    Char siu sandwich
    Ana A.

If you're craving a burger from a food truck in Los Angeles, you're in luck-this city rolls deep with flavor. This burger is a masterclass in balance: sweet, sharp, peppery, creamy, and savory all in one bite. It's elevated without being pretentious, and every ingredient plays its part without stealing the spotlight. Also tried their Char Siu sandwich: ciabatta pork char siu, pickled daikon, carrots, alioli and cilantro. Perfect combination to create a delicious savory pork sandwich. I will definitely come back soon

If you're a foodie, you NEED to try this truck!!! And if you're not a foodie, this truck will make you one! The best Peruvian style sandwiches in LA, possibly in all the world. The employees are so lovely and kind and the food speaks for itself. Absolutely delicious. 10/10 recommend.

The red onions and tomatoes keep that ideal bite without getting soggy. Pairing the seasoned fries directly with the rice absorbs all that savory sauce so well. Easily a 5/5 meal. The service was very quick and I got my food within 15 minutes on a busy Sunday. In terms of ambience, there's an outdoor seating area but parking is a hassle so be prepared to leave your blinkers on and run out to grab your order. Overall, Mex Peru Gipsy completely knocked this out of the park, and I'll definitely be ordering this again!

He came out personally and asked if it was our first time visiting, and right away you could tell how much he genuinely cares about his customers, his restaurant, and the quality of service they provide. Juan took the time to share some of the history of the restaurant, which has been around for over 45 years, and how it has evolved throughout that time. What stood out to me most was how much appreciation he showed for his staff and chef, many of whom have been with the restaurant for over 20 years. He spoke about them with a lot of gratitude and made it clear that he sees them as a major part of the restaurant's success. He was also extremely knowledgeable about the food. He explained some of their recipes, what makes them special, and how they use authentic Peruvian ingredients. You could really hear the pride and passion he has for maintaining the quality and authenticity of what they serve. He also shared how social media, Yelp, Instagram, TikTok, and especially the support of customers have helped the business continue to grow. What I appreciated was how humble and grateful he was about it. After 45 years in business, you could still see how much every person who walks through the door means to him. Great food and even better hospitality. If you're in Downtown LA and looking for authentic Peruvian food, I highly recommend stopping by. You're not only supporting a local restaurant with decades of history, but also a business that clearly takes pride in its food, its people, and taking care of its customers. Thank you, Juan, for making our first visit such a memorable one. We will definitely be back, good vibes, delicious food!

But there was so much to eat and it was all so flavorful. The ceviche classico is some of the best I've had in years. Lots of fish, tangy, incredible with the Peruvian corn and sweet potato fixins. Sandwich de lomito was chonky and saucy and hit the spot. Aguadito de pollo really tasted like a savory delicacy, tender chicken and a good deal at under $7 for a decent-sized cup. Overall, it's pricy but the dishes are delicious and thoughtfully made. Excited to eat some leftovers today.

The Peruvian food is still as good now as it was then. I ordered the Aquadito de Pollo which is a chicken soup with a distinct herbal flavor. There is plenty of tender chicken in the soup. It was a good start to my main which was Saltado de Pollo, my favorite. The dish was nicely prepared with a good ratio mix of chicken, onions, tomatoes, and French fries. It was not too salty at all. Rosty seems to make an exemplary Saltado de Pollo. The Chicha Morada was refreshing with the meal. I would return to Rosty if I am in the area again. Dining areas are comfortable with staff being friendly and efficient. The neighborhood looked gentrified with many other businesses in close proximity to explore. Street parking is usually available on the side streets if none is found in front of the restaurant.

I ordered the quarter chicken with rice and salad, and I was really impressed with the portion sizes. Everything was flavorful, comforting, and gave me the kind of authentic Latin food vibes that I love. The sauce was definitely the highlight for me--it was so good that I found myself adding it to every bite. The prices are also fantastic. For the quality and quantity of food you get, this place is truly a gem. That said, there were a couple of downsides. The restaurant itself is very small, with limited seating available. The customer service also wasn't the best during my visit. Since the dining area was completely full when we arrived, we decided to place our order to go. While we were waiting for our food, a table opened up, so we asked if we could sit down and eat there instead. We were told that because we had ordered our food to go, we were not allowed to sit in the restaurant. I found that a bit disappointing, especially since we had already paid for the same food as everyone else dining in. Overall, the food was excellent and definitely the reason I would come back. If I'm in the area and craving their chicken, I'd absolutely return--just with different expectations regarding the seating situation and service.

The word of the day is FUNKY…read more 1. Food. It's at best a 4 star. My favorites were the grilled salmon and lomo saltado although both portions fit into the palm of my hand (Well, everything we ordered did so beware - who needs Ozempic when you can go here for dinner?). Ordered a few ceviches (king salmon, yellowtail, scallop) and was not impressed. It was fresh but exceptionally fresh. Flavors were okay, I expected to be more impressed by the fusion but it just felt performative. The quality of the fish does not match the prices they charge. The teas were great but they were also $14 each for like a grande cup portion from Starbucks. Also everything is non alcoholic except some random THC drink and like a beer? Funky. 2. Service. FUNKY AF. I made a reservation for a birthday for a party of 7 (you have to DM them on IG for parties 7+ btw) earlier in the day. They DMd me back saying no problem and changed my reservation to a party of 7 (it was previously at 6, the max). My party gets there at the reserved time. Upon entering, there was no greeting, no welcome. I felt like I entered some secret society where everyone's in on a secret except you. The server (tall male) eventually comes up to us and the first thing he says is that our reservation was changed to 5pm without notice and seemed to be blaming us for the mix up. The Opentable app doesn't even allow me to edit my reservation since edits for parties 6+ are not allowed. It must have been a worker here messing with the reservations and we got caught in the crossfire and they ended up blaming us. The cherry on top was that they never did anything for the birthday person nor even acknowledged his birthday. DO NOT come here for a celebration because your vibes will 100% be killed by the end of the night. The servers here give "I put an ad out on Craigslist and hired whoever showed up". Not sure any of them know what they're doing. We were seated for 15 min with no water. I had to flag them down since they were busy chatting and hanging out. The server with short blonde hair in a ponytail passive aggressively brings us water and then zero cups. Who brings jugs of water with no cups? Then we had to chase them down again to get cups. "Chase" them down since the restaurant is the size of a garage so clearly it was intentional they were not checking in. Everyone had sour attitudes the whole night as if they are not willingly employed here. 3. Ambiance. FUNKY!!! Do NOT be fooled by the videos guys. This place is like a run down, local dive bar trying to serve Michelin food. You can just FEEL the inauthenticity and performativeness of the place. This place is musty. It's on the corner with trash everywhere and a bus stop outside, and no parking so there's your first red flag. There's no central AC so prepare to suffer. They play loud and constantly genre-changing music that makes no sense. I tried to DM them on IG to get them to explain the reservation mix up and avoid writing this review and I'm currently on delivered for 12 hours - although they're quick to respond to a reservation request! I wish I could rewind time and tell my past self to avoid this place at all costs. HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND and will never be returning. Holbox in DTLA puts this place to shame. Please go there instead of you're looking for fresh ceviche. The prices they charge actually match the quality of food and service. There are way too many better restaurants in LA for a place like this to continue to be in business. Good luck!
