These donuts are so sweet that every time I just step in the front door I get a toothache. Is it just me? Not all donut shops are this sweet. These donuts are as light as air and a bit on the gummy side. You can take them home and zap them with the microwave for 60 seconds and they are the same gummy light consistency. Needless to say not my favorite donuts - I prefer some that are heavier, less greasy and less sugary... believe it or not I prefer donuts from Luckys or Safeway. Both of those chain supermarkets have donuts I prefer and both are drastically different. Luckys lighter... Safeway heavier. The best part of this store is the ambiance, location near the movie theater, and the big window to watch the donuts being formed and cooked. Around the holidays they have donuts decorated as bears to capture some of holiday season right there in your donuts... I like that too. Ive been countless times since they have been open over the years. I will be back even though I don't think its a 5 star establishment. My family LOVES Krispy Kreme, so we frequent here a lot - especially when they have such a good Groupon offer! Last night was one of our adventures to go get donuts, but we were really disappointed. The hot & fresh light wasn't on so we weren't expecting warm donuts; however, the donuts we got were FREEZING COLD! Like they've been in the refrigerator!! My kids didn't want to eat them, and what kid doesn't like donuts?! I go inside to ask for some warmer (not expecting hot, but at least room temperature) donuts and eventually asked for the supervisor on duty. Melissa came out and explains that since it's a groupon offer, we can't get a refund for the donuts. Understandable. Eventually after talking to her, it comes out that at 6:30pm on a Sunday, we were served donuts that were made at noon - and the reason that they were so cold is because the lobby doors are open and it's cold outside. First of all, this has to be some kind of health code violation that the temperature from the doors being opened affects the temperature of the donuts being served. Secondly, I know I'm not the only person disappointed that our donuts were ice cold! All of the workers were bundled up in layers and thick jackets, so they also knew how cold it was inside. We waited in the area until the hot sign was on so we could get warm donuts. But when I went back inside to get the warm donuts, staff was touching the piece that holds all the glaze to glaze the donuts, and they weren't wearing gloves. That's really unsanitary, especially with COVID. It's hard when you live out of the area, but moral of the story - if its cold outside, only come when the hot and fresh sign is on. I had to wait for the manager who had to apparently go to Home Depot to get a replacement part for their equipment. Original donuts are made all day long, so you can usually get them warm. They have pre-packed assorted and original, so it's quick to run in and grab a dozen of those. If you're going to pick and choose, it takes a bit longer. Espresso drinks are delicious - they use Ghirardelli chocolate, so ++ there, but they don't always have nonfat milk. I never really spent time in Union city unless I am passing through to Fremont or stopping by to get Krispy Kreme doughnuts. The hot and fresh donuts are amazing and dangerous because they disappear like cotton candy, melting in your mouth as soon as you bite them. I like to get the Groupon that allows you to get two dozen for $12 to make my trip down a little lighter on my wallet. You can also upgrade to variety/specialty donuts with a three dollar surcharge which is still an incredible deal. There's usually a line but it moves fairly quickly so do not be discouraged and please be patient with your servers as they try to feed the masses lol. read more

I normally go to the mom & pop donuts shops but I came here because this is what my mother-in-law likes. I went through the drive-thru and I swear it took incredibly LOOOOONNNNGGGG! There's literally one car ahead of me. I can hear the "Jeopardy" song playing in my head. Growing up, I've only tasted Krispy Kreme from grocery stores (when they used to sell them in stores) and never liked them.. until I tried an actual in-house one! I have to start by saying I LOVE Krispy Kreme. I first tried Krispy Kremes in Missouri back in the 90s and since then have been a huge fan. The people working at the locations in the Midwest (as well as the ones in Southern California) were always friendly. They greet you with a smile when you walk in. If there is wait they don't hesitate to hand you a complimentary original glazed (sometimes they give you one if you don't have to wait). Certainly when you purchase a large number of donuts they are nice and offer an extra donut or 2 or some donut holes. This location lacks all the friendliness and generosity that I have come to associate with Krispy Kreme. The people working here barely make eye contact with you. They are clearly not enjoying themselves. How can one be surrounded by the smell of sugar syrup and not be happy? I usually buy 4-8 dozen donuts when I come here for coworkers. They have never given me an extra donut as a thank you. I even asked a couple of times and was told "Krispy Kreme does not do that." It would be a nice gesture especially when I am regularly buying a lot of donuts. They also argue with you when you ask them to scan your rewards account claiming you will not get points on certain purchases (which is incorrect since my points balance goes up). They have also tried at times to not give me a receipt with the survey on it (that gives you a discount on a future purchase). Its the only location near my home so I don't have much of a choice if I want to buy Krispy Kremes for my co-workers. I wish they would take the staff to a midwest location to see how it is supposed to be done. read more

Truth be told, the doughnuts here have the same standardized taste and texture you would expect from any other KK location; what I love about this one, however, is simply that it's in my neck of the woods. With a fairly wide variety of choices including filled, glazed, cake batter, and seasonal doughnuts (designed to resemble footballs, hearts, pumpkins, etc), there's a little something for everyone. Granted, there aren't any particularly out-of-the-box flavors, but sometimes you just want a good, no-fuss-no-frills fried piece of carb. A little heads up: be sure to look out for the "Hot Doughnuts" neon sign! When that thing is on, it's hard for a sweet tooth like me to pass it up. Like a bug drawn to light. Quite literally. I came here after I made a purchase at Jollibee's. Krispy Kreme and Jollibee being right next to each other, what a sweet treat! When it comes to their doughnuts, I've always been a fan. My first taste of Krispy Kreme was the original glazed, and let me tell you, just one bite of that heavenly goodness, I was sold; completely sold! As if my taste buds can only and will only stay faithful to the taste of this famous doughnut. This doughnut spotlight is spacious with plenty of tables, and lots of space to just kick it with friends and family. There's also a few tables outdoor with large umbrella shades to go with it. Pretty cool, huh? I like that. Furthermore, it's clean, friendly environment, and very inviting too. The server came to my attention as soon as I walked in. She was friendly, smiled at me and happy to help. I ordered three original glazed (of course, how could I not? It was a love at first taste for me with just one bite of it!) and one chocolate kreme-filled. Each doughnut is $1.29, and I think that's fairly reasonable because of its good quality. The original glazed was delightful, sweet but not overwhelming, soft, crispy, and a guilty pleasure indeed! The chocolate kreme-filled was delicious and yummy perfectly combined with the chocolate coating. The kreme-filling wasn't too greasy or too gooey, except that it was a bit too sweet for me, though it wasn't a big deal as I was glad I only purchased one because I could only handle just one. Overall, Krispy Kreme is a doughnut place that you've got to try, even if it's just once. You won't regret it! You can't go wrong with their ring-shaped sweetened dough called the "original glazed." Been here a few times. The donuts are pretty average here except ... if you're lucky enough to get the raised donuts pretty much right out of the fryer. In that case, the donuts just melt in your mouth and the three star experience becomes a five star yelp experience. Easy parking, good service. This specific krispy kreme location has been in my childhood for as long as I can remember. The machinery that carries the raw donut dough from top to bottom, and then into the fryer, floating towards the glorious icing waterfall icing is something I have watched every time I visit. The smells from the freshly made original glazed donuts usually makes it way towards those waiting in line--it's quite torturous actually, especially if there aren't many left and someone orders a dozen. From what I can see, there is one thing I'm glad never changed: the godly original glaze. I remember back in the days, they used to hand out samples of freshly made original glaze donuts. I will never forget the first time I had the warm, sweet, soft feeling of the glazed, godly donut in my mouth. Everything about it was perfect--the taste, the smell, how perfect it looked, the feel. No one else makes an original glaze like Krispy Kreme does. I also really appreciate how the workers get the original glaze donuts for the customers. The workers always go for the freshly made original glazed donuts instead of the ones sitting in the display. They understand exactly what we came here for. As for the other donuts, I used to get the chocolate glazed a lot when I was a kid, but now it's too sweet for me to handle. I recently tried the blueberry glaze...it was definitely less sweet and still good if you're craving a dense dessert. Any of the jelly-filled donuts are not my thing, so I never get them. Some of the cereal/oreo topped filled donuts are also on the sweeter side. Customer service is pretty good, the wait isn't bad, donuts are pretty awesome (especially original glaze), and the prices aren't too bad for the quality. We reminisced about the days when this place was relevant back in the late 90s. We lollygagged for a few minutes being indecisive while the server looked somewhat impatient. Ultimately, the three of us decided to split a dozen. We asked if we could order a dozen split into three boxes. The man didn't take kindly to this and seemed exasperated. He mumbled something about having only 2 boxes. Then he changed it to say each box held 6. Anyhow, the man eventually capitulated and gave us what we wanted. The three of us all had to get the seasonal pumpkin spice cake donut and we each got a variety of others. After we paid, the man seemed to have a complete 180. Sometimes when you buy a dozen, they throw in an extra 1 for you. The man actually gave us 3, a pleasant surprise. Now we had our desserts without even opening the boxes we got. Based on the server's attitude alone, this place salvaged a 3 from a 2. Why only 3 stars?
