Another return trip to Vegas, staying here this past week at Excalibur, I frequented this location several times. Generally well served and consistent product. Prices are getting ever more unreasonable though. They could do with improving their register system. It is quite challenged when it comes to scanning for rewards accounts and gift cards. The inadequacy of the system slows down completing transactions and slows down servicing the growing line of customers stacking up behind you. It's 2026! They have a large variety of donuts that all seem fresh! For the holidays they have pretty festive colored frosting and sprinkles as well as the standard donuts too. They are located in the food court between Luxor and Excalibur and didn't have a long line around 8pm not around 12pm the two times we went there. When the Las Vegas Golden Knights snap, crackle, and pop the visiting team in a shut out game Rice Krispy Treats are not the reward. It is Doughnut Krispy treats from Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. When the Las Vegas Golden Knights achieve a shut out, the attendees are awarded with a box of dozen glazed donuts. Believe me that when the Las Vegas Golden Knights conquered the opposing team in a Playoffs game my brother and I took advantage of this award. The Excalibur Food Court Krispy Kreme has been around long before the Las Vegas Golden Knights were born and when Merlin the Wizard stood guard above the Castle's moat. It goes back as far as 2003 when my friends and I flew into Las Vegas to see the Billy Joel & Elton John "Face to Face" concert. The day after I'd come face to face with my first Krispy Kreme doughnut. If Yelp was around then I'd give it four stars. This Excalibur Food Court Krispy Kreme of 2003 and several years later had a far larger footprint than it does today. In similar style to many of the Krispy Kreme outlets this location included a Bakery where they made the doughnuts. It took up a decent block parcel of the food court. I remember when walking by it that there was a plate glass window displaying the doughnuts that employees had brought to life. This was a far busier Krispy Kreme with more workers and less competition for the Coffee dollar. In these days Starbucks was yet to become a household name. The day after the Las Vegas Golden Knights game my brother and I entered the Excalibur Castle to partake in the reward. Before that I partook in the theme. A nice thing about the Excalibur is that the theme is still alive. This creates an upbeat vibe. The Castle theme permeates the food court. How many Krispy Kremes can you think of that are in a castle? In other words it is a fun spot to pick up doughnuts. That is when they do not run out. They ran out! When we visited around 11 A.M., the one employee informed us that they will have glazed doughnuts at noon. The promotion features one glazed flavor. So my brother and I walked through the attached Luxor and Mandalay Bay and after the buffet overlooking a faux Hawaii beach and a stroll through a pyramid when we returned to the castle they were ready. All this walking through casino resorts leads me to a valid point. On account of all the walking on the Las Vegas Strip, it is easy to burn off calories from the doughnut(s). And on account of a Starbucks in the same food court, it is easy to complement the glazed dougnut(s) with a cup of premium coffee. What is not easy is being the one employee working here. I attribute this to the one woman working here being far less enthusiastic than the Golden Knights fans flicking to this location. By now the glazed doughnuts were ready. Although she wasn't the friendliest person, she complied with my brother's request to separate the dozen doughnuts into two boxes. Far from the Excalibur Castle in my Las Vegas burb I felt like the King of my Castle delighting in the delicious glazed doughnuts. I'd start off the morning with one and conclude the night with another. Doughnuts are comfort food to the extreme. Starting off the day with one makes me realize how they start off the morning to a great start. Especially when I will be burning off the calories throughout the day. If I forgot what I learned at the Brews and Boos Yelp Event, a Krispy Kreme with beer reaffirmed me that doughnuts and beer go good together. Whereas it is easy for me to burn off the calories from an early morning doughnut, it is difficult to burn off the Yelp character limit. In the final characters of this review, I will summarize it by saying that I am a fan of the Krispy Kreme glazed doughnut. read more
