I brought in my dog at the last minute one day when I was in the suburbs for an extended period of time, and Monroe came out looking and smelling great! Kelly was very patient with Monroe, especially her silly tendency to not let anyone touch her paws. She did her best to try and trim her paw pads and nails, but Monroe just doesn't let anyone near them without throwing a fit. She hasn't let anyone touch her paws since the vet trimmed them too short one time and she bled, I can only hope that Monroe eventually gets over it and allows groomers to do their job in that area. The store was nice and clean, and the staff is helpful and knowledgeable. They had a fun treat display for Valentines, and the staff tried to help get me Monroe's food even though they didn't have it in stock. It would have taken a week to get to the store and I was returning to the city, but I appreciate the help. I just wish they had the Hills Science Diet, lamb flavor in store in larger bags! A small natural pet food store on a large plaza near Whole Foods. There are lots of choices from canned and kibble to freeze dried and frozen food. Also a pet grooming service is onsite right at the entrance. For us, the store has little choice for cats when compared to the choices available for dogs. Also, while the staff is friendly and accommodating, most are not knowledgeable about cats or cat food. Overall, a good choice when you know what your pet likes and needs. I took my Shetland Sheepdog (Sheltie) here feeling they would do a professional job and trim him the way a sheltie should be trimmed. Nova literally buzzed off the hair on his back legs. I specifically told her NOT to do this and explained I just wanted a trim and shaped as a sheltie should be. I called in advance to see if they knew how to groom a sheltie. I was assured they did. First lie. I also asked for a ballpark of the cost. I was quoted $76, but charged almost double that, and he lied right to my face saying that he quoted me $98. Unfortunately for him, my phone records all calls and he clearly said $76. Second lie. Then he had the nerve to ask if we wanted to leave a tip - my husband refused once he saw the horrible job they did on our poor boy. I wouldn't bring a dead dog back here. My granddaughter could have done a better job. read more

I take my standard Australian Shepherd, Moose, here and they do an AMAZING job! He doesn't necessarily love being groomed but Dagmara makes sure he's comfortable and he definitely does love all the attention he gets. We live on a lake and his long hair can get pretty matted once he's in the lake everyday. She is able to get his matts out and he looks so handsome every time I pick him up! Today was my puppy's first grooming, and they did SUCH an amazing job!! Rachel was so kind enough to take on my challenge of a puppy who isn't fond of baths or blowdryers. She made sure to comfort him and keep close contact as she was grooming him, and he seemed to calm down as she pet him and walked him through it. Beautiful store! I had never heard of Kriser's before and was super-glad to find this store. I had previously been driving about an hour (half-hour both directions) to buy my dogs' Raw food (Stella & Chewy's frozen) and this will save me quite a bit of time! The store is more of a boutique style, with the focus on GOOD dog food. None of that crappy dog food you buy at the large chain pet stores. This is healthy &/or high quality food. They've also got little stuff: cleaners, vitamins, shampoo, dog toys, etc... but i just needed food. Store was very clean. Ladies that I ran into were friendly. I'll def be back! I purchased my first bag of Primal Pet Raw patties along with some recreational raw bones and scheduled an appointment for my dog. Not only were they so informative and welcoming during my first visit, my puppy fell in love when we returned on Saturday for his Grooming. I was so amazed and happy with our groomer that I have totally forgotten her name (blond hair pulled back in ponytail with shaved sides). She recommended a comb for me to use on my dog!! THANK YOU!! I've heard a lot of hubbub about Kriser's through the years, but this was my first time getting to experience it for myself and I'd say it lives up to the hype... and that's coming from a person who doesn't even have a dog (sadly). While most of the store is dedicated to pup stuffs, they do have an admirable amount of kitten items to be smitten with. I was incredibly impressed with their specialty and high-quality selection of foods for both feline and canine companions. In fact, I don't know that I've seen better elsewhere. You do pay a pretty penny for the high-quality, but that's just how it goes for food and I didn't find any of the prices on meals for your furry mate to be egregious. I found the toys and pet entertainment items a bit pricier than my "local" favorite, The Dog Patch in Naperville, but this is a different kind of store and again, the focus is more on food. I think if you've got a picky pup who's on a special diet, this place is worth the trek and the shop girl was plenty friendly, inviting eye contact, not pushy or high-and-mighty, but I think if you're looking for toys or accessories or cat items other than food, it might not be as fruitful a trip compared to some other options. If you're in the area, it's right next to the new Whole Foods Market, parking is super easy and you'd really be remiss not giving it a good look-see for Spot, Fido, Rover and all their furry friends. read more

Beware of their dog bones. My precious Cane Corso almost died two weeks ago from chewing on one of their large dog bones. Their staff needs to be more informative of their products and warn their customers. Yes, I did monitor and take it away after a short time. On top of it, when I told their staff they showed no remorse or even say I am sorry about Luca. I will never go back there again. One employee even bad mouthed my Vet, Skycrest and told me to go to this guy in McHenry because he does not believe in vaccines etc. Thank God for Skycrest, VSP and Fox Lake Animal hospital which did an emergency surgery on Luca that evening. The bone was inches away from perforating his intestine. Today, I went back into Kriser's to get my points to buy my dog food somewhere else. They didn't even mention Lucas name after I have been their customer for two years and ask how was he doing. To them, it's about the money. All these positive reviews about Dagmara is so true. She is literally dog whisperer. My parents dog, Choco gets very anxious and won't let his nails cut by groomer. But not with Dagmara, he is so calm with her and she is only person that can cut his nails! I take my pup here too and he literally enjoys getting groomed my her. She is so professional and her grooming styles are amazing. She has gave me several recommendation on how to take care of his hairs and with her recommendation, his hairs are silky and so smooth all the time. This place really deserve 5 stars. Shopping at Kriser's is always a wonderful experience...the best products, knowledgeable sales people and a lovely story. But it's DAGA, the Groomer, who sets this location into the stratosphere. She is a wonderful groomer, she's patient, professional, kind, loving! Most importantly for those of us with frightened dogs, she makes the dogs feel special, comfortable and beautiful during what can be a very stressful experience. I have two tiny rescue dogs with lots of physical issues. DAGA handles them gently, and patiently...so they are no longer afraid of the experience. She is flexible, too, and comes up with very creative ways to groom them and make them feel safe. She's fast, too! I wouldn't go to any other groomer or any other location because of DAGA. I've been purchasing my cat's food, treats and toys from this location as opposed to the one closer to home in Vernon Hills since it is located near the Whole Foods that my fiancé and I visit weekly. The customer service at this location is fantastic and all the interactions I've had with the staff have been great. On one visit, I was looking for dental treats and an employee provided me with an option. On another visit, I noticed that the store did not have the brand of dry cat food my cat eats on the shelf. I asked an employee what happened to it, and she said that their store doesn't sell a lot of it and they have to damage it out, so they stopped carrying it. She suggested an alternative brand and gave me a small sample bag for my cat to try. Another time, I was looking at some foamy shampoo to use on my cat's coat since she has dandruff on her lower back just above her tail. The woman I interacted with suggested that I give my cat some coconut oil for her coat. Best of all, she suggested that I just buy some from Whole Foods since it is cheaper than buying what they carry and can be consumed by my cat. I appreciated that she didn't try to push their product on me. Lastly, I received a great suggestion on a catnip toy when I purchased another kind during a visit. On my most recent trip, I purchased a bag of Fromm dry food (the game bird flavor, which is a grain-free entrée of duck, turkey, quail, pheasant, and real Wisconsin cheese with an assortment of fresh fruits & vegetables) for my cat. This was what was recommended to me on a prior visit when I noticed that they did not carry the Core Wellness brand anymore. I fed a little bit to my cat, and she loved it. During checkout, the cashier asked me if I cut out the barcodes or bring in the old bag for their rewards program associated with the Fromm dry food. If you purchase 12 bags, you get a bag free. I told her that it was my first time trying the brand. She asked if me I wanted to start up the rewards program, which I did. She cut out the barcode for me, put a sticker on the bag to prevent the food from escaping, and told me that I have 30 days to return the bag for a refund if my cat doesn't eat it. That was just another example of their excellent customer service. In fact, everyone that's completed my transactions has been friendly and completed my purchase without any issues. I recall having a friendly conversation with a blonde named Jennifer about our names during a visit. Oh, and if you buy your pet's canned wet food from here, purchase a case and save 10%. And, if you haven't switched up your pet to all-natural food, I highly suggest you do. You try to feed yourself healthy, right? So, you should do the same for your pets since they are like family to you, right? Granted, the food will be more expensive than the food that you can buy at the big box stores, but the quality and ingredients are far better and worth every penny. If you're in the area and looking for pet food and/or are looking to make the switch to all-natural, come to Kriser's. The high-quality products and excellent customer service will convert you and make you a customer for life! read more

This place is to dogs what Toys R Us was to me as a child. Originally I had been taking my dog to Pets Mart for grooming but then I had been recommended to try this place out. They have several different locations. My first visit here with my dog was a five star experience all around. The people working here all love animals & you can tell that they actually enjoy working here & seeing animals. Some places you go to you can tell the people are just there to collect a pay check but not here. I also found a few other gems at this locations. They have special dog food that I started feeding all of my dogs. It is pricey but they quality of the food is so much better. They also have some bulley sticks that the animals absolutely love. They are a little over $7 each but they are totally worth it. The most important thing about this place is that all of the workers here are very friendly & they do a great job especially when it comes to grooming. Every experience I have had at this location has been a good one & I will definitely be coming back. read more

Ever since I've been a dog owner, I'm realizing how important healthy & safe products are for our pets. Any pet owner will agree that Pets are family. When we found Bentleys, we were happy to find a place who sells organic food. Now that we discovered Kriser, I found another pet store that are aware of the ingredients contained in pet food & treats as well as making sure they know where the products are made. Kriser sells the dog food we buy for my babies (yes, they are my babies). They even carry toys, leashes, beds & clothes. Actually the main reason we gave Kriser a chance is because I wanted to see if they had any harnesses. A friendly staff person showed us all their different types. She asked for the size of our dogs, then she narrowed the options we had. She even placed the harness on a dog-maniquin (guess that would be a Dogiquin). Well she convinced us enough to buy two harnesses & our dogs love them. I will say their staff are friendly & informative. I'm glad we discovered Kriser. We are definitely coming back. read more

When I first came to Krisers I was a little overwhelmed with all the brands of dog food, but the very friendly and helpful staff helped me find exactly what I needed! They have so many different varieties of dog food and my dog is allergic to most things, but since I switched to Fromm's grain free and Zignature limited ingredient diets my little girl is A LOT happier. Amazing customer service! My dog Mattie was adopted last year and can be skiddish around new people every once and a while. They gave her THE perfect trim (I had a bad experience last summer where they practically shaved her long coat) Dagmara and Meg were SO gentle and took their time gaining her trust. We're open about things she had difficulty with while grooming (ears are sensitive!) and were conscious of making sure all the dogs coming in and out were contained! I originally found Kriser's because I was looking for a store that sold Fromm after moving away from Evanston. Every time I have ever been in, the staff has been incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. There seriously hasn't been a question about my dogs that they haven't been able to answer. The manager, Kristi, is literally a fount of knowledge but her staff Donna, Jenn, & Kieta also know their fair share. I love coming to visit the "greeters' too. It's hard to pick a favorite between Leo the bulldog, Graceland the newfie, Isaac the poodle or Rainbow the pitbull. The only downside I can think of is that the store has tinted windows so it's really hard to tell if they are open. I've driven right up to the curb and tried to peer in many times and chuckled as I've seen other customers do the same. It would be nice if they had an open sign. read more

I have an 8 month old Golden Doodle. Kris is absolutely the best groomer for doodles. Poor Beau had some nasty winter knats in his hair which would have required shaving. Kris spent the time and Beau was spared. Looked great when I picked him up. She also called ahead to warn me of the problem so I could prepare for a very skinny dog. Awful experience with Traci! Shaved my wheaten terrier down to where you can see his skin. Shaved his butt, even though asked not to. Made his face square, even though I showed a photo of how I would like him to look-and it wasn't like that. That can all grow back, in about 4 months--he has hair not fur! Here is the REAL PROBLEM WITH TRACI! She shaved his foot very close and got the mats out between his toes. Well, anyone familiar with dogs should/would know that in dogs that have hair, not fur (the one's that typically don't shed, poodle, wheaten, any doodle!) you leave the foot alone, not pick and shave down to the skin the individual toes. Result? Licking of the foot where it was skinned by scissors or a razor. To the point of needing vet care. NOT RECOMMENDING TRACI STAY AWAY NOT KNOWLEDGEABLE AND TO TOP IT OFF NOT TOO PLEASANT EITHER. Had a bad vibe that I should have listened to. read more

We love bringing Remington to be cleaned and cut here! Dakmara always does a wonderful job with him! She truly cares and seems like she loves him! Really pleased with the groomer! (but also love the retail store and just bought some much-needed dental care products thanks to the knowledgeable staff!). I have a VERY shaggy dog - just love that look, but that means matts! The groomer is terrific! I gave her permission (I so appreciate that she asked first!) to cut out mats (it's only hair) and she is an artist in trimming and skimming him to get rid of the mats; while keeping his coat and appearance just beautiful -- wonderfully shaggy, but clean, matt-free and beautiful! I really like that it is a small salon (maybe just the one groomer?) because my dog is not very fond of other dogs and this is perfect for him -- no chaos or competition, just a great, peaceful environment while an expert, caring groomer makes him look his best. The staff is very nice and store has a lot of goodies to pick from but I highly advise if you want to make a grooming appointment go in and check for availability. Their online information is very unreliable and rarely correct. They do have some products we like there. However driving out to the store to pickup some cat food only to find them closed 15 minutes before their stated closing time is unacceptable. They did crack the door to tell me "Sorry, nothing we can do, everything is shut down." Update: I did receive a correspondence from Kriser's concerned with my dissatisfaction. They assured my this was a once-a-year inventory activity. I was frustrated when initially posting this review, but they were very communicative and responsive to my concern. read more
