I remember going to this place when I lived in Texas. I was so excited to see they opened up a location here. While it's located off concord parkway, it is a little awkward to get there. Yet, once I walked in, I remembered why I loved this place. Everything is made fresh that morning and then again multiple times a day to ensure everyone has the best experience. Wanted to check out Shipley Do-nuts after discovering it driving on hwy 29 in Concord. It's visible from the road but you can easily miss the turn. When I went there was a mother and daughter working together. I assume they are the owners of this new donut shop. The main feature is their glazed donut. They are so light and airy - certainly not a dense donut. They use a proprietary yeast dough with a tasty glaze. You can add a topping as they offer several flavors - vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, cherry, Maple, etc. you can also get sprinkles on top! They also offer Kolaches. These are dough filled sandwiches. They look amazing and will have to try them another time. Check them out when you are in Concord. read more

I am so upset at myself for just now getting to try Shipleys. Customer service was on point as soon as I walked in. The young man at the front greeted me politely and I met the owner John, who was wonderful. They take pride in their ingredients, which is just wheat flour, water, yeast, sugar, shortening, and salt. Everything is made fresh there. KOLACHES, oh my!!! It was sooo good. My favorite is the Cheese and Jalepeno. I regret only getting 1 because I thought of it all day. The bread is so light and fluffy. Have you ever tried something because it was a trying price? Yeah well I did that this morning. I drive to Concord every morning and this morning I thought I need some coffee and a donut . So I stopped, I ordered a salted caramel frappe and a plain donut and a cinnamon roll. I really needed some coffee, I took a big sip and boy did I immediately regretted it. Not sure how milk, ice and sugar can taste burnt and salty all at the same time. But it does, it's by far the most disgusting mixture of those things plus coffee I've ever had in my life. I would not recommend this, I hope they aren't knowing for their coffee. And the donut was ok, I'm scared to try the cinnamon roll. But the employee was super sweet. read more

I just had a delightful experience at Shipley Do-Nuts!! First and foremost, the donuts were delicious. I tried both the classic and chocolate glazed, and the cake glazed. The classic and chocolate glazed were fluffy, light, chewy, and huge. And the cake glazed literally tasted like moist, soft cake in the shape of a donut. The best part is that all these donuts are apparently healthy too because most of their donuts are made with just: "wheat, flour, vegetable shortening, potato flour, soya flour, sugar, eggs, milk, and salt." They were really proud of that. I also got their KOLACHES. I wrote that in all caps because you must try them. I tried their bold sausage w/ cheese and jalapeno and the egg, sausage, w/ cheese. The egg, sausage, w/ cheese was the showstopper because it was giant and bursting with filling. But I personally preferred the sausage w/ cheese and jalapeno because sausage in hotdog form is supreme and the jalapeno had a nice kick. I also want to give a shoutout to the young lady that was working the counter today. She was full of energy, very friendly, and extremely knowledgeable. Final notes: the prices are great and there's indoor seating too! All in all, Shipley Do-Nuts is a solid five stars. And I look forward to my next visit. :) read more

Finally got to try Shipley and I was very impressed. I placed an order online and everything was ready when I arrived. The inside is bright, shiny and very inviting. Everyone working was nice and helpful. I only tried one of the 2 dozen doughnuts I got but everyone who tried one had no complaints. All of the doughnuts looked delicious. I created my own sample box and was very excited by all of the options they had available. I tried the Blueberry glazed cake doughnut. It had just the right amount of sweetness and was a perfect texture. My dad ate 4 plus of the doughnuts and he could have kept going. We also got the hot dog kolache, hot dog and cheese kolache and the sausage, egg and cheese kolache. I sampled each of these and they were tasty. The hot dog alone had more flavor than the hot dog and cheese kolache. When I sampled the sausage egg and cheese one it was cold. It wasn't bad but I would prefer this one hot. Overall I hate that this location is so far away. I love doughnuts and would love to visit more often. I hope they open more locations in the charlotte area. Amazing fresh donuts in Concord! Came here because I had a 4th of July deal, 2 dozen for $17.76. I was surprised that they had so many flavors and none were sold out! The staff was super friendly and helpful and the place was nice and clean as well. I ordered a bunch of different flavors. I loved them all. My favorite was the devils food chocolate filled and cream chocolate filled. They had a good amount of filling and weren't overly sweet. I also loved the glazed blueberry cake and Bavarian cream. I lived in Texas for 4 years, and absolutely loved Shipley when I was introduced to it there. I was sad to leave as I knew I wouldn't have Shipley anymore. To my surprise, I saw a post on Facebook last night, looked up the Concord location, and jumped in the car this morning to go get some kolache. Kolache is basically an oversized Texas Roadhouse roll stuffed with breakfast food. I got the bacon, egg and cheese. So soft, filling and delicious! I also got some donuts for my family to try. This was my first visit to any Shipley's Donut ever and I am a fan! There are 3 ways to order: drive-thru, in-store or online. We decided to go inside for our first visit. There are a few parking spaces on the side, but more spaces are available in the back. Since most visits should be pretty quick, there are no customer restrooms inside. There is bar-style seating for up to 10 people. The menu includes the basic hot drinks (coffee, hot chocolate, and cappuccino) and several cold beverage options (cold brew, frappe, and refreshers). They also have bottled drinks for sale. I tried their house-blend coffee with a flavored creamer. It was pretty good and reasonably priced. Now for the actual donuts. They offer a great variety of donut options without being too overwhelming. I chose the apple-filled donut and the glazed blueberry cake donut. They were serious about their filled donuts. I tasted the apple filling on the first bite and it was absolutely delicious The blueberry cake was pretty awesome as well. I tried a bite of my husband's classic donut and it did not disappoint. Did I mention that everything is made fresh by hand?! From the moment we walked in, they provided the best customer service. We had the pleasure of being served by the owner. I was so excited to try this place, especially given the reviews, but the kid working was SO unpleasant. I was the only one in there and he didn't even say hi or greet me. He just dragged his feet up from the back and stared at me waiting for me to order. They were all out of all 3 donut flavors I came for which was a huge bummer. The 2 I got were ok. Tried out the newest donut shop in town today. As far as customer service, 5 stars all the way. The young staff greeted us as soon as we walked in. Smiles on all the faces. At first glance, the small yet efficient store looked clean and cute. We told the servers it was our first time there and they gave us a short history of the Shipley brand. We looked over the donuts and my husband and I each picked out a donut. We sat down at the long bar that runs along the store front windows. The whole counter needed a wipe down. There was either chocolate or powder sugar at each chair. The donuts were good. Fresh and tasty. Were they the best donuts in town? No. But for a change of pace I can see hitting them up again. This place is incredible. The staff is awesome, and the community involvement efforts are especially appreciated . I also appreciate that every time I walk in I am greeted by all and it feels like a family run business that really is doing it right. Everyone is so pleasant and helpful and it is really hard to choose anywhere else to go because of the amazing experience I have every time. That's ALL before I talk about THE FOOD!!! The donuts and Kolaches are fresh and delicious. You get a cool peek inside the cooking process as the kitchen is open and the display is always filled with delicious offerings. The donuts here are delicious. Not overly sweet like Krispy Kreme (no hate to KK, but Shipley's is better). Donuts are fluffy on the inside. Fresh! And the breakfast kolache.. yum! My family loves donuts and we were so excited to see a new one opening up. The donut flavors are your typical ones except for the cherry flavored. We ended up trying the glaze, chocolate frosted, strawberry frosted and raspberry filled. All of the frosted fruit ones are made with real fruit and you can taste it. We thoroughly enjoyed these donuts. I gave it a 4 because it was our first time going and we felt rushed even though we were the only ones in the store. Visited this location for the first time today. I grew up in Houston and am so happy that Shipley's has made it to NC. Pros: the icings (chocolate and strawberry) and glaze are just as I remembered, so good. The egg and cheese kolache had a very nice flavor. Cons: they are not frying the donuts long enough and the kolache was a little undercooked too. Everything should be a little more golden brown. I came all the way from Tampa Florida to treat my children to Shipley's . It has always been a big part of my childhood in Mississippi and today I was able to share it with my children. Tried Shipley Do-Nuts via the drive thru around 7pm since the parking lot was empty and nobody in the drive thru. We ordered a dozen donuts and drove-up to pay. $20 for a dozen so we were expecting some very good do-nuts when we got home! Once I handed my credit card to the cashier, she asked if I wanted to add a tip? This is the first time I have been asked verbally to add a tip while a cashier was handling my card before proceeding to process the transaction. It's usually via a point of sale system and it "ask a question" for tipping based on service. I'm sorry, no tip for giving me do-nuts at the drive thru and haven't even tried the product yet? By the way, when we got home we were very disappointed with the donuts. Very similar to grocery store do-nuts or even Dunkin type donuts. Nothing fresh or delicious about these do-nuts and definitely not worth the $20/dozen price tag, before tips!! I was hoping for a OMG type doughnut or something to rival Krispy Kreme at this price point. read more

We went inside and they didn't have any other customers, but no one acknowledged us or even greeted us for a good while, not even the lady that appeared to be in management. The food is okay and store clean (probably because it newly opened) but the service needs MUCH improvement. read more

I'll try again to see the improvement over time. First visit was a drive off, they didn't know menu and the person who did told me they didn't have any of their best selling kolache.
