This is my go to breakfast joint on a Sunday morning, since it's close to home and better than the other local places. I've never had a long wait to be seated and usually get drinks as soon as I sit down. 9 out of 10 times, it's pretty good service and the food is always good. I do suggest passing up the breakfast specials because you're actually paying more than you would for each piece individually. During my last visit, our food came out within 5-7 minutes of ordering - super fast service! If you're in the area, give it a try. read more

I have to preface by stating I am from Maryland...I ordered a crab cake out of sheer curiosity for what they do to crab cakes in New Jersey. (The special was a crab cake, Mac n cheese, cup of soup, drink & dessert, for around $10.) The soup was a seafood bisque that tasted like vodka sauce with some puréed seafood in it. The crab cake was nothing like a Maryland crab cake, but more like a codfish cake with a lot of filler, and it was served on top of a bowl of macaroni and cheese. I found that strange. Mac n cheese tasted ok, but it was extremely salty, as was the soup. My lips started to prune (seriously). I asked for a little Old Bay - server had no clue what I was talking about, because she had never heard of it - but she asked the owner, who found something similar in the kitchen. Dessert was a slice of cake which was large and very sweet. I had a cup of coffee with dessert and it was strong, which I liked. The place is clean and the atmosphere is pleasant for a diner, and the service was very good. Our server was very sweet, and I think she realized I was from out of town, so she tried to be as accommodating as she could. I can't speak for what the rest of their menu is like, because my husband ordered breakfast - pretty hard to screw up bacon and eggs. Pancakes were good, according to him. My MIL ordered the same thing I did, and she's a native Jersian...she disliked the food as well. I can pretty safely say their food is probably not that great in general, if they have to rely so heavily on salt for flavor. Just my mistake for ordering a crab cake somewhere other than Maryland. I have been eating at this establishment for a few years now. I understand that Covid has put a damper on restaurants, however that is no excuse for waitresses to take others' orders nor providing menus because she is too busy taking care of others who came in after me simply because she knew them personally. Had my daughter's Bridal Shower this past weekend. Cannot begin to say how beautiful the private room was set up and how everyone raved about the food. We had the Brunch buffet with the Mimosa Bar. Absolutely delicious food and drink. The servers were wonderful and super friendly. Stopped by for dinner yesterday. Was seated and given a menu. Waited in a booth for fifteen minutes and for someone to return to the table to see if I wanted water, a soft drink or to take my order. People walked all around me cleaning tables and talking with one another. Not a single one of them asked if I was being served and no one returned to the table. The last straw was when I saw them address and serve someone who walked in after me and sat at the counter. So I got up and left. Once and done for me - don't waste your money or time going here. I met a friend for dinner last Thursday evening and ordered the chicken sfoglia from the dinner specials menu. It boasted having chicken, ham, fresh spinach and fresh mushrooms in a nice Marsala wine sauce, served over rice with melted mozzarella cheese on top. Sounded so delicious! It was awful. The first sight displayed globs of obviously frozen spinach and canned mushrooms with the mozzarella on top. When I mentioned that this sure didn't look fresh, my friend agreed that this was definitely the case. Under the mozzarella there was a layer of deli ham slices and then I had to dig for small pieces of chicken along with more frozen spinach and canned mushrooms. The rice was at the bottom and the whole dish was literally swimming in a runny, soupy "Marsala wine sauce." We came at a busy time and the server seemed stressed. When she came to see how our order came out and asked me if it was good, I politely said, "It's ok." She said, "Just ok?" I explained politely and showed her that the mushrooms and spinach were not fresh as the menu description had boasted. I did not ask it to be taken back, as that is not my nature, and she just shrugged her shoulders, said "Oh," and walked away. I didn't eat much - I will say that the portion was huge. When the meal was over she asked if I wanted to take it home and I was a little indecisive but thought that maybe my husband would eat it. The kicker came when she told me she would have to CHARGE ME EXTRA FOR THE TAKE OUT BOX! Maybe this is something new that restaurants are doing, but I have never experienced this! I was so taken aback that I stupidly said ok and now I'm throwing this entire thing in the garbage because my husband says it looks like barf. I was extremely pleased with how Kristy's handled my daughter's baby shower. The price was reasonable, the food was great, and we were able to come in and decorate before guests arrived. But the most impressive aspect was how helpful and accommodating the staff was. The young man, Mike, asked if we needed anything, asked if wanted something to drink and was attentive. Our server was pretty good and nice, she had no food running while we were there and was making a lot of table rounds. The food not half bad, the portions had a decent amount of food and the menu had enough selection to choose. The table was a disappointment! Nobody like a haphazardly place setups and please if you're going to use setups, which is fine, at least make them look neat and on the same side of every placemat. For a place with such near access to seafood, I wasn't impressed by the IQF calamari. My triple-decker was ample, best eaten in half for me. We go here every week for breakfast and I get the same thing every time and it's too good to try something else. I get a Greek omelette, no tomatoes, with egg whites and side of rye toast. The omelette is always so good I scarf it down. The home fries are the best and doesn't taste like they sat in oil like the sand castle diner.. Their breakfast is way better than lunch or dinner. FLY infestation on Thursday, August 17, 2017! It was awful. I asked the server for a fly swatter so I could finish my lunch. He gave me a rolled up newspaper. When I paid my check I asked about the fly problem and the girl said "it is not as bad in the evenings". No other explanation! Having worked for several years in hospitality, it takes a lot of frustration for me to write a negative review of a restaurant, especially during a pandemic. This place is a complete RIPOFF. I never mind paying an expensive price for good quality food, even at a diner. There are many diners on the expensive side out there but they have quality food to match. This is not the case here. I took my daughters to lunch and the kids menu items were all $9.49 (fair price for good quality, but this was not at all). The kids items came with soda and also ice cream, which we did not want, so I requested just a regular hot dog and regular cheeseburger. They wanted to charge $8.50 for a plain hot dog with NOTHING on the side. Also $7.69 for a PLAIN cheeseburger NOTHING on the side. I could understand this if it was a high-quality hotdog or if the cheeseburger was made fresh but it was clearly a frozen patty on a frozen bun. I questioned the price at the register and was told that's what it is. We should have gone to McDonalds! The service did not match the prices either, which had been the case the last few times we visited as well, but I wanted to support a local business so we gave it another try. Staff very nice and attentive, although the food was mediocre at best. My family of 4 all ordered different foods and my order was prime rib. I specifically stressed that I wanted it to be visibly pink and what I got was medium well brown meat. Had to wait for a new one that came basically raw and cold. I want about to complain as I felt it may come back with spot on it. However my husband did like his pizza burger but my kids had nothing good to say about their meals either. I was there for Thanksgiving buffet and it was awful. The prime rib was okay, but the turkey was dry, and the stuffing was nasty: wet, flavorless, flabby. If there were cranberry sauce, I couldn't find it. They were using ice cream scoops for the mashed potatoes and yams, and the scoops were too short-handled-- the potatoes and yams were all over the handles and thumb-levers and it was messy and gross. Presentation was really lacking, and I don't mean from an aesthetic point of view-- I mean that they didn't replenish the trays when they got low, so things became overcooked and dried out. For example, the eggplant rollatini had crusty dry edges, and the fish was just dessicated. Totally unappetizing. Dessert was a real disappointment. There were maybe two slices each of apple and pumpkin pie, gone as soon as anyone entered the room, a quarter of a bowl of fruit salad sitting in lots of juice so everything was all wet, a picked-over tray of those tasteless Italian cookies, and that was it. There was a huge, beautiful carrot cake but it hadn't been sliced, so I guess it was just there to admire and not eat? No one got to have any. Maybe it was decorative, like those plastic fruits your grandma had on her kitchen table? The wait staff were nice, so I'll give them that, but... for $25, this was waaaayyy overpriced for the quality of the food we were given. read more
