16680 E 14th St San Leandro, CA 94578 I don't eat much Krispy Krunchy Chicken (KKC) anymore, but I happen to be walking by this place. It's next door to the Raja Market at East 14th St x 167th Ave. I don't come thru this area much, but my job sent me to San Leandro (Ashland) for a drop. KKC is the center menu of this place. I didn't see the pizza menu. The clerk was hidden behind the glass case playing with his phone. I had to get his attention to order. I ordered an 8-pc Legs and Thighs for $16.99. With tax the total is $18.75. He didn't offer me any hot sauce, and I forgot to look for it. The place also has a variety of drinks and shakes. Okay, here's today's TIP OF THE DAY: For me, KKC only has one flavor.....SALTY. To offset the salty flavor, you put hot sauce or ketchup on it. Anything tomato-based will neutralize the saltiness. Then you can enjoy your fried chicken. The sodium content is still there. Back in the old days, they used to dump tons of free hot sauce in your order. Now you need to ask for it or grab it yourself. Overall, the chicken was ok (3/5), service (2/5), cleanliness (2/5) Would I return? No thanks. free parking

I ordered the family meal and it came up to $42. This meal included 6 chicken strips. I asked how many sauces came with the meal. He told me NONE. And the sauces were $0.75. The chicken is great, so are the biscuits. But the greed of not including at least one sauce for the strips is insane! So i have to give 2 stars.

I decided to get Krispy Krunchy chicken with a friend who has never had it, when we entered the facility, the gentleman behind the counter was texting or browsing on something on his phone, after a few seconds of watching him while we are trying to figure out what we want to eat, we see him touch his nose, after touching his nose, he was on his phone again, right before the food was ready to be taken out of the fryer he touches his hair and rubs his face and then picks up the food basket. I'm not trying to be a difficult person but I wouldn't want to eat at a place when someone is operating like that right in your face, we left and went to another location.

    Veggie pizza the bomb

OMG I was craving a slice of pizza before I start my diet. I found them googling. They were ready to serve you right when you walk in. Very nice and helpful. I ordered a veggie pizza by the slice. Damn they or it was super good!! I will for sure be back again!!!!

There's so much hype about Krispy Krunchy that I had to try it out. I mean what started as infamous gas station fried chicken to being so popular that it actually have store fronts now. That means it has to be good right?? So, there were two big things that really peeved me and made me not happy. Let me start from the beginning, I placed my order online on their website. The website states if you order online, you'll get a 5% discount. I check outline and there's a "Support Local Fee" of 95 cents. Upon reading more about the fee it says "This small fee helps us develop the new tech and services that keeps pizzerias thriving." I don't even know based on that description how it helps local. But whatever, I accepted it and threw in a tip too to help support. And yes, the 5% discount was included when I placed the online order. The website gave me a 30-40 min eta for the food to be done. I got to Krispy Krunchy exactly 35 mins after I placed the order. The store had 3 employees and one guy waiting for his food. I walk up to tell them I'm here to pick up my online order. They tell me it's still being worked on, and will be done in a few minutes. That few minutes turned into 30 mins!!! I basically got my food a hour after placing the order online. That is just crazy considering the workers were just chilling there. They were all waiting for the chicken to finish frying from the machine or something. And it didn't seem like they were crazy busy to me. It was just that one guy waiting for his food. (He got his food 15 mins after I walked in btw) I mean that's just absurd to me that 5 pc hot wings, 12 pc dark meat, and family sized fries would take a hour to make. That's crazy right?! Especially from a fried chicken speciality place. What made me angry though was when I looked that menu. I had all that time waiting for my food to come. I looked at their menu displayed on the tv screens. That's when I realized the prices there are cheaper than their online prices. Yes, if you order online they have the prices marked up a few dollars. Even with the 5% online ordering discount, it still costs more to order online than at the store. Like come on, that's so misleading. You think you're saving money by ordering online and than in person. Nope, not the case at all. The support local fee is probably a lie too. The only reason it's not one star is that the fried chicken was actually good. It really is super crispy and hard, and the insides was very juicy. Was my whole ordeal worth it? Definitely not. But the chicken is their only saving grace for not being a total bust of an experience. If the whole process was faster and smoother, I probably would have given this place 5 stars. But.... I just can't based on my experience. P.S the fries are not good. It's basically massive wedges. They're so big that flavors don't properly get distributed on the fries. Just lot of starch to bite into.

I keep on hearing about this gas station fried Chicken, so yesterday while driving through San Leandro I made it a point to get off the Freeway and stop at Krispy Krunchy Chicken on 14th Street. I've read the Yelp listings and reviews of this chain don't have eating areas and are only take out joints. Sketchy location but the store was clean and organized. The chicken is as billed Krispy because the batter is thick and floury. The coating is good with seasonings, but they offer a variety of dipping sauces BBQ, Honey Mustard, House Original, and the best Crystals Hot Sauce. The chicken is moist on the inside. (White meat) it's better then the dark. Only had the chicken and did not have any of the other items. Prices are on par with other fast food fried chicken restaurants. The locations are not in nice neighborhoods and if your gonna eat in the car the crumbs get everywhere. Minus star for take out only.

    I guess I don't get a free biscuit

Since I tried KKC at the Hesperian, mind as well try the other location right?! They have pizza there too! Parking is a bit limited but not difficult since the place is only for togo orders. You go, pickup, then leave. They some snacks for purchase and some milk shakes available but the down side to this location was the wait time is a bit longer. At least longer than the other location I went to. Food tasted about the same but we ordered 5 pc shrimp this time. The 5pc shrimp came with wedge fries and honey biscuits. This was the upsetting part. When I pulled out the basket with the 5pc shrimp and fries, I thought it was just all fries, WHERES THE SHRIMP?! Oh. They are 5 TINY shrimps. Combined, they are the size of the biscuit. For $5.99, totally not worth it. So skip out on the shrimp and order more chicken.

I'm always on the lookout for new fried chicken joints. I love fried chicken and am always so excited when I find a new place to try. These types of fried chicken joints, the ones that are in gas stations, etc always have the best most crispy and juicy fried chicken!! It is never too salty either, I don't like KFC or popeyes because its always so salty I get super bloated after eating it. I also am not a huge fan of places that charge like $20 for a piece of chicken and waffle. Krispy Krunchy chicken has several locations in the bay area, oakland, hayward, san leandro and hunters point!! They have really affordable prices and also offer deals / family packs. This location also has indian pizza as well! I will definitely be back to try their indian pizza, I grabbed an 8 piece dark meat, and 3 honey butter biscuits. This is a to go only restuarant btw! The chicken here doesn't have an excessive amount of breading, but the breading itself was super tasty and not that salty. The meat was really juicy and not salty at all either! The honey butter biscuits here are so soft and pillowey, and super addicting, you can easily eat 6 of them at once. I will be back to try their pizza and wings !!

There was no line in the restaurant but people scattered around waiting for their food. We literally waited 30 minutes for our food. Considering the cost of food, long wait is expected. Not sure if it's the busy season or the way they make their food, the fries were nasty. They were dry and hard, not just one piece but the whole tray. Salt packets were provided. Burger... ugh. I had better In-N-Out Burgers in Texas than this these in California. For God Sakes... In-N-Out Burger is originally from California. But the quality is in below my expectations.

I was very impressed - so were the children - people would do photos with the Grinch - I think that is better than with Santa. My McRib is what you would expect from McDs. It isn't exactly gourmet and it won't win any Michelin Stars but I liked it. It was yuuuge!! I would have rather had the Grinch meal but those are long sold out. Grinch cups are festive - and they have those at all locations. Speedy delivery of food and I ordered at the kiosk. It is all really fast service - so much better than the other one I frequent in Dublin when I'm gettin wheel and tire work done next door at Big O. I love the Grinch. I have my own little Grinch stuff toy that my cat tries to steal from me. I yell at him and finally found it was best to just hide it in the car. Don't forget the Grinch is really a wonderful guy - His heart grew 5 sizes larger way back when.

Actually probably with out exception...the best in the Bay Area from a fast food joint. So why the 3 stars you might ask? Well.... Read on. Ok so I have heard so much hype about Smack Burgers that I was willing to drive "in traffic" 74 miles round trip to try them. It's located in a little shopping center where parking is a premium, seriously I was blessed to pull in as a guy was pulling out "the whole lot was completely full, cars were circling like vultures looking for a spot" after parking we walked in and noted the inside was simple yet orderly with with well placed signs, a very simple clear and concise menu, tables that were all clean a TV to watch the soccer game " I thought that was very unique for a fast food restaurant, and a soda machine. Fast food but with a take your time and stay a while attitude. 5 stars for the set up! Our server was great! I wanted to order a breakfast burrito along with my hamburger because I've herd so much about the Burrito's but unfortunately for me I was about an hour too late... "sad face" as they only serve them until noon. I think she felt sorry for me because she gave wifey a free drink. Anyways she gets 5 stars. I ordered: A strawberry lemonade. A 1/2 onion ring, 1/2 waffle fries tray. A Smack burger with lettuce and tomato, no pickle. The run down: The strawberry lemonade: IMO mediocre at best. Solid 2.5 stars it did have a strawberry flavor but had a funky aftertaste. The Onion rings: Meh 1.5 stars tops. While they were crispy and not oily they had a tiny flavor to them and honestly they just were not good. "Even their ranch dressing could not help the nasty aftertaste" The waffle fries: I'd give them a solid 3 stars while they are not the best fries I've ever had.... I found myself reaching back for more, the spice on them was also very good. I only wish that they had ketchup to put on them. (I didn't ask and I didn't see any, maybe I needed to ask?) The burger: this is the best part! People come here for their burgers!! With 2 three oz. perfectly seasoned patties, tons of grilled onions, American cheese, lettuce, tomato and their sauce They are simply amazing! How amazing you ask? Well after eating the above menu items "and they give you a lot of food mind you" I ordered one to take home with me, no joke, I really did, they are that freakin good. Bottom line: #1.Their prices are reasonable for today's crazy high food costs #2. Is it worth driving 74miles just for their burgers and nothing else? You know it just might be.

Not only that, but when we got the food it wasn't even crispy it was like KFC original recipe texture and it was cold!!! I asked for my bread to be grilled on both sides It wasn't... so either they got mad that I was knocking on the door and gave me some crappy food or this is just how the service is here on a regular. I do think their breading is nice and manages to stay crispy even after bringing it back home to eat 15 minutes later. Flavor isn't particular special. Definitely needs Cane sauce. Fun fact, if you like their sauce, I heard you can order a whole cup's worth. The Texas toast is amazing though. It's a bit sweet, a bit salty from the butter, and it's toasted for a light crisp. Absolutely delicious. Recommend getting the toast with every purchase! The tea was surprisingly not as sweet as I expected.
