Ok....first thing...the supervisor yells at his staff in front of customers. I felt embarrassed for them. They all appeared to be working hard, they were all super sweet and attentive to the customers. But this dude...standing in the front of the store yelling at his staff...extremely unprofessional. I am a manager and I have managed people for over 15 years. If I needed to discipline or redirect an employee I wouldn't embarrass them in front of other people. I would walk up to them, pull them to the side and speak quietly with them but I would be encouraging. I bet he can't keep any employees here. If I walked in and saw my son being berated by this man, I'd have to have a few words with him myself. They all looked to be terribly frightened of him. I had ordered 10 dozen doughnuts in advance for an event. When I arrived to pick them up, I was told that my money was being refunded because the machine was broken. NO ONE CONTACTED ME. The manager didn't even offer an apology or try to assist me in coming up with Plan B. We ended up driving in the rain to another location 30 minutes away where that manager was more than helpful. Krispy Kreme is one of those places that you either love or hate. I've grown up on Krispy Kreme and I'm one of the diehards that will turn my nose up if you bring me a pink and orange box. When I read that Krispy Kreme was going to open a Concord location, I didn't give it much thought. That was until I read more about what this new location had to offer. It wasn't what I expected, actually it caught me off guard. A new design and for the first time in my life, more than just doughnut options. Okay, my interest was peaked. Open day was a bit overwhelming, so my wife and I decided to let the hype die down a bit. 2 weeks later, it's still kind of packed, but we were tired of waiting and needed our fix. Overall, we waited about 30-35 minutes to get our order. I did notice a lot of people using the mobile app for pickup orders and they stated that took around 10 minutes. So if you only want doughnuts, go that route. Once it was time to place our order, we decided early on that we wanted to try as many new items that we could handle. We went with a Double Chocolate Milkshake, Vanilla Fruity Crunch (scope sandwich), Strawberry Lemonade Chiller, and we made sure we got some doughnuts as well. The Milkshake was good, but I'm not sure I'd get it again. Not because it was bad, but I wasn't really into the richness of the chocolate. It reminded me of Starbucks hot chocolate, which some people might prefer. If anything, I'd just get a different flavor next time. The Strawberry Lemonade chiller was really good, but very sweet. I think on its own, it would be better. Mixing it with the other flavors from doughnuts to the shake didn't go over too well. But, that's a lesson learned. The Vanilla Fruity Crunch... let me pause for a second... okay... this thing right here! Again, this thing right here! Is where it's at! Normally when I get Fruity Pebbles on ice cream or cupcakes, it just isn't crunchy enough. This ice cream sandwich perfection that Krispy Kreme concocted is something that is a blessing and a curse. A blessing because it exist and a curse because now, no other ice cream sandwich is comparable. Who knew throwing some ice cream in between a doughnut and dipping it in some cereal would be this amazing. If you are just looking for some doughnuts, then expect what you always get from Krispy Kreme. They do have custom options as well, but I'd stick to the app for those. Thrilled to have a Krispy Kreme close by, but ugh, the service! At least the doughnuts were delicious. Even after waiting well over a month for the "new hype" to wear down, apparently,​ it wasn't enough. I stopped in on a Sunday, around 2 PM. The double drive-through didn't seem busy, so I pulled in the first lane. After waiting a couple of minutes​ and didn't move, I decided to park & go inside. The parking lot wasn't packed, so I thought I was in good shape. Boy was I wrong. I walked in & there was a line about 10 people deep. It crept. Yes, you do get to watch the doughnuts being made (which is pretty neat), but when you know exactly what you want & still have to wait, it's pretty annoying. And then they only had one person on the register. Not good customer service. As I said, the doughnuts (six glazed & three creme-filled​ chocolate)were delicious​ but it wasn't worth the wait. So this Location just opened up the end of July. And they are Busy!! It's a PERFECT location! So far I have only been through Drive-Thru. The lines are crazy long. The menu display is nice with photos of some donuts, BUT it does not show or list ALL the donuts that they offer. I ordered 50 dozen for a school event. I received an email confirming my order and also a voicemail Alex confirming my order for pickup at 12pm. There was a lot going on that day for us as a family, so my husband wasn't able to get to the store until 2pm. Our order wasn't ready and we were told that since we didn't get there at 12pm they sold our order. One of my questions is, how do you sell 50 dozen doughnuts in 2 hours on a Saturday during lunch hours. Also if you have a large order like that and the person hasn't shown up, wouldn't you call the customer to see when and if they are coming to pick up the order? They never had the order and proceeded to gaslight my husband into thinking it was his fault the order wasn't there. They have the absolute worst customer service I have ever encountered. Staff was super friendly and gave us the donuts right off the conveyer which has to be one of the best donuts we have ever eaten. They also offer ice cream which I believe is unique to krispy kreme. He refused to give me his name and referred to himself as the "Manager" and I literally had a question that would have taken 15 seconds of his time. I've tried to go once this week and do a DoorDash order a seconds time because according the email I received from Krispy Kreme, they will have pumpkin donuts through tomorrow. Terrible. Came inside for the first time and the dining room was full of people waiting. They have plenty of employees but they are all walking around confused or dancing. Like what is going on?! The Charlotte/Concord area is blessed with a pretty great donut scene. If I want an incredible chocolate cake donut I can drive a few miles down the road to The Donut Shop, or if I want a thick, delectable yeast donut topped with vanilla frosting and oreos I can go to OMG Donuts right down the street. Sometimes though, you just want a classic. A simple, light, sweet ring of happiness. My local favorites are better at a lot of different things, but when I think traditional glazed donut only two words come to mind. Krispy Kreme. Krispy Kreme is the OG when it comes to donuts. They've been around since 1937 and considering they started just a few hours up the road in Winston Salem I'm surprised it took them so long to put up a shop on this side of Charlotte. Speaking of shops, they went all out on this location. I've been to a few Krispy Kremes before and none of them were this nice. Most have very limited seating and only some have a view of the line. This location has indoor and outdoor seating, as much as some fast casual restaurants, and not only can you see the end of the line, the entire donut making process is on display in full view of every guest. I tried to get in here yesterday for the grand opening but the hype was a bit too much. A line of 200+ people and a parking lot swamped with cars being directed by police was a little too much excitement. I love donuts. I'm not going to wait 90 minutes for a couple donuts. Today was still busy, but much more tame. I think it only took about ten minutes to get in and out. Once you've made it to the front of the line you realize just how much effort they've put into this place. All the options and flavors you've come to expect are here, along with so much more. Fully customizable donuts (think Duck Donuts), donut ice cream sandwiches, and donut infused milkshakes. They even have traditional ring donuts filled with the cream they put in the round solid kind. Almost like a stuffed crust donut. All that pizazz is nice, but I came with a goal in mind. I got one regular glazed with chocolate frosting and one regular glazed fresh off the line. There really is no comparison to a fresh, warm donut you literally just saw being cooked and glazed 60 seconds ago. They legitimately melt in your mouth. It's like food dissolves and leaves only happiness. In case you can't tell I'm a huge fan. This store is a wonder to behold and they live up to the quality I expect when I think Krispy Kreme. Am I going to come here all the time? No. I love supporting my local donut shops, and there are so many around Charlotte to choose from, but if the craving arises you bet I'll be checking to see if that "Hot N Ready" sign is on. The woman in the drive thru gave me a strangers credit card and receipt. Shocked! That was after waiting in the drive thru line for 45 mins. Second visit I parked and went inside. My shoes stuck to the floor and the sound of my soles unsticking as I lifted each foot to take a step. This could be a serious problem for the elderly or people with walking disabilities. Time for safety training in your establishment. Inside there is no clear direction where you order or pay. Management needs to learn to teach as they manage staff. Keeping a clean mop when mopping cleans sugar up off floors. If needed, dump bucket of water often until the floors are free of sugar. Too many standing around when the trash receptacles needed dumping. Too much trash in the parking lot. Time to teach employees world ethic, take ownership. Your competition is up the street at OMG donuts and so far, I'd say you're overrated and I prefer the clean establishment and donuts at OMG. read more
