.A.

We've gone to their pop-up in Culver City twice now. The first time we got the beef skewer combo and the skewer and chicken combo. The second time we got their combo #3 which had all the meats avail that day which was so many! It came with pork belly, beef skewers, chicken, and short ribs. It's truly impossible to choose a favorite. It's all equally flavorful and delicious - the char and marinade on the meat is 100. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend giving them a try!

Food? Ah-mazing! Came to one of their pop ups in Culver City. Their food is solid. We ordered the combo plates which came with their rice (basmati), pickled veggies, grilled chicken, grilled pork belly and beef skewers. They're all equally good--so tender. The sauce that came with it was divine. We call it the "crack" sauce because side you'll end up craving for more. Food was worth waiting for. They make the food when you order so you can bet that it's fresh! I'm hoping that the people who've tasted their food would spread the word...letting their friends and family know how delicious this place is. CAMBODIAN FOOD AT ITS BEST --it left us wanting for more. They ran out of corn and rice because they weren't expecting that many people. We have already made plans to go back next week. Although this is a pop up place, can't really say much about the ambiance but my only comment is what we felt during dinner was more like a "family gathering" . We really felt like we're attending a family party. Sam and Cristina are very friendly. Sam chatting with customers while cooking the food---it felt like a wholesome event!

This Pop-up serves up some amazing food!! Everything was so flavorful and delicious. The beef skewers were my favorite. The chicken was very moist. The pork belly melts in your mouth--this is just a preference of mine but I like my pork belly cooked well done. But they cooked it to perfection. Their signature rice with coconut (and I think garlic?) is so good! I'm not sure what gives it the yellow color but it's like crack! I especially enjoyed their fish sauce too! Go try them!

First time we tried the food, a rainbow appeared over head... We knew then that this would be a spot for us.... We have followed them to most of their pop-ups. The food is always delicious and freshly made. Cannot beat Cambodian BBQ....... The Lemon Grass marinade and the coconut milk that is used. Everything tastes so good. Our favorites are the beef sticks, pork belly, rice and corn. Always service with a smile. The crew is always professional, accommodating, friendly, and have great conversations...... We will be back.

I love the food! The flavors are so aromatic! The beef skewers OOF! I cannot recommend them enough. Sam puts lots of love into this food and you can really taste it! Recently had the opportunity to try a fried chicken sandwich and whatever he marinated the chicken in was amazing! The sandwich was huge! Also, the wings were so crunchy and the dipping sauce was soooooo goooood!!!! I'll definitely get my hands on his food whenever I can! You should follow their page on IG in order to find out where you can find him!

So happy to have Cambodian food in west LA!! Will definitely be back, 10/10 recommend!!

The food was delicious, and the staff were very pleasant & helpful. I tried the short ribs, pork belly, and beef skewers which had great flavor along side the rice, corn, and pickled veggies. I will definitely be a returning customer and try more items on the menu.

The water spinach arrived sizzling at the table, adding to the experience and making the dish feel fresh from the wok. One reviewer described the place as "barren," and honestly, it is quiet and low-key. But that's part of the charm for me. Not every restaurant needs to be another overly curated, gentrified "hip" spot with hip signs and then charge an arm and a leg for the food. Something is refreshing about the tranquility here, a calm place where you can actually enjoy your meal and conversation. The place is also very clean. The owner is also incredibly friendly, and I enjoy chatting with him. This place has soul. My rating is solely on the food, consistent with all reviews. More importantly, the food delivers solid value, especially given that everything is halal, and the menu blends Malaysian, Burmese, Thai, and other Southeast Asian influences. Kueh Teow Goreng - 3/5. This dish is essentially the Malaysian/Indonesian cousin of Pad See Ew. The noodles were well-balanced in flavor - savory without becoming overly salty - and the beef was tender and paired nicely with the dish. The rice noodles are fresh. While it didn't quite reach the smoky "wok hei" heights that make the best versions unforgettable, it was still satisfying and thoughtfully prepared. Goat Curry - 3/5. I also tried the goat curry, which I enjoyed quite a bit. They use the right cuts of goat meat: tender, bone-in pieces that add depth and richness to the curry. The spice balance was good and comforting without overpowering the dish. I do wish the curry had a bit more tang and heartiness to push it to the next level, but overall, it was flavorful and enjoyable. The naan served alongside it was fresh, though I personally would've liked it a little fluffier. Overall, Mutiara Food & Market serves good, honest food at affordable prices. It may not be flashy, but it offers something increasingly rare: comforting halal Southeast Asian food in a peaceful, unpretentious setting.

One thing that I did like about the interior design was that they had Thai movie posters hung up on several walls, but overall I thought much of the design clashed with each other, I'm not sure what it was trying to be but then again I'm not from Thailand so perhaps I just don't get it. The food we ordered was the pad see ew gai and the chicken pad thai. I also ordered a red wine. The chicken pad thai first off was exactly what you'd expect, the problem is it's what I would expect from basically any Thai place, there was nothing unique about it and they did not put their own spin on it, for 7 bucks I could've gotten this anywhere. It was good, but it was nowhere near the levels of hype this place receives. That was the best part of the meal, the pad see ew gai was just awful, extremely bitter greens and way too salted, I would've sent it back if it was my order but my partner just took it to go. The red wine I got I do not remember the name of but it tasted like an olive, it tasted like something you put in a salad not something you'd drink a glass of with dinner. It was close to vinegar which made me wonder if it was going bad. Finally, the service was not awful but it was definitely poor. The one bright spot was the guy who had owner or manager energy when we came in, he was super friendly and personable, made conversation with us as we sat down and overall seemed like a cool guy. Our waitress seemed uninterested in her job or us, she took our orders, did not make any conversation with us, and visited our table twice over the course of an hour. She showed up, took our drink orders, and then our food orders. Someone else brought out our entrees "as they were ready" which is weird and struck me as lazy. Every interaction with staff after the first guy I mentioned felt transactional, as if they were just going through the motions, they barely even looked at us. Our server never returned to ask us how the food was (not good!), nor did she ever try to upsell us asking if we wanted more wine or anything else to eat like dessert, it felt as if she didn't know the very basics of being a server. I had to actually flag her down to get our check given to us which should never happen in a restaurant, and by the way I stood there watching her chat with and dance with her co-workers while we were staring at them waiting for anyone to notice us at all. Finally, on our way out no one said goodbye to us, no one was standing at the door, it felt like we were generally ignored the entire time. This restaurant is kind of a joke, it is propped up by self importance and purchased reviews that think because the decor is eccentric enough and the food doesn't come back up the wrong way this must be a hot spot in LA. I will not be re-attending this place, and anyone who is not looking to follow trends should do the same.
