I'd put zero stars if I could. My family and I come here twice a year during our road trip to CO. We usually like it but the service is terrible. They closed the kitchen 30 minutes early for absolutely no reason. We tried to talk to the lead shift manager because apparently there's no manager on staff. The lead shift manager hamper to explain we were about to go through independence pass and there would be no options for food for a while. She did not show any kind of effort to accommodate even though they were supposed to close in 30 minutes but overall very rude and I don't know if the lady was joking or something but what kind of a name is hamper. read more

The staff decided to close at 6:40 and refused to take our order after driving a long way to eat here. I tried calling an hour before arriving to place a takeout order which they also wouldn't accommodate phone orders but that they closed at 7. They then put me on hold and hung up. Once we arrived at 6:35 we were told they would not serve us, I asked for an owner or manager. The lady at the window said she was the lead shift, said she was in charge but she couldn't help that the kitchen said they were done cooking. They did take the order from the people in line in front of us so the issue is not that the kitchen was already closed. We visit this restaurant every year and I'm really disappointed that we brought guest and this was the expertise they had. It's sad to see the quality go down so much, I used to crave K's cheeseburgers and couldn't wait for opening day in the Spring. There are better options for a great burger in BV. It's a typical American drive-in type menu, with burgers/fries/ice cream/malts. They loudly proclaimed they were out of burger patties at 3:30pm on a Saturday. You're a burger joint- how does that happen ?? Pricing is about what you would expect, middle of the road. The corn dogs were the same price as burgers. They were good, don't get me wrong, but not worthy of the same price point as a juicy burger. We enjoyed our Freezes (think Dairy Queen Blizzard). This is a very popular place. It's a walk up place with a little bit of outdoor seating. They play fun music and they give you a famous person's name that they call when your order is ready. They have soft serve ice cream and my favorite thing was that they were very generous with my rainbow sprinkles!! The burger tasted good but the bun was hard and dry, not fresh. I ordered onion rings, heard the young woman yell, "o-rings!" But then when we picked up the order I had fries (not great by the way) and no onion rings. My husband told them we had ordered onion rings instead of fries, but apparently we weren't charged for onion rings and they weren't willing to give them to us because they said too many people scam them saying they didn't get their onion rings. Always stop here on our way back from Gunnison. Never disappoints, cheeseburger and fries, simple and satisfies the crave. Nice parking by a local park so you can eat there, or in your car. Stopped here in the 80's when I was a kid on our way back from fishing for ice cream too. Service is always good. read more

If it happens to be a bathroom, you have to cross the street and head to the building in the park. The primary redeeming quality of this place is the ice cream and the manner in which they call out orders. When you order, you're given a celebrity's name (think Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, Shirley Temple, etc.), and that's who you listen for. It's a fun idea and all ages seem to like it. Unfortunately, the burgers themselves are lackluster and don't have much flavor. They're also fairly greasy. This is a small joint on the side of the highway coming into town. There's minimal seating available, but there's a nearby park if you have some kids who need to burn some energy. There's a map inside where people can place a push-pin on the place they're from. It's fascinating to see how far people have come to go through BV. Go for the ice cream, and stay for the names. I'd go somewhere else for an actual meal. read more

Stopped in for lunch on a Sunday and about 5 people in front of me. They were announcing that they're short staffed right now, but they were still cranking out the cheeseburgers in a reasonable time-10 minutes for about 6 sandwiches. Grossest food AND rudest staff on the planet. Burgers and corn dogs, average premade frozen at best. Banana split doesn't have real bananas, it's banana syrup. When you want to vomit because it's fake flavoring, the staff will argue with you and tell you too bad, "real bananas go bad too quickly." Please for the sake of humanity, go somewhere else. I have now gone to K's twice this summer. By driving by you think it's a classic summer drive in spot but it's extremely over priced. The staff can be very cold and short with customers. They do not mix their milkshakes, all they do is put soft serve in a cup. If you want a meal with a burger, fries and drink expect to pay well over $20. I think this is my second review of this place. Today's visit was a big disappointment. Our double burger came out with one burger essentially raw in the center. We had cut it in half to share, so we could tell there was a problem immediately. My husband took it back to the counter, and the guy said it was fine! We said it's raw in the middle, and he continues with its cooked fine. "We cook our burgers medium to well done." This was rare- medium rare which is not good for ground beef. It was cool inside. Then he starts in with, "it's fine, because it's not chicken or seafood." Oh man! I've owned a restaurant and have been certified in food safety. Cool ground beef isn't considered safe. The guy would not relent. We were just stopping for a quick burger to share on the way to Aspen. We'd had good food here before, but today we did not. And who wants to argue over a burger? So we also skipped ice cream here. Doubtful we'll return or bring friends after rafting as we have many times in the past. It was a bit busy, and anyone can undercook a burger, and it should have been easily corrected. I've been coming to K's for over 40 years each summer. Ever since new management took over years ago, it is very inconsistent. Today, a Sunday, we show up at 5:30pm and they are closed. Supposedly open 11am to 7pm, 7 days a week. When asked when we could expect some normal hours, the young blond dripped of attitude and said "I don't know".. They ran out of food - at least burgers. Fun stop after a long hike in the area. We only got various forms of soft serve Ice cream, but it all hit the spot on a warm afternoon.

When we walked up no one greeted us. The gal working just glanced up and kept sweeping until she finished. I don't mind waiting a few minutes but they really should acknowledge that you're there and they're coming. Food was up before I even finished filling my soda. Not a great sign, I think everything had been sitting awhile. Fries were cold. Burger was undercooked and the bun was stale. My sister got chicken strips and onion rings. Both were cold. We didn't finish either meal. I would not recommend. I gave it two stars only because it was clean. Not worth it. My Girlfriend and I stopped for a quick lunch and could not have been more disappointed. My girlfriend ordered fries and a sunday, the fries were 4$ and contained less than 10 soggy fries. I ordered the mushroom Swiss and a shake. The shake was literally a cup of soft serve ice cream, my mushroom Swiss was pretty flavorless and disappointing. I'd rather eat at a McDonald's than go here again.
