I'm always really skeptical about who does my hair because it's curly and curly cuts can be challenging. My mom and her friends went to Yuji who is a Japanese hair stylist and always had great experiences so I gave it a shot. I was just getting a cut but even for my super long curly hair, he was done in about 50 minutes which was amazing. It's been a while since a hair stylist wanted to put layers in my hair but he did and I love my new haircut. It's super short and light and my curls feel revived. Yuji-san is super talented, and the salon is very clean and nicely decorated too. I've never thought it was worth paying for a salon grade haircut until now. Omar gave me the most AMAZING haircut! My hair is long, thick, drab, very bushy, and dry. I told Omar that I wanted to keep the length, have long layers, and have the front long enough to wear a ponytail. With this simple, minimal guidance, he proceeded to give me the most gorgeously shaped cut with great lines and soft layers. He thinned out my nasty mane and made it look like a celebrity's haircut, something that I didn't think was possible! I used to go to Cynthia at Portfolio, and she was great, but got way too pricey, but nobody ever was able to get my hair color just like she did; that's until a friend told me about Omar. I have never posted a review on Yelp, but just "had to" post for Carlos at La Bamba Salon!!!!!! Today I had the pleasure of meeting Carlos for the first time-my boss highly recommended him when she saw HOW upset I was when I had my hair done earlier this week at another salon (and paid good $ for it, too!)...SO upset I cried off and on for two days! I am 44 yrs. old and have been getting highlights for at least 20 yrs, and had never had such a traumatizing experience...I had gotten horrible highlights (bleached blonde-not light brown as I asked; "many" inches cut off, not a trim as I asked..and the list goes on...) So, I knew Carlos would have his work cut out...(which I felt terrible about)... Regardless how many great things I had heard and read about him I was still a bit nervous, considering the horrible way my week had started. However Carlos "oozed" calmness, and immediately made me feel at ease :) telling me, everything would be just fine. The experience in the salon is also great. It's a clean, quiet and relaxing environment. I would give Iris 10 stars if they were available. Iris is a true artist!! She spent a tremendous amount of time with my daughter coloring her hair in a way that was more than she even imagined. She has had so many compliments on her hair style and color (even from those who aren't a fan of wild hair) and she tells everyone that Iris is the best.
