Pad Thai (Thai Spicy) with Tofu
    Loan C.

I wish restaurants would stop changing recipes to be more palatable for a demographic of people who don't want to actually experience the real flavors of ethnic food. I ordered a lunch special from DoorDash, and I had really high hopes for this place! I ordered the pad thai (Thai spicy level) with 2 veggie rolls. I can appreciate that the Thai spicy spice level was hot enough, but I would not call it Thai spicy. I broke a sweat at my desk eating my lunch, but the heat quickly dissipated. However, the pad thai itself was very bland and flavorless. I felt like it was lacking fish sauce or something, it wasn't very memorable. The veggie rolls were ok, but also lacked seasoning. The food is more of a fail than a win.

    Curry Fried Rice with chicken

I ordered take-out. It was very quick when ordering online. I got the curry fried rice with chicken. I can taste the coconut milk in the rice. It tastes amazing. And for the pad woon sen, I like the glass noddle dish. Their food tastes so good.

Pad thai with none of the toppings its supposed to come with. $18 gimme my fucking money back!!

Dry. And more dry. Definitely not on my list for favorite Westside Thai. A few people recommended so figured I would try lunch. Decent priced lunch specials, that's nice. Rough part of Venice Blvd but sweet inside. Nice enough service. I ordered the lunch duo. Dry. The Pad Thai was dry. The satay was dry. Least favorite satay in a very long time. I usually love it. I also tried to order a spicy coconut soup and she told me it would be too spicy for me, I should order medium. No spice to the medium level and fairly bland tasting. The soup was also very watery, lame! Pretty small portions as well. On to the next or back to the same for me.

a cute spot in Culver City with good Thai food. I took my parents here and they enjoyed it a lot, especially the blackboard with the chalk menu. the girl serving us was also so sweet :) we ordered: - pad see ewe with tofu - papaya salad - yellow curry my favorite was the pad see ewe and the papaya salad was so tart and refreshing. i hope to come back!

My husband and I went to see a play in Culver City, but before the play, we stopped in this restaurant around. The vibe is cool, cozy, serving food by family, really nice . The food is delicious! There are some different styles of plates. Really a reasonable price. The service is friendly, not fast, but it is worth!

Tom Yum soup. Didn't order this one. Wasn't good

Out of the plethora of Thai options in Los Angeles (Especially in the culver City/Palms area), I wasn't too impressed with this one. Much suited better taking a walk down Venice for other THai options. I asked the server which she likes better TOm Ka soup or the Tom Yum. She told me Tom Ka. I went for her recommendation. Don't know if she heard me, but I was served Tom Yum soup instead. So either there was a miscommunication, or rude. Who Knows. Either way, the Tom Yum soup really was heavily flavored with the coconut milk, and less of the other flavors. It was way too rich and the broth had a greasy orange consistency permeated throughout. The orange droplets were elemental of the Ka soup. Which probably means they stirred the pot with a single spoon inadvertently mixing some of the plumes into each other.

    Spicy Basil Fried Rice

I was in the mood for Thai food for lunch so I wanted to try BKK101. I ordered the Spicy Basil Leaf Fried Rice with Chicken. First off the portion was small compared to other Thai restaurants I've tried. Also the dish was not Spicy at all which was a Big disappointment for me as I Love spicy food. To be honest I don't think I will be ordering from BKK101 again.

    Larb (beef)
    Ruby P.

This is a small Thai restaurant near downtown Culver City. I got Bangkok rolls with a side of duck meat. They were so good eaten together. I especially loved the sweet dressing underneath the rolls. Neither of them was spicy and that's how I preferred. My mom got beef larb. She had the level 1 spicy and it was very spicy (for her and definitely me). Overall this dish was okay. Not as savory as the Bangkok rolls with duck. We dined in and the service was good. Though they took a little longer to serve our food. Kinda reasonable as our food have nice presentations and were both well made! I recommend this place if you want smaller portions (while reasonably priced).

I had the pad see ew and it's pretty oily but I could stop eating it. I would give it a 8.5 because it's oily but it was still so good.

The regular menu is quite expensive with the cheapest at $17 for appetizer and salad options and most expensive at a whooping $80. The lunch menu was more affordable but still on the pricey side $21-$32 with add on options. The waitress was taking our orders and what surprised me was with my co-worker ordered the pad see ew and the waitress asked her how spicy she wants it. I was aw shocked. I'm not a Thai food expert but I do know pad see ew is a noodles dish that's offers a sweet soy sauce flavor. Never served spicy. I didn't get to try the dish but when I asked my co worker how it taste she said it was spicy and not sweet at all. I'm not sure that was an authentic pad see ew. I ordered from the lunch menu and got the tumeric chicken, with steamed vegetables and paid extra $7 to substitute for a papaya salad. I asked for #2 spice level but it was not spicy at all. Other co workers said they asked for medium but it was way too spicy. So it looks like their spicy levels are inconsistent. I'm not sure how this restaurant can justify the prices with the quality they are serving. Probably won't be back. Service was mediocre. Didn't offer to refill our waters. The rice was piping hot and the mangos were sweet and soft, drizzled with a generous serving of sweet coconut milk. Personally, the rice was a bit too soft for me and the coconut milk was a tad too sweet, but it still scratched the itch I had for mango sticky rice. I went close to closing so the staff could only offer me takeout, which was fine. They were friendly both over the phone and in-person when I picked up my order. I'm only dinging it a point because of its high(er) price point. I would be down to go back again to try out their entrees next time though!

I felt like I came to eat and my mom's house. They take Debit Card and Apple Pay WITH a pin only. I forgot my wallet and paid with Apple Pay. It did not have a place for tip which made me feel awful. At the end I apologized and she was like "it's ok, next time." And she was genuinely fine with it. She reassured me not to worry about it. So I'm determined to come back to tip her because if anybody deserved a tip it was her. I ordered Pad Thai with tofu- I like to order peanut sauce on the side and the woman found it interesting and struck a non judgmental conversion about it. I could really tell she was genuinely curious. This was my favorite dish. It was good. I also ordered spicy fried rice with tofu and spicy panang curry with vegetables. I chose 4 out of a 6 for spicy and it was not spicy at all for me. The rice was fine, nothing extraordinary and nothing bad. The panang curry was yummy. I don't know if it's regional but it was very light in taste and light in thickness. BUT I enjoyed it for what it was. Felt like I had gotten home made chicken soup or something like that comforting and not overly processed. Maybe it's because I ordered it with no protein and just vegetables. I ordered a lot of food so I explained to her that I was going to eat some and take the rest to go. When she brought the food she brought it nicely packed without a bag. She also brought me a real plate and utensils to eat here. She let me know that when I was ready she'd bring a bag which I thought was thoughtful. She also made sure to say "take your time, no need to rush. We close at 8" and it was 5pm. Again, it felt genuinely nurturing, she wanted to make sure I felt taken care of and welcomed. It meant a lot because I was frazzled from forgetting my wallet and from having a hard day at work. This was my first time here and it won't be my last. There is a small lot on site. Prices were very reasonable.

I can't believe it's been 12 years--and I'm so happy to say it was every bit as incredible as I remembered. My friend and I came for lunch. I ordered the vegetable pho, and she had the curry rice. Both dishes were absolutely delicious--fresh, flavorful, comforting, and beautifully prepared. Honestly, I wish we had more time because we had another appointment downtown. I would have loved to try more dishes and definitely dessert! Our server was wonderful--friendly, attentive, and incredibly professional. He checked on us at just the right moments without ever feeling intrusive. The service was as impressive as the food. The restaurant has such a warm, relaxing atmosphere. I especially loved the beautiful ceramic water cups with bird designs--they were so unique and charming. Even the water tasted wonderful! I'm thrilled that Au Lac is still thriving after all these years. If anything, the food tasted even better than I remembered. I certainly won't wait another 12 years before coming back. In fact, I was so impressed that I convinced my husband to come with me next Saturday for dinner! I've tried many vegan restaurants over the years, and Au Lac remains my absolute favorite. My favorite on the Westside is Variable Café, but if you're willing to drive a little farther, Au Lac is on another level. I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough. Whether you're vegan or not, this place is truly outstanding. Five stars without hesitation!
