I decided to get Krispy Krunchy chicken with a friend who has never had it, when we entered the facility, the gentleman behind the counter was texting or browsing on something on his phone, after a few seconds of watching him while we are trying to figure out what we want to eat, we see him touch his nose, after touching his nose, he was on his phone again, right before the food was ready to be taken out of the fryer he touches his hair and rubs his face and then picks up the food basket. There's so much hype about Krispy Krunchy that I had to try it out. I mean what started as infamous gas station fried chicken to being so popular that it actually have store fronts now. That means it has to be good right?? So, there were two big things that really peeved me and made me not happy. Let me start from the beginning, I placed my order online on their website. The website states if you order online, you'll get a 5% discount. I check outline and there's a "Support Local Fee" of 95 cents. Upon reading more about the fee it says "This small fee helps us develop the new tech and services that keeps pizzerias thriving." I don't even know based on that description how it helps local. But whatever, I accepted it and threw in a tip too to help support. And yes, the 5% discount was included when I placed the online order. The website gave me a 30-40 min eta for the food to be done. I got to Krispy Krunchy exactly 35 mins after I placed the order. The store had 3 employees and one guy waiting for his food. I walk up to tell them I'm here to pick up my online order. They tell me it's still being worked on, and will be done in a few minutes. That few minutes turned into 30 mins!!! I basically got my food a hour after placing the order online. That is just crazy considering the workers were just chilling there. They were all waiting for the chicken to finish frying from the machine or something. And it didn't seem like they were crazy busy to me. It was just that one guy waiting for his food. (He got his food 15 mins after I walked in btw) I mean that's just absurd to me that 5 pc hot wings, 12 pc dark meat, and family sized fries would take a hour to make. That's crazy right?! Especially from a fried chicken speciality place. What made me angry though was when I looked that menu. I had all that time waiting for my food to come. I looked at their menu displayed on the tv screens. That's when I realized the prices there are cheaper than their online prices. Yes, if you order online they have the prices marked up a few dollars. Even with the 5% online ordering discount, it still costs more to order online than at the store. Like come on, that's so misleading. You think you're saving money by ordering online and than in person. Nope, not the case at all. The support local fee is probably a lie too. The only reason it's not one star is that the fried chicken was actually good. It really is super crispy and hard, and the insides was very juicy. Was my whole ordeal worth it? Definitely not. But the chicken is their only saving grace for not being a total bust of an experience. If the whole process was faster and smoother, I probably would have given this place 5 stars. But.... I just can't based on my experience. P.S the fries are not good. It's basically massive wedges. They're so big that flavors don't properly get distributed on the fries. I keep on hearing about this gas station fried Chicken, so yesterday while driving through San Leandro I made it a point to get off the Freeway and stop at Krispy Krunchy Chicken on 14th Street. I've read the Yelp listings and reviews of this chain don't have eating areas and are only take out joints. Sketchy location but the store was clean and organized. The chicken is as billed Krispy because the batter is thick and floury. The coating is good with seasonings, but they offer a variety of dipping sauces BBQ, Honey Mustard, House Original, and the best Crystals Hot Sauce. The chicken is moist on the inside. (White meat) it's better then the dark. Only had the chicken and did not have any of the other items. Prices are on par with other fast food fried chicken restaurants. The locations are not in nice neighborhoods and if your gonna eat in the car the crumbs get everywhere. Minus star for take out only. read more

Since I tried KKC at the Hesperian, mind as well try the other location right?! They have pizza there too! Parking is a bit limited but not difficult since the place is only for togo orders. You go, pickup, then leave. They some snacks for purchase and some milk shakes available but the down side to this location was the wait time is a bit longer. At least longer than the other location I went to. Food tasted about the same but we ordered 5 pc shrimp this time. The 5pc shrimp came with wedge fries and honey biscuits. This was the upsetting part. When I pulled out the basket with the 5pc shrimp and fries, I thought it was just all fries, WHERES THE SHRIMP?! Oh. They are 5 TINY shrimps. Combined, they are the size of the biscuit. For $5.99, totally not worth it. So skip out on the shrimp and order more chicken. read more

I'm always on the lookout for new fried chicken joints. I love fried chicken and am always so excited when I find a new place to try. These types of fried chicken joints, the ones that are in gas stations, etc always have the best most crispy and juicy fried chicken!! It is never too salty either, I don't like KFC or popeyes because its always so salty I get super bloated after eating it. I also am not a huge fan of places that charge like $20 for a piece of chicken and waffle. Krispy Krunchy chicken has several locations in the bay area, oakland, hayward, san leandro and hunters point!! They have really affordable prices and also offer deals / family packs. This location also has indian pizza as well! I will definitely be back to try their indian pizza, I grabbed an 8 piece dark meat, and 3 honey butter biscuits. This is a to go only restuarant btw! The chicken here doesn't have an excessive amount of breading, but the breading itself was super tasty and not that salty. The meat was really juicy and not salty at all either! The honey butter biscuits here are so soft and pillowey, and super addicting, you can easily eat 6 of them at once. I will be back to try their pizza and wings !! read more

I live in San Jose, but I drive all the way to this location because they are the best in the business. I know it's a franchise, but for some reason the chicken taste a lot better here. Every time I go over there, everyone greets me like they know me, even though I don't recognize anybody. Also, the fact that they serve pizza now makes it that much better. 5 star chicken, my favorite fried chicken I've had. 4 star service. I don't like waiting so i do what any person would do if they don't like to wait...order ahead of time. This place, i call and they ask you to pay over the phone, whatever not a problem. Then they don't understand the numbers you're saying so now you have to come in anyways and order, and wait for the food to be ready. That alone is inconvenient and costs a star. The first time i called it was an hour or so before they closed and they said to pay over the phone because it's too close to closing and they don't want to be stuck with unpaid chicken if i didn't come, which is understandable. Now i call at 4 pm and they still ask you to still pay over the phone and they won't start making your order til it's paid. If you have anything more than a 12 piece expect to wait 20-30 min, not to mention the area it's in, is a little sketchy. Ordered my 16 piece 4:04pm, food in hand at 4:38pm... So while yes it's nice that it's extra hot when it comes out, the wait is too long. read more

This location is horrible. The chicken was unseasoned and had a burnt taste like it was cooked in old oil. The red beans and rice looked like pudding. Just absolutely disgusting. We threw everything out. In the past I've ordered from KKC on doordash and sometimes it was delicious and other times it was gross. I finally realized that every time it was gross, it was because it was coming from this particular location. My thoughts were reaffirmed when my bf went in-person to order from this location. We contacted the store and politely told them the food was unacceptable and asked if they could do anything to make it right. They said there was nothing they could do. My family tried this place because of various food cravings. I must say the quality of the food varied wildly. We ordered a full family meal via delivery from the San Leandro store: The Good Stuff. The chicken, biscuits and shrimp were as good as advertised, and satisfied our cravings for those. Meh. The mashed potatoes were your standard boxed type potatoes - neither good nor bad. We wanted to try the Potato Salad, but it did not get included in our order (we did get a refund for that.) Now on to the BAD STUFF. The pizza was dry, way overbaked and about as chewy as the box it came in. You could use it to make houses (we did). The "F'Real Milkshakes" are actually false advertising. They are premade frozen smoothies with a very artificial flavor - no milk in them. These should be relabeled since they are fraudulently described. The Peach Cobbler - it was a greasy, gelatinous, doughy blob in a cup - completely inedible. The slice of cheesecake we were given instead of carrot cake had a thick black hair stuck in it, ewwww. read more

I stopped in for the first time. Got a 12 piece tenders meal. There was a little wait, but that was b/c it was fresh. Why 5 stars? The chicken was really good. I got hooked up with a few extra tenders!!! The biscuits were really good. I also got a couple different sauces for dipping. The guy working the cash register was cool. The potato wedges were good and not soggy. The size of the potato wedges in the meal was HUGE! The food weighed about 10 pounds all together!! I have no idea if that is an accurate assessment, but it was HEAVY! I would definitely go back for the tenders. A friend asked him how they compare to popeyes. He honestly answered that the chicken is definitely better, but popeyes has a better chicken sandwich. There wasn't much else I could have asked for in my visit. This is almost like Popeyes, crispy crunchy yes, even more so maybe, and with pretty strong flavor. However it has the same problem as Popeyes that it lacks moisture. Ordered DoorDash original wings and their original sauce on the side. 10 wings was like $12 I believe. Was expecting unbreaded wings, especially since they offered crunchy wings as an option. I was not sure if they were breaded or not, but they were soggy and not crispy. Chicken tasted alright, but the lack of a good crunchy skin made them far below average. Have been wanting to come here for sometime now, have heard great things about this "gas station" brand chicken. This location is easy to find, parking is not a problem, located with a gas station and a small liquor corner store. The inside of the shop is really nice and clean. The workers were nice and friendly. This location offers KKC, fusion pizza, deserts, milk shakes and drinks. The biscuts are really good, move over Poppeys bisckets, these right here are sweet and not choke till you die dry, no butter or honey needed. The chicken is good, their batter season blend is on point, I did prefer the wing to the thigh. Just came in for chicken and the biscuit but for will be coming to try other things. The food's great, but who knows what food they are or aren't going to provide. Our in-store pickup order (thru GrubHub) of mac & cheese turned out as rice & beans. And our order of two slices of cake (different kinds) turned out as "we don't have any cake". And the response at pickup in the store wasn't to reimburse me for the charge of the two slices of cake, but rather "you have to call GrubHub and get them to reimburse you". I ordered the 4pcs tenders this evening , after waiting on the to cook it came home and the chicken was not Krispy nor Krunchy , oily and soggy , it come with the biscuit and didn't receive that , they tried to replace it with some old uneditable potato wedges which were horrible what makes it worse was then didn't even ask me if they could replace it with those . Maybe it was the fact that we went an hour before closing time but I wasn't impressed by the chicken... it had no definitive taste... it just taste like chicken and salt really... we got a mixed chicken meal, chicken strip meal and even some of the sweet and sour wings... the only thing i would drive back for were the biscuits... they were fresh, flavorful, buttery, sweet and the perfect texture ... the flavored wings were terrible, although i think they would be much better fresh.... they tasted as though they had been sitting up there for hours... the Mr likeshis chicken and strips but agreed that there wasn't anything special about it... the red beans and rice were terrible... tasted watered down and lacked major flavor... over all I would give them another chance earlier in the day with a fresher batch of food... as of now it's nothing to write home about... read more

Ordered pick up through Doordash. Food was supposed to be ready by 823pm. I arrived 820pm and was told by the kid working the counter that it would be 10 more minutes. I said no problem. After 15 minutes, I asked and was told 8 more minutes. As I sat waiting the kid left the restaurant with his skateboard. A female working the counter told me that it would be a few more minutes. At 910pm someone from the back of the store tells me "your pizza is ready sir." Pizza????? What pizza??? I ordered chicken. The gal was embarrassed and walked to the warmer and handed me my order. She offered to give me extra food but at this point I just wanted to get out of there. Chicken was crunchy but not tasty, mashed potatoes were half way potatoes and half way gravy.
