I was heading out of town for the holidays and wanted to take advantage of a Krispy Kreme offer: Free Peanuts Christmas Doughnut with any purchase. It was the last day this offer was active, and since I was passing by this Krispy Kreme in Mission Viejo, I figured I'd stop by this location to see how it would compare to the others I've been to before. Unfortunately, as convenient as the location is being right off the 5 freeway, I don't think I'll be making a return visit to this location anytime soon. This Krispy Kreme in Mission Viejo is located on El Paseo, which runs parallel to the freeway for the most part. Oso Parkway would be the closest exit, where you'd head west and make an immediate right on Cabot before another quick right on El Paseo. As soon as I came in, I was met by a line with a huge separation between customers that I almost thought there were two lines! I momentarily stepped out of line just so I could see the Peanuts Christmas Doughnuts that were offered, but didn't realize I almost made it look like I was cutting in line! The employees there were sooooooooooooo slow at servicing the customers inside the shop that even the customer behind me complained at how long it took for us to get served. Granted, this location does have a drive-thru, but it felt like the employees were putting their full focus on filling boxes of doughnuts for the drive-thru customers while nearly neglecting the customers waiting by the front counter. The customer in front of me was standing so far back from the register that I couldn't even see the drinks part of the menu. She was placing a pretty big order of doughnuts, so I had to wait even longer for another employee (Rilee?) to assist me. Rilee had such a soft voice that unfortunately proved to be a high communication barrier between us. It took her a while to understand that I wanted the Snoopy Cookies & Kreme Doughnut for my free Peanuts Christmas doughnut. I thought she would have rung me up, but she said something to me before running off. I could barely hear her, but it sounded like she didn't have the credentials to ring me up, perhaps another sign of dysfunctionality with the staff working that day. A different employee, Meghan, ended up assisting me, and she was much more customer-oriented, but made an oversight on my coffee order. I wanted the Classic Brewed Coffee, and their menu only showed the price for Medium. When I asked how much more a Large would have been, she said it was only ten cents more than the Medium when I was expecting twenty cents, so without even asking to see the sizes, I went with the Large. It took her a couple of minutes to prepare my hot coffee, but she omitted asking if I'd like some sugar and/or cream to go with my coffee. I would have preferred cream, but no sugar. Unfortunately, their counter by the side exit only had napkins, coffee stirrers, and sugar, but no cream, so I was left without any cream for my coffee. I could have asked, but had already been displeased with how the employees focused too much on transferring doughnuts to and from the display case while not keeping an eye on the line. Most of the Snoopy Cookies & Kreme Doughnuts on display looked pretty droopy (thanks Kimberly L for the rhyme!). At least the effort was there? However, once my droopy Snoopy doughnut was placed inside the takeout bag, the face was even more disfigured with the eyes and the nose smushed from the plastic; only the ear remained intact, and it almost looked like a propeller blade instead. At least the Cookies & Kreme taste was there, but the flavored filling inside the donut wasn't nearly as flavorful; with how underwhelming my experience was overall, I wouldn't be surprised if Charlie Brown ended up disappointed as well. I probably would have liked his namesake ornament doughnut better; that has brownie batter flavored filling. Their other two Peanuts Christmas Doughnuts are Santa Belly and Christmas Wreath. As with any Krispy Kreme you go to, I like going inside to see the doughnut making process. They even had a narrow, but elevated platform for the kiddos to see this process up close! It would definitely get their attention while you're waiting in line to order your sweet treats. They also have a grab & go section of refrigerated bottled drinks between the doughnuts and the register. I previously mentioned the drive-thru in this review, but if you don't want to go inside, they also have an outdoor patio consisting of a few tables that you can sit at while your friends/family go inside to place their order(s). Overall, my experience at the Mission Viejo Krispy Kreme was pretty disappointing. This is one of two locations in Orange County by the 5 freeway, or three if you include the one inside Amazon Fresh at The Market Place in Irvine. I don't know if that location would honor an offer like the one I redeemed at this location, but even if it doesn't, I'm more likely going to visit that Krispy Kreme over this one.

Drive-thru service was excellent at 10pm! I was needing a sweet treat and the server helped me decide on two mini donuts! Neon signs saying "doughnut" red font saying Krispy Kreme and a bill under $3 for two donuts?! That's my kind of Saturday night ambiance.

Love this place. Nothing brightens up my day more than a fresh donut. The staff is always helpful. What is there to be mad about? Eat a donut and love your day :)

We got donuts for our daughter's birthday and the donut holes are a joke. Squished? Half eaten? Not sure but poor quality. $50 something dollars for 1 dozen full size donuts and 16 mini donuts and 24 donut holes. That's crazy. Not impressed at all.

Had a wonderful experience! My rating is a bit low because I'm not a big donut person but my kiddos are. We tried the Oreo donuts and it say it was a 7/10. Service was amazing! The young lady was so patient with us and gave us free samples. I love looking through the donut making window. The place has lots of indoor seating and some outside.

Meghan was great: accurately took and placed the orders. Very calm and very pleasing. Also love e their new donuts just in time for the summer!

Today Krispy Kreme is offering FREE Original Glazed Donuts in celebration for REAL ID. I arrived at this location and asked the guy at the counter if they were giving away free donuts. He said "As long as you have a REAL ID". But I showed him the photo saying "No Real ID". He insisted a couple more times that I had to show my Real ID in order to get a Free donut in spite of Krispy Kreme's statement on their promotion. I walked out. God led me to their website. I saw the disclaimer in which I added a screenshot for you to see, where it says specifically no Real Id needed. I went back in and spoke with Marie this time. She was more open and helpful and I thank her for listening to me. I showed her the website and she was confused too. She must've not understood Krispy Kreme's message in whether a customer NEEDS to present their ID or not. She did her best to explain why the guy must've asked for my ID, due to misunderstanding. I hope that Krispy Kreme does a better job in communication with their employees when they have these promotions. The donut was good though! Birthday 2025 Haul: Shout out to Reagan for being super helpful with my questions. Being a rewards member has its perks! From special discounts, early access to specialty donuts, to free donuts on your birthday who could say no? For my bday, i was gifted 3 original glazed donuts. They were fresh, warm, and soo savory. Truly thankful for this treat. Customer service at drive through 5/5 , will be back.

Oh my. Krispy Kreme's doughnut maker is currently broken and they are not making any donuts at all right now. 1/5/25 10:35am Call before you go to make sure the machine is working again. Other than that, the donuts are excellent, especially when they're hot.

This is the worst Krispy Kreme location. The staff is so sloppy and careless. We went to go get a dozen donuts and they took forever to even acknowledge the customers to the point where two groups left. They were not even busy and had multiple employees inside. They finally got me a pre boxed of 12 glazed. I was so disappointed when I opened the box to find the ugliest looking donuts. They looked so stale and the image is after I asked the staff to replace the ones that should have been rejects. They told me "they get smaller towards the end of the day" Excuse me? Where is the quality control? They were indeed stale and gross Not returning to this location.

We also ordered a simple ham and cheese omelette, served with a side of their sliced baguette -- again assuming was fresh baked, because it was delicious. Simple dish, done right, which honestly says a lot about a kitchen. But the danishes stole the show. We grabbed a few to try, and the blueberry one was outstanding -- like, stopped-mid-conversation-to-comment-on-it good. Not overly sweet, good fruit-to-pastry ratio, perfect texture. Ariana helped us and was an absolute sweetheart -- even let us sample a pastry we were debating on before we committed. That kind of thing goes a long way, especially when you're trying to decide between six things that all look amazing in the case. Atmosphere was great too, comfortable spot to sit and eat instead of just grab-and-go. Will definitely be back to work through the rest of the pastry case. 10/10. When the employee asked what size I wanted, I repeated "tall" three times and even spelled it out, but there still seemed to be confusion. She then pointed to the cup sizes on the counter, so I clarified that I wanted the large iced latte instead. While I was paying by card, the employee walked away and returned in just a few seconds before I had finished the payment screen, which prevented me from completing the option to have my receipt sent to me. When I asked for my receipt, the interaction felt abrupt and unnecessarily reactive. At that point, I decided to skip it, waiting for my iced latte and then leave. I'm not sure whether the background music was too loud, the employee was having a difficult day, or there was simply a communication breakdown. Regardless of the reason, the overall customer service felt rushed and unwelcoming. In fact, there were not many customers in the shop at noon. I hope management provides additional training and support to help create a more positive customer experience.
